I received a full refund though I had not asked for one. I would have preferred to get the service. But they are honest.

I paid them to promote my book, but they didn't do it. A year later they sent me a survey asking how they did. I told them that they failed to perform the service, and received an email. They asked me to let them make a new cover for my book, which I was excited about. I told them what my character looks like, and they asked me to find two stock photos. They made it sound like they were bending over backwards. They said, 'We pay for everything....I think I am slightly crazy...don't tell everyone I do this!' The stock photos cost just over a 3rd of what I paid them, and their 'design' method would have taken five mins. I wanted a black teenager wearing armour and a red cape. The'aint no stock photos that come close to that, but I thought they'd edit the detail in. Nope. They wanted to bang one photo on the top of the other and call it a cover. Because I couldn't find a black girl in armour with bushy hair, the cover proposed was gonna be a floating head in front of some burning trees. Anyone with any basic photoshop skills can do this. Even a newbie with no photoshop skills could figure out how to do this. I told them I changed my mind and to either do what I paid for or give me a refund. The review isn't one star because they gave me a refund.

Hi, we were going to provide the full service you paid and a free cover for you too. The reason the service couldn't start was that you didn't have reviews. We can't start a promotion for a book with no reviews. We emailed you about this and finally you responded to our survey and we offered a free ebook cover to help you. I am sorry you aren't happy, but you have received all your money back. We keep our word. We refund where we can't help.

Waste of money. Amazon ads were a disaster, so they offered to switch to Facebook ads. I ran an ad of my own in parallel and then switched it off to see whether it was my ad or theirs making the sales. A week after I turned off my ad, the sales stopped. I have no experience with this kind of stuff, but even a rank amateur like me can do better. I've asked for a full refund, let's see if I get it. I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1 because the people responding to my emails have been polite. But at the end of the day, my investment has flopped.

I bought BGS's $149 package. Unfortunately, it produced minimal results--3 sales (at the reduced price required by BGS), incl. 1 sales after a direct mailing program at the last moment. And, to preempt the (what looks like a standard BGS's) response that some books simply don't sell, mine has been selling through other direct mailing (and cheaper) services, as well as for free, through word-of-mouth on GRs. I was just hoping that BGS would be more efficient and multifaceted, and less effort from me would be required. I was wrong. I have to give credit to BGS team: they do respond, albeit not always with very helpful advice, esp. on FB. All in all, not a worthwhile investment for me.

Dear Laurence, I'm sorry to say that I didn't see any impact in my sales. Most disappointing was the email sent to 100000 subscribers (it might have brought 40 sales) + the hero spot on your mail. Maybe you can prove me wrong with the statistics of the Twitter clicks. My book - although having 151 reviews on Amazon.com with an average rating of 4.6 - might just not be right for your audience. I expected a lot more given that a 300 EUR investment with bookbub brings me sales of up to 4500 EUR the following 3 months. (The bad thing is that my new books are not accepted by bookbub.) My 200 EUR investment with BGS brought no ROI worth mentioning. Sorry. Best, Marc

I purchased a "tweet blitz" package for my time travel romance "Rings of Passage" over the Martin Luther King holiday weekend (in the US) for $39.99. Unfortunately, based on my KDP sales report, I sold no books, not one. Some of the tweets included a link to my book trailer. The views for this trailer only increased by no more than 10. I hate to leave an overall rating of "poor," because BooksGoSocial has always been generous with its promotion packages, going over the tweets originally agreed upon, and I appreciate that. Personnel are very courteous and helpful. However, the rating is based on this particular tweet blitz which really did very little good for me. I wonder if Twitter is falling out of favor, or is perhaps not effective for selling books, as it once was.

