“I have had no problem with Avro. I have paid monthly by direct debit since April 2019, and their rates have been and still are competitive. In April this year I was paid a timely rebate, because my credit balance could be reduced. I’ve no complaints.”
“I have to say that I consider myself fortunate compared to the many other poor customer reviews expressed about Avro Energy (AE).
My dual fuel supply contract with AE commenced in July 2020 at very competive prices.
Every month I received an email reminder to submit my meter readings, which I did online. Resultant monthly billing was accurate.
Toward end of 1st year fixed term tariff I received a end of tariff notification and selected a new 1 year fixed term offer, also very competitive versus other providers.
I had accumulated a credit on my account which I asked to have refunded on 19. May and, whilst I had to send 2 email reminders, on 4. June AE confirmed that they would refund the credit balance which subsequently arrived in my bank a/c on
23. June. Therefore my overall experience with AE over the past 15 months has been positive....
Food for thought though:
what with the significant rise in wholesale energy prices over recent months, it will be interesting to see whether Avro's business model is sustainable, or whether I will need to seek a new energy supplier....”
“My bills have reduced by more than 20% on average each month. I was previously with bulb and they were a real disappointment. I’m not switching again I’m really happy I chose Avro Energy”
“Any time I have to get in touch with them I find them very friendly and helpful.I have had to arrange a change to my old contract ,they were able to get me a new contract at a better price!”
“Terrible customer service and overbill which makes no sense. We moved into a new property which was vacant a year prior to us moving in. Avro still continued billing the property for a year when the landlord informed them that no one was living in it. When we moved in, to our shocking suprise we were told that we need to pay the arrears of 1 year electric. They are scammers and think people pluck money from the trees to pay their ridiculous electric bill. I,m glad octopus has taken over and will help sort out this mess.”
“Everything was wrong with this company and I was pleased to hear they closed today.
I could not believe they ever got a good rating, Customer Service has been non existent for the last 9 months and I could not wait to switch. Quite how they were a recommended so highly by Which? creates doubt in my mind of their competence and advice!”
“Have been advised today by Avro (even though a previous e Mail on 1 Sept advised an increase of 12.54%) that our dual energy bills will be increased by 39%. Unfortunately, their response to every question is “standard”. No interest in trying to reduce the increase and stated that theirs is the best price and all other energy companies are in the same place. Not true, have this morning switched to another provider and incurred an increase of just over 11%. Sad thing is that our £400 credit will not be processed for 7 weeks and then a further 10 days to reach our bank account. Would not recommend this company.”
“Absolutely shambolic/non existent customer service. Never keep their promises. Always overbill. Never response to support requests (wait times are over 1 month to receive a reply). This company is not fit to conduct business.”
“Avoid at all costs, Went with them as they were lowest price. They didn’t update my bill for over a year, I continued making my payments. when we swopped suppliers they hit me with an £800 bill. This is because they were not updating the bills even though I was providing meter readings. You can’t speak to them, took 6 weeks to respond to an email asking how this happened and to explain the bill, the advisor was very rude and advised that they have passed it to a debt collection agency with a 35% uplift.
Very untrustworthy company customer service is none existent.”
“I will be complaining to the energy ombudsman
As all the others - shocking customer service -
3 months to get overpayment back
Account now closed and waiting for refund of credit on account
Got through on the phone pretending I am a new customer only for the phone to be cut off!”
“I was happy to join Avro Energy a few years ago - monthly billing suited my needs.
A couple of months ago I emailed to let them know of my impending move and asked about transferring my account to the new property. No response since. In fact I emailed several times and still no response.
On my final day I did as instructed on the website and provided all the details they needed for a final meter ready to their Change of Tenancy dept. A few days later I received an over-estimated bill - £36.00 in credit. I knew I would never get through to them on the phone so have emailed again for an updated final bill. Let them try and get money out of my account!!
I wonder if Martin Lewis will have anything to say about them.”
“Anybody who is thinking of switching to Avro should read the 1 star and 2 star reviews which are primarily from customers like me who have tried to get refunds of credit balances and who AVRO have completely ignored.
You can't get through on the phone (have tried numerous times), and they don't respond to emails (have sent several over the last 3 weeks without any response other than the first communication which got an automated message saying they will be back to me with 5-10 working days - they haven't).
I have even sent email to the MD - Jake Brown - no reply and registered an official complaint by email - again I have not received any reply.
Lots of people are owed far more than I am owed but the modus operandii of this despicable organisation seems to be if they have your money they will keep it and hope that you will give up.
AVOID!”
“WE moved to AVRO as they advertised a good rate and could read our smart meter (smets2).
After moving they were unable to access out readings so we had to email readings via their web site every month!
After we left they continued to take direct debits after the new provider had started taking payments.
Emails go unanswered and the phone line cuts you off unless you want to join AVRO !
They still owe us hundreds of pounds they took from our account but will not communicate with us.
Nothing but trouble with this provider. AVOID at all costs.”
“AVRO IS A SCAM COMPANY - BEWARE.
Closed the account in May 2021 with a credit balance of £92.68. Several e-mails sent to get the balance repaid. Fobbed off with generic replies saying it will be repaid in 10 working days. Nearly 4 month's later and refund still not received. Now given them final notice before referring to OFGEM or proceedings in the County court.”
