We want to collate the huge number of steps from accross NZ, please share your final number with us. 243,678
Some of the pedometers broke and there were not replacements so we had some unhappy children. Parents did not buy into the programme and we found it quite frustrating - so we just counted our steps.

We want to collate the huge number of steps from accross NZ, please share your final number with us. Our pod collated data from the pedometers and realised some were more accurate than others, based off this we worked out an average number of steps per day for each student. In the time we carried out the unit (3 weeks) our pod of 59 kids walked over 1 mi
We completed this school kit unit as a pod (2 classes = Carla Ballantyne and Jacqui Murphy). Of all the school kits we have received so far, this was enjoyed the least by the students. It was disappointing that it arrived later than originally expected as when we signed up for it we had hoped to tie it in with our school cross country training and event. This was over by the time we got it. It provided students with the opportunity to explore different pedometers and measuring skills. Loved the maths this involved. It also encouraged lots of discussion around the pros and cons to each pedometer. The wristbands were definitely the most popular choice. With 29 to 30 students in our classrooms though there were not enough pedometers for everyone to use at one time. They were great to use during our pod fitness sessions, especially our weekly beep testing. The light up shoelaces were a great prize for those students who were our top steppers. (P.S: Photos will be sent through by Jacqui).

This kit was great, my class really enjoyed it. Only feedback is maybe a sheet in the kit about how to work/reset pedometers.

We want to collate the huge number of steps from accross NZ, please share your final number with us. Not much - it kept raining we got 142,227 steps altogether
It was good but some of the equipment not working (which was the purpose to talk about the reliability of equipment) was frustrating after a while as not everyone had a working reliable pedometer

We want to collate the huge number of steps from accross NZ, please share your final number with us. 237, 031 was our total on our Walk the Length of NZ Day however, we did lose a few steps due to children re-setting pedometers etc.
The children really enjoyed the chance to try out a pedometer! I team teach with another teacher and the 2 of us wear fitbits and often check in with each other about our step count so the children loved being able to do this as well! It was interesting to calculate our foot steps with the string – they were smaller than I thought! This was especially enjoyed when the children had to compare their foot step to other measurements and objects around the classroom and school – the most popular being our TV! We worked alongside the senior classes who were also completing the School Kit for our walking day. There were over 100 of us out there walking and getting active! Unfortunately we were sharing some pedometers with our friends in school and some of our steps were re-set on our Walk the Length of NZ Day so we missed out on a few. This provided a great opportunity to discuss the reliability of the different pedometers and apps we had previously discussed. We noticed the wrist ones were very easy to use – 100 steps before even moving. The children felt the hand clickers were the best (although I am not sure how reliable this was!). This was such a great combination of Numeracy and Fitness. It was great to see the children reading larger numbers, working together to calculate steps totals and averages and challenging each other to beat their steps and get active. While completing this School Kit we were slightly limited with time as we were also completing a school production so it was a nice break in between that. Thank you for such an awesome resource!

We want to collate the huge number of steps from accross NZ, please share your final number with us. The total number of steps for our group was 65934288. Remembering that training we did was for usually 10 mins per day. We kept a daily total which kept the kids focussed and excited. Thank you for the opportunity to be involved and the sponsors who helpe
We simplified many of the activities to fit my class level. We were training for cross- country at the time so were able to us it during our daily training. The kids had turns at using the different trackers provided.

We want to collate the huge number of steps from accross NZ, please share your final number with us. 154, 330 steps each x10 students
This is a really cool resource for students. The ";gadgets"; were a hit and really helped them to focus on the purpose. Some, were difficult for the kids to figure out but that added to the learning! The incentive to walk the length of NZ was daunting to them but we broke it down for us as we had a limited time this term. I would definately dot his again!