Karla, We want all our clients to be happy with our service. Some books simply don't sell. Have a look at the other reviews to verify that. If you want your money back, for the Tweet blitz, we will give it to you. We are the only book promotion company that provides a refund guarantee. Just email me and you will be refunded within 24 hours. We support authors by ensuring they get a fair service and can test their books in the market without risk. Laurence O'Bryan BooksGoSocial.com

I hate to say I am not thrilled with the service. The most beneficial thing I got from my membership was how to mount my own promotions. I found that what I did on my own after the initial BGS tweets was a lot more effective. Even when my book was short listed as an Indie Book of the year I saw no increase in sales. Everyone at BGS is very nice and I have no complaints with them. I'm just glad I never signed up for a bigger campaign. I'm promoting my second book myself and have seen more interest this way.

Elizabeth, if you don't think you got good value, and on going value, I must ask you to request a refund. We do not want a single dissatisfied customer. My email address is: lob@yourasms.com. We work 7 days a week, 365 days a year, promoting all our authors. Sometimes the public won't buy. I wish I had a magic wand to make them!

Let me first say that I'm a marketing and public relations professional by trade, so I often have a different insight than many when I make purchases like this because I know how this stuff should look. I bought this service because they did a great job of marketing their service. Not so much for my book. For instance, there was no real clear direction about how the tweets would be delivered. I added my own hashtags to the tweets after noticing that they don't usually use them for the tweets they share for other authors. The hashtag is a VIRAL part of any marketing effort because it expands your reach tremendously. I don't think any author should have to ask for hashtags to be used for a service that touts itself as being well versed in all things related to book marketing. I didn't sell any books during the period, but I'm still a brand new author, so I'm not too miffed about that. I AM, however, very disappointed tgat I've received very little followup since the tweet period ended even though it was marketed as if I'd receive routine emails from them offering other opportunities for promoting my book for a year. I even asked why I hadn't received the newsletter that they say that they mail and I was told I had to sign up…but, why wouldn't I have been automatically added when I bought the service. Why should I have had to click some link to add my name to an email list? I'm beginning to think maybe I don't need to write another book. Just start a book "marketing" service and shake authors down for their hard earned money under the guise of genuinely wanting to help them sell books. I hope that I'll begin to receive more followup from this group, but I'm not holding my breath. My book is Deferred Consumption by Shana James.

Shana, I would like you to accept a refund. You signed up 21st June and you received emails on the 21st & a week later on our new member follow up system. These included a welcome message & instructions in text, video and an attached guide. We also emailed you again on 5th July & 5th August with our regular monthly updates to keep all members on track. I have your reply from you 6th July. I would also note that your book was only available on Smashwords, which limits sales. We don't use #tags for all authors as we are aware of the danger of dominating a #tag stream if too many of our authors use #thriller for instance. Where an author requests it we include it. I would like you to accept a full refund, please, We do our best for all authors. I have been promoting authors on social media online for 5 years. We are not perfect, but we do our best for all our authors. This is not a short term program. It's 12 months of advice and free extras. Our promotion work now ends up free. Not a bad deal, I hope. Best wishes for all you do.

The advertisement made me believe that great things could be achieved via this form of advertising = this did not turn out to be the case. I took the gamble and it was a bad call. I cannot recommend this to anyone.

It's not that BooksGoSocial didn't try, but I doubt that they were actually able to do anything for my book (a nonfiction book). They have a lot of followers but I suspect they are all authors wanting promotion for their books and not readers who want to buy books. I rewrote my book description following the BooksGoSocial's instructions. I tried to get people to review my book, but was shot down by BooksGoSocial when I did what his post had asked authors to do. I tried some of the other free things that they offer/suggest. My book was increasing in sales before I used BooksGoSocial (10 paperback sales the first month and 20 the second - the BooksGoSocial promotion came after the 20 sales of the second month) and now it is not selling (I had 2 sales the third month and none so far this month). (I should say that my Kindle sales have stayed the same at about 10 a month). My book's paperback rating on Amazon has nosedived into the netherworld. Lessons have been learned and I am moving on.

I felt something was not quite right when nearly 30% of the so called 'hits' on the site came from Slovakia and Serbia. This made me suspect a call centre in those two countries was simply artificially boosting the 'hits'. This made me suspicious of all the 1900 hits to the site. How many were in fact genuine and how many were being artificially manufactured to fulfill a so called guarantee. In the end I felt as though I had been the victim of some sort of scam and was profoundly disappointed.

