Its a scam just forget it : People are constantly saying they haven't received their purchase , don't get refunded , and get handed a bunch of excuses . When I dealt with them what they didn't know is i already knew what they were going to say so i let it all happen and recorded all the evidence now its all being handled by www.actionfraud.co.uk so its curtains guys . What I don't get is how the domain points at amazon ? https://www.whois.com/whois/bookdepository.com its like who are dealing with here one or the other ?????

A book sent to me was so bad I had to wrap up the book andade sure the stench got well contained in packaging. I ordered same book at another good book supplier and at half the price and the spine in mint condition. I lost all hope and faith in book depository. I reckoned upon the book CameE out of a tip. No more to say.

Instead of two-three days it took nine. I think they buy to third parties and resell it.

Be very careful when ordering. Systematically they have change a letter in my mail adress when I order anything, meaning I wont get any info or know when to pick my things up. This is the second time I have to cancel an order because of this. This time i screenshotted the correct filled out form, pressed next and there it is, a wrong email that I have never added. And it's not in chromes lists of adresses either.

If I could give no stars I would. I bought a collection of books for my fiancé just after xmas and nothing has arrived yet. I had to contact them to see where my order was after a month and got a reply saying it wasn't in stock.. no information on when it would be back and delivered to me. A month later I still have not received my order and have not heard a reply from this company yet. This order was €123 and my money is gone with no product received. If they don't carry the books they should not take your money and "hope" it will come in soon. That's not good enough. I will never use this company again as I have heard nothing back from them so I think they were hoping I would just forget all about it. DO NOT USE, SCAMMERS!

Extremely annoyed, they have dispatched the book late and didn't advised as to why or what even give me an option to cancel. The person who I brought he book for has now moved. And they will not allow me to cancel the order. I have emailed customer service and it's like I am talking to a robot!! I just wanted an apology and refund and it just seems they are not capable of this.

Ordered a hardback leather-bound red/gold/black edition of ‘Dracula and other horror classics” to add to my new collection, deliberately not buying from Amazon as they only advertised a silver edition (never had any problems with them and products always as advertised). However BD sent the silver version and upon querying this claimed images are intended as a guide only. This is unacceptable as the photographed item and the written description (eg “full colour illustrations throughout”) bear no resemblance to the item I received and there is no footnote to indicate you may not receive the advertised item-if I knew this I would have avoided and look elsewhere. The customer service in dealing with this has been poor. After the initial complaint, no offer to rectify situation was made and the advert is still showing red/gold version, which is blatant false advertising. After having to repeat details again they then offered a refund upon return (with no apology whatsoever) but are unwilling to pay the postage. I keep receiving stock responses from various people. This is their error and distance selling regulations state if item is not as described then they are liable. After threatening them with Trading Standards they said they would be in touch “very soon” but since then nothing despite my repeated chasing (via email as they have no phone number). My advice to anyone considering ordering from this company to avoid them and choose instead one of the many other more reputable and honest booksellers available online.

Charged twice for book order. After much nonsense emails from customer service I eventually said I was going to involve Trading Standards. This seemed to work. No one seems to know what they are doing or looking for or is it a ploy to keep the over charges. Kept asking me questions they already knew the answers to.

In the name of free delivery, the book that I ordered never reached the designated address. Upon contacting, they asked me to contact the local post office without naming a single one (I wonder if they air drop to any random company? Won't the company have the ties with at least one post office company?). Apparently because its a free delivery they don't care about it and refused to give me a refund when I emailed them about the problem. Never going to order from them. Not recommended at all.

Have bought from this company for yrs. Recently bought an old edition of the Brownie handbook. Unfortunately I received an up to date version so reordered. Same thing happened again. When it came to returning the goods I was told I couldn’t return them in the UK, I had to return them to Australia at my expense! Turns out a new edition was launched over the summer and they clearly didn’t want me to return old stock. They have been using photos of an edition which is many years out of date. I complained to amazon who agreed that this was unfair and refunded me. This is blantant deceit and I would beware of buying from this company again. Interestingly I made a further complaint and was told that I could return the books - to an address less than half an hr from my home!!

A dodgy London based (if this can be believed) outfit, who sell used gear as new and the refused to have the item returned so that they can refuse refund. A godawful company with absolutely no customer service and zero care for what they are selling. AVOID these crooks at all cost !!!

Book Depository sent me the wrong book and had clearly mixed up my order with another customer's; his label was visible beneath mine on the package. I've been trying for several weeks to get either the correct book or a refund, to no avail. Every time I ask whether the correct book has been sent, I enter the same customer service script where they tell me it was delivered; I explain that it was the wrong book; I answer a series of questions about the title I received, details of the order and the package, and my address; and they promise to send out a replacement, with no indication that they have done so yet. I've repeated this circus three times so far. I am giving up. The other book I ordered took nearly a month to arrive anyway, and while they blamed USPS, the problem actually seemed to be with their shipping contractor Liberty Express / On Demand Mail Services. Book Depository (now owned by Amazon) seems too much of a mess to bother with again. They also post fake five-star reviews on Trustpilot. Nasty company with bad-faith fake customer service; not the place I remember ordering books from in past years.

Worst customer service! We purchased multiple books in the same transaction, and when checking out, we put our postal address down correctly for an address in AUSTRALIA. Only after initiating contact with them, we found that they shipped our goods to BARBADOS! The two country names are not even closely spelt to each other to warrant a mistake such as that. For a book seller, a literacy inaptitude mistake like this is somewhat ironic, yet, borderline comedic. My two year old could do better data entry than that for goodness sakes Noting other negative reviews on another, and their 'copy and paste' response from the company in reply to those comments clearly shows that the Book Depository is not customer centric at all. All we are asking for is our money back, and to be told after multiple back-and-forth emails that it can take up to 10 weeks for the money to be returned is utterly deplorable. If you want better customer service, please be sure to shop elsewhere. Shame on you Book Depository!

This is the only place with majority favourable reviews. I ordered books from them in the past. I order something on Dec 6th. It didn't arrive by January 17th (as it said it would) so I e-mailed their customer service and was told that it would arrive until Feb 5th. I asked for a refund (only $8) and they told me I need to go to the post office and see if its there. Despite the fact that they have mailed books straight to my house no problem. I've been looking online and it seems like a lot of people are having the same experience. No books being shipped, stall tactics and no refunds. They either have lost access to books or don't have enough money to ship out all the orders. So you're really entering more of a lottery in which if you win you're shipped books for slightly cheaper than amazon. But more likely you're going to lose your money. I'm okay, the amount of money I'm out was very small. But future consumers should be warned.

I ordered books yesterday morning for a birthday present for my grandson in Australia. Unfortunately not being too compute literature I didn't enter the delivery address. I immediately recognized my mistake and emailed. Have now done so 4 times but have had no reply. They do say reply due within 24 hours so am bitterly disappointed. Books, will come to me in Scotland which are no good to me. Why can't they acknowledge my emails. Very frustrating not being able to speak to someone..Not good customer service at all
