In what way did your perception of the issues relevant to your class change? I thought in this day and age that the majority of them would be very competent with technology but there was a number who didn't have much experience at all.

Please describe your comfort level in delivering the more mature content within this kit I was fine with teaching all the content. We have a period of the week where the kids are able to lead conversations and have discussed some difficult topics before .

What was something that surprised you about your class throughout the teaching and learning of this kit? Like I said above I had assumed that most of the kids would be much more familiar with technology.

“It was a really great kit that promoted a shift in the language used in my class especially around boundaries. It was very relevant as my class just got a set of Chromebooks to use and of course all of the online learning we have been doing this year. I had a good mix of tech-savvy kids and less confident kids in my class and this kit work well across the range.”

What was something that surprised you about your class throughout the teaching and learning of this kit? I did know my class very well before beginning - biggest surprise/frustration was a couple of students that still engaged in online bullying, and with friends?!

“Great content that aligned with the Health lessons we were teaching for the term. Relevant to the children's needs. The boundaries lesson was a good warm up for the following content.”

In what way did your perception of the issues relevant to your class change? The students were keen for this topic and understood less than I had thought they did. However there is still the perception that they are digital natives and what can we tell them.

Please describe your comfort level in delivering the more mature content within this kit This was a good kit although I did find that we could only go around the issue of pornography and yet many of our students had accessed it, as well as sharing and receiving inappropriate images. I do think we need to be able to discuss this in more detail

What was something that surprised you about your class throughout the teaching and learning of this kit? How willing they were to share

“This kit was very successful to run with our hub of 60 yr 7+8 students. The students, while acting all worldly, were actually still very naïve about what happens online to their data etc. The kit opened up discussions of incidents that had happened to them and the discussions were very robust between students about how to deal with issues. In two cases we contacted parents to suggest following up with Netsafe but were frustrated by their unwillingness to do so.”

In what way did your perception of the issues relevant to your class change? Statements made: They were challenged by the notion that the online and offline behaviors should be the same. They were aware of online dangers but rather naïve about the ongoing consequences of these. Worryingly they were so concerned about being bullied

I selected the areas that were most suited to the year 7 &; 8 students in my community. The kit provided plenty of scope. If you consider some to the sexual content mature then we understand the term differently. The

“A good range of context/scenarios to choose from so that I could make the learning relevant to my classroom. I shared the kit with another class and they also found it useful. I thought that it provoked good conversations and there was a range of constructs to use.”

In what way did your perception of the issues relevant to your class change? The students were really surprised to learn that whatever is put online stays online forever, and just how accessible what they post actually is to strangers out there.

“This was yet another AMAZING resource from School Kit! It was really timely for us as we were having a few issues with our students and their online behaviour. It's also one that I intend on starting the new school year with. Thanks guys!!”

“I found the kit really hard to understand in regards to the instructions/lesson plan and getting my head around what I needed to do. I definitely think the kit is pitched to an older year group than the Year 7's I have.”
