Which water saving habit/s were your students most engaged in? Using one cup per day, Choose water instead of juice / fizzy, Tap off while brushing teeth, Using the chore chooser
What influence has this kit had in promoting the longevity of water saving habits and what other water related topics did your students come up with? Students were influenced in different ways based on their contexts. Some students looked at ways that they can water the garden without using water from the tap, while others opted for showers rather than bathing. The kit also encouraged me to look for a new dishwasher as my old one was not as eco-friendly..

What was the impact of the daily stamping practice in your classroom and which water benchmark did your students find most fascinating? The smaller benchmarks motivated the students more as they seemed more achievable. Once they started adding to them, they were encouraged to try other strategies too.
How have your students' perceptions of water conservation changed since using the resource and did it foster a sense of responsibility and awareness in your classroom? Yes, students don't let the tap in our classroom drip and when they wash their hands, they only turn the tap on to rinse off the soap. This was not the case before we started this inquiry topic. They also drink water and use their water bottles.

The Water Savers challenge aligned well with statistics, our maths strand focus for the term. The hands- on resources were invaluable because they motivated and reminded the students about ways that we can all save water and money. The video and other online resources were engaging and informative too. My classroom students and my specialties students all benefitted from exploring their household water usage and finding simple ways to save water. I strongly recommend this inquiry unit to all intermediate teachers as their students will find the learning experiences thought-provoking and beneficial in future.

The lessons fitted in well with our Matariki theme when we focussed on the Waiti and Waita Stars. My Year 7 and 8s weren't the best in monitoring there water use though but plenty of learning occurred.
