Received a book with a different cover to what was advertised. This was very disappointing as I had specifically bought that book rather than a cheaper version in order to get a nicer cover. Contacted customer service but they asked me to pay for return postage. I complained but the company did not want to take any responsibility. I will not buy any books from this company again.

This company gives no information to customers about their orders, order status, shipment tracking, etc. My first order took 6 weeks to arrive, and I never received any information or tracking information. For my second order, I heard nothing from them for 3 weeks. Then they suddenly sent me an email saying my order had been cancelled! NOTHING MORE! No explanation whatsoever. If you go on their website to check your account, it's the same. NO INFORMATION about orders except that they took your money. I've never seen anything like this. It's very irresponsible for a business to do this. I will not be using Book Depository anymore.

Our daughters purchased four books for Father’s Day. Two arrived just before the day. One on Monday and still awaiting last one. My problem is that the third book is not what was ordered. They ordered “A History of Ireland “ by Richard Killeen in English. We received “Une Breve Histoire De L’Irelande” by Richard Killeen in French!! Horribly disappointed. What recourse do we have?

TERRIBLE They sendn using normal post so the order takes a very long time to arrive. No tracking service so it can get lost and they won't be responsible. After the long wait I received the book with a different cover that the one I ordered. I have complained and they asked me to return it but they are not covering the cost. REALLY BAD SERVICE. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THEM. I am now going to buy the book somewhere else and I have lost 10EUR for shipping the book to them. Also don't know when they will refund the amount paid for the book, it is ridiculous!

Bunch of as*holes! Bunch of as*holes! I ordered back in April and after 2 and a half months of waiting they decided to cancel my order even though I never asked for it. (the estimated delivery was supposed to happen 2 months ago) They said that they cant get the items, than I checked their site and ALL of my stuff were in stock ready to ship within 4 business days. The problem is that their prices became almost double. I wrote them 8 massages so far for compensation but they just sent back almost the same letter every time, they didn't really want to help. If you want good for yourself never order from them.

Book depository is absolutely TERRIBLE! DO NOT BUY FROM THEM!!!! I ORDERED A BOOK MARXH 20TH. THEY CLAIM IT WAS DELIVERED APRIL 7TH. PROVIDED NO TRACKING NUMBER AND I'VE CONTACTED THEM AND AMAZON NEARLY 10 TIMES. BOOK DEPOSITORY HAS NEVER, EVER REPLIED AND IS REFUSING TO GIVE MY MONEY BACK!!!!! HAD TO REPURCHASE THE BOOK FROM AMAZON DIRECTLY AND NOW I AM OUT THE COST OF THE BOOK! THEY'RE WORTHLESS. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM BOOK DEPOSITORY EVER! SAVE YOURSELF MONEY AND TIME.

Day 38 after ordering...delivery awaited!!!! I ordered a book on the 1st of April to the Republic of Ireland. The website said 4-6 days for delivery. It is now the 9th of May and the book still hasn't arrived!!! I have contacted them numerous times and was asked to wait a further 5-7 days on 2 occasions. On my latest correspondence, I was asked to reconfirm my shipping address and the name of the book I had ordered despite the order number going throughout the email thread. Wouldn't inspire confidence. Will not be using their service again.

They sent me the incorrect book and then refused to send the correct one. Customer service was very rude. I lost over $16 so I can't take the chance to order from them again.

I didn't receive my order for a month delivery for buying a book. I asked them but the respond is they do not have the tracking number, and asked me to search in my local post office without the tracking number. How silly is it? I had lost so much money and they didn't responsible for it. Please be careful not to buy anything from this portal.

Worst experience ever. Buyer beware!!! I ordered a audio and book, book never arrived, I complained and they were incredibly rude and blame me for their mistake. They told me they would ship another order but I explained it was a Christmas present as it was now Jan so there was no need but they advised they had already sent. The second order surprisingly, never arrived. Absolutely awful service and I never got what I paid for.

Terrible. Ordered Dr Seuss box set for my grand-daughter on 09 December. After many emails back and forth ... On 30 December they tell me they can't fulfil my order and Give me a refund. Merry Christmas ya filthy animals

Please avoid this company they are Dreadful, I ordered a book at the beginning of December for my son Christmas present. The book was (and still is) clearly stated as available, dispatched in 2-5 days. 10 days later I email to ask where it is only to be told that their supplier doesn't currently have stock. Bizarrely they are still quite argumentative and seem convinced it is available to dispatch in 2-5 days even though they don't have any stock!!! Spend your money in a proper book shop that holds stock, Not with a bunch of chancers that rely on their suppliers to have stock and don't care if their customers are disappointed

I will urge anyone considering using the site to completely avoid it - you simply risk receiving a completely different book than the one you have ordered after which YOU have to pay the return of the book, which in most cases will be close to the price of the book itself. I ordered a book on the 25th of November and received it last Friday, 13th of December. After seeing that the book is completely different from the one shown on the website and included in my order confirmation, I contacted Book Depository who finally agreed to reimburse me for the book if I send it back to them, but they refuse to pay for the shipment back, which makes the whole reimbursement pointless as that means that I will effectively not receive any money back. This is simply a matter of misleading customers. One thing is sending a completely different item than the one ordered, but another is to subsequently refuse to properly reimburse the customer. This is simply an appalling and miserable way of "driving a business".

Avoid at all costs as this company will take your money and not send you the books you ordered. Make sure you pay via credit card and then discuss with them and get your money refunded. I had a constant battle trying to find out where my books were and they kept fobbing me off with excuses.

I ordered approx 13 books on 6 December and paid via PayPal. I then received a message from the Book Depository claiming there was an issue with my PayPal payment? They cancelled my order without even bothering to contact me before doing so. When I checked my bank and PayPal account the money has been paid to Book Depository and no refund has been received in either account. I have therefore paid for 13 books which I have not received and when I contacted customer services at Book Depository I was basically fobbed off. I have raised a complaint with PayPal about this company.

I'm in absolute awe in how terrible this company is. I ordered 5 days ago and still my order is awaiting shipment. After nearly 20 emails back and forth they finally tell me they have no stock (not what the order page told me). After telling me they have found stock I come to find still my order has not been shipped! Maybe I'm missing something?

Book arrived damaged, I asked for it to be replaced only to be told (a) they wanted a photo the damage (b) I had to pay the return postage. Told the truthfully I had no way of sending a photo as I don't have a smart phone or camera. Was told no photo no refund. Customer service is non-existent. Don't deal with this abysmal Company

Appalling customer service! I have now contacted them 3 times about a missing item from my order that I bought and paid for but wasn't delivered. No reply whatsoever....still waiting
