Which water saving habit/s were your students most engaged in? 5 minute showers, Using the chore chooser
What influence has this kit had in promoting the longevity of water saving habits and what other water related topics did your students come up with? Huge impact. We are a small rural school with many children living on farms. This prompted them to look closely at our water use at school and at home. We have a school pool and a water way nearby. We recently had rats chew through the water pipes in our library. We did a huge amount of learning on the water cycle to begin with then the children conducted their own inquiries

What was the impact of the daily stamping practice in your classroom and which water benchmark did your students find most fascinating? Initially it had a huge impact as the class had never thought about their water use like this before. The novelty did wear off and we did forget to do it sometimes as we started to go off on a tangent involved in our own water inquiries
How have your students' perceptions of water conservation changed since using the resource and did it foster a sense of responsibility and awareness in your classroom? My students had no awareness before, I have had feedback from their parents stating they have become ‘the water police’ at home!

The water saver kit was an amazing introduction and lead way into the water cycle and to what became a huge inquiry into how we can conserve & preserve water in our home, school, NZ and the world. My class were so engaged and enthusiastic all throughout their learning with many conducting experiments at home in their own time and building elaborate models of the water cycle and water saving inventions at home!

This was a great kit getting the students to focus on how much water they are wasting and could be saving. They were shocked how much water could be saved when they turned off the tap while cleaning their teeth, but were a little horrified at turning the tap off while washing hands and the 5 minute shower was a struggle for the girls!! It was a great kit to do coming into summer when we are likely to water the gardens etc and get them thinking about how this could be managed.

What was the impact of the daily stamping practice in your classroom and which water benchmark did your students find most fascinating? The daily stamping was a great visual of the impact the students were making. The most fascinating would have been the amount of water used for a shower and toilet.
How have your students' perceptions of water conservation changed since using the resource and did it foster a sense of responsibility and awareness in your classroom? It certainly changed perceptions and made my students more responsible and aware of water uses. They were already quite aware but thought since we had a lake on our doorstep that water was readily and easily available.

My ciass really enjoyed the water saving activities. We were doing a study on water tor Life so we had covered a range of topics about water and this kit was great for teaching how to save water. I had the question 'why do we need to save water when we live near a lake?' They assumed the water just came from the lake and it was an endless supply. The students who participated with Home Learning really enjoyed the stamping and managing their own stamping. The enjoyed seeing how they contributed, how much water they saved and thought about what could have been achieved if the whole class had participated They also enjoyed learning about 'hidden water!

My students loved the water savers challenge after learning about the water cycle for our topic learning. They enjoyed being able to take the badges, trackers, and mirror stickers to remind them to save water at home. Stamping the chart gave good reminders & visuals to their progress for saving water. We were able to easily link the challenge to deeper learning about the importance of water and different ways we can look after it in the world around us.

This was an awesome kit that was really engaging for the students and it was easy to follow. As a teacher, I learnt a lot about the ways that water is used in the production of objects that you don't see water in. The children really enjoyed the little take home items and were excited every day to come in and share the ways they have saved water and to do their stamps
