“Loved this kit! I'm glad I took on the suggestion of setting up a provocation space, as the students really loved this, and our local vet got on board and provided lots of product packaging etc to make it 'real'. I came into class one day to see one of my students 'treating' Tofu (a soft toy shiba inu I borrowed) in his carrier, giving Tofu an injection with the utmost care. It was such a fantastic hook to get into the learning! I collated the suggested videos into a google site to make them easy for the students to access, and then they were off into their investigative wormholes! The momentum continued from there and I really love the way that the kit interwove careers, literacy, and the use of data and problem solving processes. Highly recommend!”

“This kit was used with Year 4-6 children as a high interest deep dive, cross curricular small group activity. We had a very experienced teacher aide mainly use the kit with a group of target children who lack comprehnesiona nd often feel disengaged with texts as readers and writers. We found it very engaging and inspired additional research and aspirational thinking.”

What feedback have you received from students or parents about the learning in this kit? We had to pause working on the case files the first day and the students strongly expressed that they wanted to continue working on them.
“It was a great way to expose students to some medical terms and the work that vets do. I chose to use the Storyvets kit at this time in the year because it is Calf Club/Ag Day time for us. It made students more aware of the animals and caring for them, especially thos students that don't have much to do with animals. The students loved working on the case files.”

“My more capable students really enjoyed the hands-on element e.g. the x rays, the files with the different pieces of information. The kit did an excellent job of scaffolding students to develop the skills to be successful e.g. how to take a pulse.”

“This kit was very much enjoyed by my class. They really got into the scientific aspects of working as a vet, especially the diagnostic process. This kit tied in great with our concept of looking at different careers. A lovely local vet helped supply some bits and pieces to make our 'scene' look more realisitic- the kids were hooked from the start. The students also loved all the x-rays, patient information, ultrasounds etc. It really did make it all seem so real to them. Very much recommend!”
