“Today I will describe another issue with my Jolly Boot scooter. Once your sitting comfortably, the arm rests are down and the wigwag paddle is in the centre position you can turn the key and hopefully press the wigwag to move, except that doesn't always happen with this scooter. Instead I get an awful high pitch alarm followed by beeps which I have to count to find out the fault code.
If you're following my scooter journey you will remember I returned this scooter as faulty the 22nd May just 23 days after purchase.
It was checked on the 22nd by an engineer, then kept in store to be checked again by the same engineer on the 2nd June.
Engineers notes
Customer stated her scooter would occasionally not turn on when
turning the key.
I have plugged my handheld into the controller to check the fault
codes to which I found the following.
A00 and A01 which indicates scooter in sleep mode.
2F01 wigwag being moved too early so during start up.
1502 free wheel lever.
4401 which does not indicate one specific fault.
I have spoken to PR about this and he is liaising the findings with
the customer.
No fault found with the scooter Indicating likely user fault.
The scooter is still a danger to use. still cuts out, and still doesn't always start.
I was nearly
This scooter was returned again on the 16th July less than 3 months after purchase.
Engineers notes
Scooter has been in again to be assessed, only new fault code is
for the 1502,
I have left this scooter running over a period of time to see what happens, it does not come up with any fault codes but will not move so just needed switching off and on again.
It has not turned faulted on me once whilst actively using it.
On this report the engineer has include photos showing
Code 1502 7 times
Code 2F01 51 times
Code A01 5 times
Code 4401 4 times
Code 1E08 1 time.
I may be stupid but all these are fault codes. A01 sleep mode
I have video's where 7 beeps can be heard and the manual states
The Senior Engineering and Logistics Manager sent me a beep code chart which lists code 7 as Speed Pot error remedy Contact engineer for repair.
Code 7 is still there even after the engineer's has checked the scooter.
In fairness to Ableworld they have said the will get the scooter checked by the manufacture, my response is to this if the fully trained and qualified engineer can't replicate the fault even though has also described one of the issues in his note what chance is there of me getting anything different.
The engineer states "will not move so just needed switching off and on again." need to be turned off and back on again.
Why did it need to be turned off and on again?
Imagine waiting for a bus not knowing where going to pull in.
When the bus does pulll in it's heading straight for you except the scooter won't turn on and the bus has to do an emergency stop inches from me.
As if that's not enough to shake you a young lout comes over and gives you a mouth full because he thinks your taking the mick.
Seriously
I repeat the words of the Stairlift and Customer Relations Director at Ableworld Nantwich " under no circumstance would we ever wish for any customer to feel unsafe or at risk when using a product purchased from us. Your safety and confidence in our products are of the utmost importance to us."
Sorry but these really are empty words. This scooter is faulty and is a danger to the user To go into sleep mode cut out without warn even 5 times is totally unexceptable.
I haven't been refunded because it's user error.”
“Buyers please beware
DON'T buy unless by credit card and online.
This company claims everything is User error = your fault = NO REFUND.
Today I will describe another issue with The Jolly Boot Scooter I brought from Ableworld on the 29th April 2025 yes just 4 months ago.
This scooter will just cut out, yes you read it right, it will just stop. no warning nothing!
The SENIOR Engineering and Logistically manager at Nantwich states.
"Sleep mode activates when the scooter has been left switched on but not used'.
It's a safety feature!
It's another way of saying User error.
The same manager does NOT explain why it should happen when I'm actually using it.
Imagine it's your vunerable relative, crossing the road the traffic light on red. when suddenly the scooter cuts out, I haven't reached the kerb, the lights have changed and the traffic is coming towards me. People are bumping into me to get out on the pavement.
It cuts out when we were driving it into our hotel room and their lift.
A cyclist ran into me and fell of her bike because this scooter cut out without warning.
It's cuts out when I'm shopping and people have walked into me.
Can anyone explain why I would forget to turn the scooter off in these situations.
I feel like I'm going insane they cite user error for every fault with this scooter meaning its me I'm incapable of using this scooter in the correct manner.
Would you want a scooter that just cuts out (STOPS without warning) when your using it.
My mental health is through the roof with this company they refuse point blank to refund. its been back in front of the engineer 3 times and still
user error NO REFUND. Forget the Faulty Goods Act. User error is there excuse.
Wait for the next installment.”
“I brought my Jolly Boot scooter from Ableworld Shrewsbury on the 29th April 2025.
The saleman recomended the better padded seat with drop down armrests.
I thought initially Ableworld were very helpful how wrong I was.
Please if you have to buy from Ableworld only pay by credit card and online.
Ableworld don't like refunding your money and will cite user error even if you return faulty goods within 30 days.
I returned this scooter on the 21st May well within the 30 days. having encountered many faults.