I noticed that other writers had reviews of their book and I never saw one for either A Woman Undefeated or Shattered Dreams. When I tried to post something of mine on the site, it never got past the moderator. I didn't see any increase in my sales. In contrast, I have just finished a Boost Post with Facebook and my sales have rocketed. Financially, I didn't suffer because I got my money back.

I feel bad leaving only 2 stars but unfortunately BooksGoSocial didn't help sell my book. And that was the reason I'd used it in the first place. But everyone I was in contact with was very nice.

I hired BooksGoSocial because I do not like to self promote. I would be happy to pay for promotion if it were effective. Unfortunately, the promotional campaign BGS did for me which consisted of my book's mention (I Came by Cab) on their site as well as a twitter campaign had zero effect. I do not believe I sold a single book during it's run. I still think my book is good. My reviews are all 5-star. Unfortunately after its first year, the book has done nothing. I have no complaints about BGS's service in the sense that the company quickly replied to my emails and answered my questions. It was all very professional but, sadly, it did not work.

I bought a month and stopped all other marketing efforts in order to see the result. There was no result. My sales dropped to a flatline for the month. I have much better result from promoting on Facebook with a 5.00 ad on my author page and also the Facebook groups I have joined. I would not recommend your service.

I purchased the 49$ package that ran for 1 week and today was the final day. Honestly, no one bought my book for the whole period. I am not even exaggerating. Literally, the number of people who bought the book was zero.

A few days ago, I paid $29 dollars for a special promotion for my book, and now I have no idea how to make use of this. I thought they were supposed to contact me about starting the promotion, but nothing. Is this whole business a scam, I wonder?

the targeting audience is skewed : its no different than an individual spamming the heck out of Twitter to all possible accounts & accounts thereof hoping that one may look at it then read the link and buy - doubtful. Twitter goes by so fast that no one can see what goes on unless its accompanied by an image that grabs the viewer. with all the XXX rated porn on Twitter a book cover image isn't going to grab anyone & most users of Twitter are kids who can't or won't read. The Kanye West- Miley Cyrus-Justin Beiber brigade. Yes it does generate some clicks on your link (some clicks) but clicks do not equal purchases. with my own promotion on Facebook I can get 100's of clicks which result in about 10-15 % in actual purchases. I bought the premium package - since returned for a refund - @ over $400 its way over the top for no return what so ever. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Craig, We don't guarantee sales. Please remember that it's the public who decide what they like. We do guarantee to give people their money back, which is what we did. We also provided you with a book trailer and advice. You may not value what we did, and I am disappointed we couldn't do better for you, but after all our work you did get your money back. In full. We kept our word. Name me another advertising service which gives money back to people who advertise and aren't happy when people don't buy what they are selling. Laurence O'Bryan BooksGoSocial.com

Hi, Sorry for the rating. I guess if I had to say why - it would be because I had no idea where my money went. (for promotion) I did see some tweets the first couple weeks my book went out, but beyond that I am unsure of what your service did to promote my book. Thanks for asking.

Marilyn, I am very sorry you were disappointed. We do have extra promotions, which you haven't accessed yet. They are emailed to you every month on the 5th. We need to get your response to that email each month before we can do anything else for you. Did you get our email on the 5th, last week? That may be the problem. I can send it again if you email me: lob@yourasms.com Laurence O'Bryan BooksGoSocial.com

I purchased a basic deal that consisted of BooksGoSocial sending out Twitter announcements from the day my Kindle edition was published. I liked the wording, the volume of tweets seemed high enough and well spaced, and I believe they prompted a spike in sales. Seeing this activity gave me confidence in this form of promotion and encouraged me to make use of Twitter in a more inventive and consistent way myself. I also found the ongoing advice from BooksGoSocial is realistic, friendly, nicely backed up by their Facebook initiatives, and inspiring overall. I've learned from the experience and, although I haven't seen massive sales yet, it gives me hope and new ideas for the future.
