“Today 14/05/2026 I went to Ackermans at Birch Acres mall and I was body shamed by two male employees there, I could not get their names cause my eyesight is bad so I couldn't read their name tags. I felt really uncomfortable taking in the fact that these employees that should be doing their word (packing) are looking at me in a weird way when I just came to shop. Furthermore I will not be shopping at Ackermans Birch Acres anymore because of those two male individuals.”

“Went to Ackermans in Park Central Shopping center beside mtn rank, when I got there as I was entering I loudly greeted the security lady, she pulled a face (what they do when they do not want to assist or hear what you want to say) okay I then pulled a face and walked away hoping to find someone else who is on floor (not by the till) who actually works for Ackermans because I wanted to ask if they allow pay just now, there was no one on floor, I then proceeded to the tills and Tendani was the guy I could get to, I greet him and ask if they allow pay just now, he says yes. I go on with my shopping, get on queue and then get assisted by Tendani, he process my clothes then he was done, I needed to know the total, I asked him if the R799.70 on the screen was the total he said yes and even confirmed it, I put in my total and when he was done the total changed to R763. 00 something... He doesn't mention it, when I see it... I stop him and ask what's going to happen now, he says with a "it is what it is" attitude "I don't know" I then say I can't just get ********** like that you have to give me something for that money, he tells me to pick something for that amount which was R35. .. I obviously wouldn't find something for exactly that amount that I need... Fast forward when we were done I proceeded to the door, when I got there the security checks the slip and notice Tendani didn't include the carrying bag, she tells me to go and tell him to punch it and pay for it, as I turned around she calls me back and says she's actually going to check item by item just to make sure (meaning she doesn't do her job properly mostly), she proceeded to do that, when she was supposed to fold back the clothes the way she found them or at least in a decent manner, she shoves my clothes in the carrying bag, I stop her and tell her to stop shoving my clothes like that and put them back nicely packed, she makes fun of me and belittle me, and tells me to move she wants to work, I tell her I'm going to move once I'm done with packing the clothes back, the lady then pushes me to the side (mind you, I was carrying my daughter at my back), I go back to Tendani so he can punch the bag and I pay. As if all that wasn't enough, I get home and one of the jackets I purchased has a security lock or whatever it's called (the black round tag that beeps at the door)
If there was zero stars I would opt for those, such disgusting behavior.”

“I bought 6 baby vests at Ackermans a week before my baby (2 months old) was born. They're labelled 0-3 months, but the quality is really disappointing! They look like they're meant for 6-12 month old babies - they've lost their shape and are stretching out at the neck. “My wife went to Ackermans Blue Route mall on the 23th December to collect the clothes what she pre pick.I'm the account holder so when the my wife phoned me for the opt nr I told her that I didn't received it, the cashier tired again and as before I didn't get it.The cashier phoned customer care.My wife informed the cashier that she is not the account holder,on the system showed Mr and not Miss,still the agent ask the security questions which my wife obviously failed.My card was blocked without contacting me.I phoned customer service and the agent were not helpful very rude and not listening to me I told her that I'm the account holder and the questions should've been ask to me because I do the payments,I ask if I can speak to her supervisor or manager but she refused and than she put me through to the fraud department I hold on for about 10 minutes before I cut the call.I phoned back than a more pleasant and well mannerd agent help me through the situation and explained the way forward because I pay my accounts always over so that there's always a credit.I must now sent a 3 mouth bank statement and a copy of my ID to get my credit back.Ackermans some of your agents don't have a clue what they are doing and there interaction with clients are poor they could've look on the system and noticed that the account holder is a Mr not a Miss.

I was robbed and lost my original lay-by slip. When I went to the store to alert them about this incident I was told i cannot receive the money I had deposited for the lay-buy although I had my id with me. On the Ackermans website it clearly states that in the case of a lay-buy I am fully eligible for a refund without original slip provided I have a valid id as the original purchaser. I am highly disappointed and will no longer make any purchases at Ackermans”

“Ackermans refuses to close my account and treated me unfairly
Complaint:
I am extremely disappointed with the way Ackermans has handled my account closure request.
On 25 September 2025, my account issue was settled, and I requested that Ackermans close my account. Instead of assisting, the store blocked my account and demanded access to my personal bank statement, which I believe is unreasonable. Despite my repeated requests, the account has still not been closed.
To make matters worse, when I contacted customer support, an agent named Leticia was very rude and unprofessional towards me. This level of service is unacceptable.
I feel my rights as a consumer are being violated and I am being treated unfairly. I want Ackermans to:
1. Close my account immediately without unnecessary demands for documents.
2. Provide a formal apology for the rude treatment I received from their agent.
If this matter is not resolved, I will escalate it further to the relevant ombudsman.
Desired Outcome: Account closure confirmation and an apology for poor treatment.”

“Ackermans is useless with protecting its customers!!! We've found out a few days ago only that our Ackermans card was defrauded a whole R5000!! And that was already in March we have not been notified once!! Other retail stores has options in place whenever there is something fishy going on with your card they notify you immediately!
Now they must run an investigation first then we will hear the outcome... But I refuse to pay for things we did not buy or use.
I will definitely think twice in the future to get anything from Ackermans again”
