“Aston Hotel was perfect for getting away from it all, the food was great (and reasonably priced0and staff very friendly, the room was lovely and one of the best things about the room was the amazing shower, we were lucky to have a really hot weekend and the room was well air conditioned, the grounds to the hotel were amazing and even though we only stayed two nights I went back home really rested , hotle is also central to lots of other sites to see, I would love to go back and most certainly will.”

“The Aston Hotel in Dumfries is beautiful and an ideal setting for the wedding I was attending. However I was disappointed that I was charged £15 per room for early check in, when I was clearly part of the wedding party.
Breakfast was disappointing, having to wait close to 10 minutes for a table. The area is clearly not big enough for the amount of guests.
The rooms are spacious and the showers an enjoyable experience.”

Disappointing thing for me was check in time! I had booked 3 rooms ( I think they are expensive rooms compared to many other hotels I have stayed in ) as we were guests at a wedding in Crichton Church and Easterbrook Hall all of which share grounds. I had asked for an early check in but had to pay an extra £15 per room for this which I think is a bit steep . No negotiation!!! £15 per room and room would be guaranteed at 12 o clock.”

“Like many hotels, The Aston has the benefit of a nice location, comfortable and attractive accomodation and a good range of food & drink options. But what makes my stays there above average is the attitude and professionalism of the staff. Whenever I've had any issue which needed to be resolved - which has been rarely and never of much consequence - the team at The Aston are always willing and able to address it efficiently and with good grace. They are always friendly, smiling and approachable and if only more hotels understood just how big a difference that makes to the quality of the stay, then they would certainly be in with a chance of attracting more business.
Reasonable room rates, food and accomodation will go so far - Good service provided with the right attitude are the things which truly determine how good an experience your hotel stay is.”

“Had a lovely 3 day stay at Alston Hotel, Dumfries. Beautiful grounds with lovely walks, Reception was very friendly and helpful. Rooms were first class, very clean and tidy. Food in the restaurant was very good, our only complaint would be that the service in restaurant was a bit slow but as we were on holiday this did not spoil it for us.”
