“I am the type of shopper that deliberates, ponders, and reads into all purchases for months, maybe even years on end. The Fat Herbie by Ashland Leather is no exception. To help out fellow purchasing analysts, I will surmise my experiences with Ashland and the Fat Herbie after about one week of use. First, the wallet. The Fat Herbie, to me, is like a work of art. Let’s start with the material, which in my case is natural shell cordovan. There is no finer leather in the world; Horween produces it to perfection, and Ashland’s team crafts a beautiful and functional piece. The Fat Herbie is a wonderful size, thin enough to disappear in your pocket, but large enough to hold every card your heart desires. While the Fat Herbie does offer a bigger footprint than a standard wallet, it is also significantly thinner while providing “context” to the leather. Context, in this case means the wallet has enough surface area to really let the shell shine, and my gosh it does! Feeling this wallet is therapeutic to me, it’s so soft, supple, and enjoyable to use. The card layout is efficient and works beautifully, and I find myself very pleased with how easy cash is to stow and access. The workmanship and sewing are top-notch, as good as I have ever seen. Ashland also provides legendary customer service and a lifetime warranty on their products. This wallet is for a person who truly appreciates fine leather, American Craftsmanship, and a highly functional wallet. As a final comment, I emailed Ashland just to let them know how much I am enjoying the wallet, and Matt, the owner’s brother responded! Matt shared photos of his Fat Herbie after 11 years, and wow does it look awesome! Great people, great product, unbeatable warranty.”

“I was in love with the Capone ever since I saw it in a “Best wallets of 2022” video, and I bought it the same day. Once I saw the Capone in Brown cypress, and heard it was similar to then Dublin I had to buy it. On top of the beautiful leather and especially the vintage brass money clip the wallet is just gorgeous and the workmanship is amazing. Ordered a vertical Bugs Moran in Brown Cypress and a natural CXL valet tray, after I received them I had to order a Capone in Brown Cypress as well as two 1 shots and another valet tray. “I ordered the Johnny the Fox cigar-colored shell cordovan wallet and it has exceeded my expectations. It's hard to put it down! I had never heard of shell cordovan leather until watching the Ashland Leather YouTube videos by Phil, but now I love them so much I don't think one wallet is enough. I have my eye on getting a Fat Herbie style next. It's just a matter of which leather to choose. I love how these wallets break in over time and develop a patina. I love the smell when they first come out of the box. Their styles are great, and I love the creative names of each of the wallets. And I haven't had to contact Ashland beyond the purchase, but I've heard from others that their customer service is top-notch, so that's a good feeling. I would highly recommend getting one of these wallets!”
