Diary of a Turtle helped my students better understand the impact plastic waste can have on marine life. Agree
The kit was great, it provided the class with lot so of learning that I could extend upon, such as learning about the area the turtle was in, it linked to our term 1 project of recycling and could also be linked to our local area where we have little blue penguins and how the impact the rubbish has on them as well.

This extremely engaging kit was perfect for my Year 1 class. They loved becoming Rubbish Rangers. We became fully immersed in all things 'Sea Turtle' as it was so easy to fully integrate this topic throughout different curriculum areas. My class loved discovering new and interesting sea turtle facts and I learnt heaps as well!

Our tamariki LOVED this kit, were fully engaged for the whole term, taking their learning well beyond the activities planned. They were highly motivated to write and loved getting the texts and messages from the Sea Cleaners. Some tamariki chose to continue being sea cleaners completely independently, taking rubbish bags around the school to find rubbish. And if we ever saw rubbish when we were outside, we HAD to pick it up, because someone would remind us that we were sea cleaners!

The children were very engaged during this learning. They loved following updates of 'their' turtle and it inspired lots of creative writing when we used the text message prompts. The children learnt lots of new vocabulary, and parents commented on how much learning the children were sharing at home.

Hi, I emailed early after getting into the Diary of a Turtle 25 kit arrived saying it wasn't exactly what we were hoping for, and wouldn't be using the kit. We were hoping it was going to track an actual turtle in the ocean as part of our unit on how animal adapt to their environments. I'm sorry this email has not reached the appropriate person. The kit was however used in our senior school with their beach clean up day.
