What feedback have you received from students or parents about the learning in this kit? Parents came into school to see the raved about vet clinic the kids set up. Kids were reporting back to parents how fun it is to be real vets.

“My Year 5 class absolutely loved this kit. We had an entire vet clinic set up in class for the whole term. Unfortunately, due to other school commitments, we had to complete the kit in stages. Next time I sign up, I’ll make sure to set aside enough time to finish it all in 1-2 weeks rather than the half term it took us.”

How did this resource help students understand process of elimination using data analysis? Story Vets helped my students practice the process of elimination by testing hypotheses against data. Instead of just guessing, they asked - What evidence supports this? What evidence rules it out? This built on their critical thinking and strengthened their confidence in using data to make decisions.

What feedback have you received from students or parents about the learning in this kit? Enjoyment and love for animals. We are a rural community so this kit was very relatable to their livelihoods with realistic examples and ability to connect their learning with the real world..

“It’s a cool engaging kit, the kit is full of physical materials, cards, illustrations, lab test tools, etc., which helped my students engage directly. With more pluses than drawbacks I’d recommend it, especially if your class is motivated, likes animals, your timetable allows a block of inquiry, and you have a system and space for managing physical materials. It has cool narrative story elements, science, data interpretation, and a bit of coding, it also gives teachers flexibility to integrate it into writing/literacy, inquiry, science, or technology sessions.”

They came in and answered questions that the students had thought of during the unit. The questions reflected their awareness of skills needed.

“Students loved the QR codes which give them simulated experience of what it is like, as a vet, to check vital readings such as heart beat. The huge posters were colourful and the selection of animals meant different children could chose the animal they preferred. The 'red tinted' glasses caused excitement, too!”

What feedback have you received from students or parents about the learning in this kit? They all worked really well together-collaborative and cooperative. Parents that popped in went over to the posters on display and coludn't help but get their phones out-and discuss with their child.

“Really good unit for my year 6-8 class. They enjoyed the stories and mapping them out to code in scratch. We had lots of fun investigating each animal and their ailments. A good way to integrate language, stem and science. Thanks School Kit for another well thought out, fun and entertaining unit. Kids very engaged with this one.”

My students learnt how evidence can eliminate wrong options and lead to a sound conclusion through reading, research, comparison tools etc.

My students loved the fact they cold all get involved in the project, they loved learning about helping and caring for vulnerable animals, doing investigative work was really exciting for many, the resources in the kit were really engaging and my students enjoyed the practical/hands-on activities.