When turning the key on even with the wigwag in the correct position the scooter does not always engage instead it emits a loud alarm and then a series of beeps.
This issue happened while we were trying to get off a train in London by the time the scooter wouldn't engage the train doors had closed and we kept missing each station.
We only managed to get off when my husband held the trains doors and shout at some guys to drag me off when the scooter still wouldn't start.
An absolute nightmare situation. we've even experience the scooter cutting out but that's the next installment.
I've tried to upload a photo of my husbands arm which still show visable marks now yet this happen in may. Ableworld still refuse to refund. this is just one incident there are many more that make this scooter a danger to use.”
“I learned a valuable lesson about researching a company before using their services. Thankfully, BITCLAIM, took my complaint seriously, acted quickly, and helped me recover my funds. Their prompt response was a huge relief and showed that they prioritize customer satisfaction.”
“We purchased a 200 pound 4 wheeled walker for my sister who has MS. She can walk short distances with it and will often use the seat to rest. After 8 weeks, the back rest broke and she fell to the floor, banging her head on the kitchen cabinet. (she had a large bump on her head but luckily did not lose consciousness)
When her friend took the walker back to the Lincoln store the next day for an exchange, she was asked how much my sister weighs!!! Not that it should matter, she is of average weight. They refused to provide an exchange, or even a loaner walker until their engineer had looked at it. They didn't seem to care how she would manage without her walker.
A week later, she was contacted by the engineer whose assessment was the problem was caused by "User Error"!!! Really!! What exactly is a person who can barely walk supposed to have done to it? He said he would "price up" having it fixed! My sister refused to pay and they did finally fix it free of charge.
However, they should have given her a replacement walker right away and compensated her for her injuries. Not to mention not accuse her of causing the problem!
We will never use this company again and would not recommend them to anyone.
They are selling dangerous products and have extremely poor customer service.”
“AVOID THIS COMPANY!!!!!!!!!!!!
I bought a powerchair from able world in lincoln costing around £1600 in november 2022. At first the chaor seemed ok. I then went on holiday with my wife and children, on the first day away the left motor broke down. I rang able world and spoke to someone who said under the circumstances they would send an engineer to the hotel to fix it as they had time and space in the diary. When he realised we was 90 mins from where he was coming from the offer to send someone was rescinded and he said hire one and rhey will cover the cost. After doing some research there was NONE available to rent... £1200 wasted on a holiday where i had to sit in a hotel room unable to get out. I relayed my discuste and the customer services operator said he would send me a £10 gift card as an apology ( DISGUSTING AND INSULTING). My chair was repaired.... fast forward to october this year and having only using the chair once since it was fixed. I book a 1 night stay at alton towers, after being in the park less then 20 minutes YOU GUESSED IT !!!!! my power chair broke again WITH THE SAME PROBLEM!!!!! i contacted ableworld and their responses have been very un sympathetic and quite patronising to be honest. They did offer to fix again, which i didnt want as now its cost me a total of £1800 in 2 holidays and a £1600 i think in a chair that keeps braking down!!!!! I requested a refund as the chair is clearly not fit for purpose again there disgusting attitude and customer service refused!!!! AVOID THIS COMPANY!!!!! THEIR NAME SAYS ABLEWORLD BUT THERE PRODUCTS SAY DIFFERENT!!!!!!THEY ARE CONMEN WHO TAKE YOUR MONEY AND OFFER NO DIGNITY OR RESPECT!!!!!!! AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID”
“This company is the worst I've ever dealt with. I purchased a commode and have had nothing but trouble with it from the beginning. Not only has the bucket collapsed for the 6th time now and caused a lot of mess and it's ruined my carpet and I am disabled and housebound and I've told them I'm not happy with it . They won't refund me and have changed the bucket underneath and say its a used product and no refund . I told them there is a bad design and shouldn't happen but all they do is argue with me .
They are not sympathetic, helpful more argumentative and combative. I will never shop with them again. Considering its for disabilities it's a joke ! I'd advise you not to bother as once they have had your money it's game over”
“Poor aftersales. Lies about faults under warranty, try to place blame with no evidence to support the matter. Insulted me more than once, then again, again, again just for kicks...
KEEP AWAY!!”
“I KNOW THEY MAKE WAGES.. AND ARE NOT A CHARATY
BUT SEEM TO SELL THE MOST EXPENSIVE THING THEY HAVE
FOR NO REASON. EVEN WHEN CHEEPER LIFTS ARE AVALEABLE,
SO MY ADVICE GIVE THEM A WIDE BIRTH AND GO ELSEWERE
AS IN MY OPPINION THEY PRAY ON THE SICK
I KNOW ITS A HORRABLE THING TO SAY BUT THATS HOW IT SEEMS TO ME”
