We want to collate the huge number of steps from accross NZ, please share your final number with us. 1,848,563 steps, not quite enough but the class had a great time
We had a great time comparing the different ways to collect steps, all of the children were really engaged. On the day we were actually collecting steps the children decided to walk laps of the school field during their lunch time in order to help us get enough steps. It was really neat to see them so engaged in their learning that they wanted to keep it going in their own time.

We are an area school so we set up a walkathon and had families and students from right across the school come and walk laps for us. It was lots of fun and we had perfect spring weather for this. This was another fun experience and we loved the learning, team work and exercise we got out of this kit.

We want to collate the huge number of steps from accross NZ, please share your final number with us. All together we walked/ran 465000 steps
This was a great kit especially as we used it to collect steps during our cross country practice. We asked two other classes to help us get more steps. We used the laces as an incentive for who could do the most steps over the week of practice.

Kit had a lot of fun to use resources, and the students genuinely were so excited to see and get to experiment with the equipment. The teaching of this kit was difficult as the teaching resource itself was very vague and took a lot of time to figure out what the intention behind it was. Having not used School Kit before, I wasn't sure what to expect in that area, but I understand other kits my colleagues have used have been more clearly outlined. I enjoyed the fact that this kit had real-life scope and community involvement. I also thought it was great that my students were able to have their lives enriched by being exposed to really cool pieces of technology that they otherwise likely would have never seen (let alone be able to use), and shown how they worked. It allowed for a level of competitions between our team of classes, and an exploration into worthwhile and accurate forms of measurement. It enabled technologically minded students to step up to the plate as they had figured out every piece of equipment before even picking them up, so it gave recognition and value to them in the ways they are wired - for that I am very grateful.

All the resource was excellent. The only thing would be to have better quality steppers as they broke and we couldnt finish the walk

We had a great time measuring our steps and the students really enjoyed the challenge of walking as many steps as they could in the holidays. Most also got their families on board. They were excited and worked well together to support each other in the Mathematical process. According to our calculations we didn't make the length on NZ.

";Walk the Length of NZ"; Thanks School Kit &; Healthy Kids for another great learning experience for our Y3/4 children. They had fun testing the pedometers with the help of some senior students. We then set up a walkathon, and on a perfect spring day families, students and classes from right across Y1-13 walked laps and clocked up the kilometres.
