I really like the way that they incorporated the pepeha and Te Ao Maori into the resource we were able to talk about Papatuanuku, our local awa and our taniwha that reside in our waters. “Kia ora, we love this resource. It was quite difficult to get started because we had to learn so many different things but our students really enjoyed testing the different waterways. This year, we have had a very wet winter and we had to be careful what waterways we visited. Sorry the pictures are not that good. We can't find the folder of the stream photos.”

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? Students really enjoyed creating items, like the bathyscope, to conduct their investigations. They really enjoyed measuring for different purposes and found it interesting what we would do with the data once we had completed our investigations.

“Thank you for this kit. As it had more of a 'scientific' emphasis, it was handed to our science department to implement. As a homeroom teacher I worked as a support teacher and did the integrated English component. So I was unfamiliar with much of the preparation that had gone on in class before the visit to the river. I personally think it was a little advanced for Y7/8 and it would be more suited to Y9/10.”
