“Ackermans service is totally disgusting. I've bought a school pants on 30 December. I took it to a seamstress to shorten it. She wanted to know who work on the hem. I told her the pants is brand new. Refer to photo. The seam was skew and the stitching was horrible. I paid her to correct it. On 14 January. 1st day of school I noticed that the seam on the leg was open. I had no choice but to hand stitch it. After numerous phone calls and emails they offered me a gift card to the value of the pants. Refusing to refund me for the pants or the cost of the seamstress and traveling. Sending me an email that the case is closed successfully. I went back to the store to exchange it but they were out of stock,. The manager had the odesity to tell me that I was the only one to complain. The refered me to the
Kuilsriver branch. Again traveling cost. Yesterday I went to the kuilsriver branch., they went to the back to fetch the pants, letting me wait for nearly 20 minutes. I inspected the pants. The stitching was coming loose. See pictures. I would not advise Anyone to buy at this store.

“My wife went to Ackermans Blue Route mall on the 23th December to collect the clothes what she pre pick.I'm the account holder so when the my wife phoned me for the opt nr I told her that I didn't received it, the cashier tired again and as before I didn't get it.The cashier phoned customer care.My wife informed the cashier that she is not the account holder,on the system showed Mr and not Miss,still the agent ask the security questions which my wife obviously failed.My card was blocked without contacting me.I phoned customer service and the agent were not helpful very rude and not listening to me I told her that I'm the account holder and the questions should've been ask to me because I do the payments,I ask if I can speak to her supervisor or manager but she refused and than she put me through to the fraud department I hold on for about 10 minutes before I cut the call.I phoned back than a more pleasant and well mannerd agent help me through the situation and explained the way forward because I pay my accounts always over so that there's always a credit.I must now sent a 3 mouth bank statement and a copy of my ID to get my credit back.Ackermans some of your agents don't have a clue what they are doing and there interaction with clients are poor they could've look on the system and noticed that the account holder is a Mr not a Miss.

I was robbed and lost my original lay-by slip. When I went to the store to alert them about this incident I was told i cannot receive the money I had deposited for the lay-buy although I had my id with me. On the Ackermans website it clearly states that in the case of a lay-buy I am fully eligible for a refund without original slip provided I have a valid id as the original purchaser. I am highly disappointed and will no longer make any purchases at Ackermans”

“Ackermans refuses to close my account and treated me unfairly
Complaint:
I am extremely disappointed with the way Ackermans has handled my account closure request.
On 25 September 2025, my account issue was settled, and I requested that Ackermans close my account. Instead of assisting, the store blocked my account and demanded access to my personal bank statement, which I believe is unreasonable. Despite my repeated requests, the account has still not been closed.
To make matters worse, when I contacted customer support, an agent named Leticia was very rude and unprofessional towards me. This level of service is unacceptable.
I feel my rights as a consumer are being violated and I am being treated unfairly. I want Ackermans to:
1. Close my account immediately without unnecessary demands for documents.
2. Provide a formal apology for the rude treatment I received from their agent.
If this matter is not resolved, I will escalate it further to the relevant ombudsman.
Desired Outcome: Account closure confirmation and an apology for poor treatment.”

The funny part is the card was with me the whole time
I hve never went to Randburg and made a purchase worse of all at Pep stores

“Ackermans is useless with protecting its customers!!! We've found out a few days ago only that our Ackermans card was defrauded a whole R5000!! And that was already in March we have not been notified once!! Other retail stores has options in place whenever there is something fishy going on with your card they notify you immediately!
Now they must run an investigation first then we will hear the outcome... But I refuse to pay for things we did not buy or use.

“Yesterday I went to buy a set of three track pants for my 2 year old, I thought the waist had a rubber bank for stretching but only to find out that was not the case. The pants left a huge gab on my child's waist.
I am so disappointed because everything that I buy from them has quality issues, its either its the type of poor material used and the way their clothes discolour and change shape as you wash them.
I strongly recommend that people should look into buying from other stores if they want best value for your money”
