So I called them and was told if the item is more than R3000 I have to wait until it is delivered and that a rating is given before I will even see any of my money. I have never ever "not shipped" an item yet I am treated like a CRIMINAL and FRAUDSTER. Their community watch team is just as pathetic as the Bidorbuys system and simply refuses to help or even make contact.High fees, success rate fees, and poor customer service. At the end of the day, Bidorbuy always wins and the rest of us must suffer. SHAME ON YOU CRAIG LUBBE.

My experience was that of being defrauded over purchase of a solar panel - the advert was a fraudulent misrepresentation of what the product actually was; when I posted a negative review, this was swiftly removed - my opinion is that BIDORBUY is a scam site”
“New payout rules not communicated to sellers
In a rather surprising occurrence recently a payment was made by a customer and it was allocated to my BOB account.
There was an option for withdrawal to my bank account. Which I did.
After a few days I was surprised that the money wasn't yet transferred to my account.
I went into my BOB account and saw a notice that my withdrawal was suspended. No reason given. The parcel was already sent and the tracking number updated on the system and given to the customer.
I called BOB (and surprisingly the call was quickly answered, no waiting or listening to some weird music).
The operator explained to me that BOB only transfer the money once the customer has received the parcel. This came as a a surprise to me as it wasn't that way before. Seeing that the shipping fee is included in the payment, how is one supposed to pay for the shipping if BOB does not want to pay the money that was paid by the customer for shipping?
Also, why does BOB not clearly indicate that no money will be transferred until the recipient received the shipment?
It is a new thing and should clearly be communicated with the customer (seller).
Not just suspend payment without information the seller, only to find that in red letters on your account it says "payment suspended call BOB". Why must I call on my expense to hear why the payment has been suspended?

Furthermore BOB should clearly mention this new rules to their customers and not just suspend the payout without informing the seller.
I was surprised to find in red letters a note only stating "payment suspended - contact BOB", after a few days.
Why must I call BOB on my expense to find out why my payment was suspended.
This should be clearly communicated to sellers.
Here is an excerpt from the BOB website Q&A on payouts:
"Complete the required information and submit the form. Payouts are processed every business day.
Payout requests received before 9 a. m. on a business day are processed the same day and in most cases reflect in the recipient's bank account by the next day. Requests received after 9 a.m. are processed the following business day. Payouts are not processed over weekends or public holidays."
Mine wasn't processed the following business day, because it is now already the following week. And hadn't I call on my own expense I still wouldn't have known about this new unwritten rules.
The level professionalism of BOB is beginning to decline and I am worried that it will worsen when the proposed changes come into place with the so called "BobShop", which I personally think is a stupid name and doesn't sound very professional.”

Here's the thing
Many items are from overseas in which case you wait up to 55 days to recieve your goods. You are still responsible for the extra customs duties and so on. Local goods always take at least a week to get to me.
Although bidorbuy can resolve most issues with sellers, there have been times they have been unable to assist and I have had to resolve the problem on my own...
Then theres ebay
Many items can be bought and shipped in where all costs thereof are clearly stated and the process is pain free. Everytime there has been an issue with a seller ebay stepped in and resolved the issue. The customer is king and you are protected full stop, no questions asked.
Amazon is my favourite. Theres a reason why Jeff Bezos is the world's richest man. Amazon is head and shoulders above the rest in terms of service.
If I choose the fast shipping option, items always arrive within a week to 9 days. Every time. I have more often had items from amazon ship, clear customs and get to me faster than bidorbuy. Again, all costs are clearly stated and the process is pain free. If customs duties are more than what was charged, amazon will pay the excess. If it is less than stated, they refund the difference back to your card...
I have to also mention that ebay and amazon are both mostly cheaper than buying off bidorbuy and takealot.
I do believe in supporting local, but at this stage and after 2 decades of bidorbuy being operational, they would be able to outperform local deliveries against amazon which is much further away.”
“I have shopped on Bid or Buy, now Bob Shop for many years and bought some wonderful things and only dealt with lovely sellers. I recently purchased a ring from Trojan Jewels which was not what I anticipated in that it was too small. I asked if I could return the ring, at my cost to courier and in return offered to buy 4 x items on my watch list in exchange. Elena the owner flatly refused. When I expressed how disappointed I was, she replied don't be disappointed, she was sticking to the rules and paid Bid or Buy a fee. I would have even offered to pay the fee to recoup some of my money in exchange. At this point I gave up and called Bob Shop to complain, to be told there was nothing they could do. All I could do was rate the seller and that I was not happy. Sadly I will not be using this site again, due to one bad seller who actually would have made more money from me had she just been decent. Not only am I disappointed, I am shocked that people can even behave this way!”
“New shipping flat rate ,great ,but logistically a nightmare.Simply not at home,to accommodate the courier for parcel collection. Exercise then falls out of the bus. And nullifies anything good that might come from the flat rate. Good for "stay at home ,mums" and house husbands. Otherwise, not working.”

I saw an advert from a "supplier" to whom I have asked if it was possible to supply more quantities, he replied saying yes a few hours later he did another advert with same picture with a different price with exact same quantity. To me that is a sign of scammers attempting to do their "job". Use this system carefully!”
