Me and my husband purchased a policy with MetLife when we were in our early 20’s. Shortly after, the policy was somehow sold to BrightHouse Financial. My husband passed away 3 months ago and I can’t even get anyone from the claims department to tell me what documents they need to review our claim. BrightHouse keeps sending me notices requesting paperwork but they don’t say what paperwork. When I follow up no one from the claims department ever calls me back. These people are an absolute nightmare to deal with. Please don’t put the burden of having to deal with these people on your loved one.

If I could give them a 0 rating, I would. I am attempting to collect on an annuity contract for my daughter and we have been put through so much BS while dealing with these people. We have sent over court documents, filled out their paperwork multiple times and we STILL can't even get the littlest bit of information. If my father knew how terrible this company was, I would like to believe he never would have used them. The only reason they can still be in business is because they are holding up everyone's money and have some sort of financial gain from it. If you have other choices, use them. If you have a family member who has them, switch. I've moved over five other accounts in the amount of time I've been dealing with these people and their account reps don't have the first clue about what they're doing and are therefore incompetent and unhelpful.

After finding out my mom had a long term care policy from this company after she passed away, i have been dealing with them for 9 months and given them all the information required for reimbursement for her assisted living expenses and they continue to deny the claim and after reading these reviews this seems to me like a total scam as they said she had $69,000 in term care and all we are trying to get reimbursed is about $30,000 which we fulfilled the requirement's they requested but still continued to deny the claim so do not do business with this company.

I do not understand how this company survives!!!! They are soo extremely poor in customer service!!! I will never again allow even one dollar of my money to be handled by this outrageous company... Now my challenge will be to close out what they are holding. Poor example of a financial investment company!!!! Their employees are bottom of the barrel to say the very least, especially the ones that get on the phone and tell you their "TITLE"!!! I'd fire all the big shots immediately....

They are a disaster. Gave all info to a computer as required - finally got a human and had to repeat it all. I have money there from a 401 K before my employer switched to another plan. It is only possible to get someone in customer service - no agents - they can't answer ANY questions - I asked about annuity payouts if I rolled current 401K amounts into this account. Customer service "can't answer hypotheticals." I asked for an agent. Was put on hold for 10 minutes as she checked to see if my account "had an agent assigned." Then she came back to tell me they didn't have agents. Will pull the money out of there as soon as possible.

This is the worst company to deal with and I would not recommend to anyone. Unfortunately when I enrolled in life insurance with my mom it was with a different company and was switched to them. They are VERY unhelpful and have terrible customer service.

It’s been horrible dealing with this company. After Covid we got a bill stating if we wanted to keep our policy we had to pay 1300 dollars. We had been paying 80 dollars a month for years so I called and had a huge run around and got no answers. So I sent them a letter canceling the policy which was followed by more letters from them letting us know how to pay them. The last letter informed us that we owed them 22thousand dollars. What!!! I think that everyone one this sight should call there state’s insurance commissioner and get the number for the state where Bright House works out of and put in a complaint. Even better start a class action suit against them. I will be contacting my lawyer tomorrow.

I had not deposited my checks for a while because the bank is far and I am disabled. I asked a woman named Milred how much is my balance and SHE SPOKE OVER ME FOR 10 MINUTES , when I finally said 'Please ! I just want to know my balance!' She finally gave it to me and I asked her name and she lied and said her name was Red. , she said R.E.D, But would not tell me until I said...Really? Your name is Red?? Then she pretended to not hear me when I could hear her there perfectly. She stayed silent for some time and I kept asking if she was there and she finally said yes. Honestly she should not be working with people! It wasn't until the very end that she admitted that her name was Mildred. She is working for a financial institution and she lies???!!! SCARY.

I would give them ZERO stars if that was an option. I have been trying to access my fund for over year. This company was sold to Met Life. I have been circling back and forth between the two companies. It's been a nightmare. Hours wasted calling, emailing, sending letters. They have been holding tens of thousand of dollars of my money that I cannot get to. They should be investigated.

My elderly mother had paid into a Brighthouse long term care policy since 1995. 3 months ago,our family decided mom needed some home healthcare. We started the process-paperwork and more paperwork to file. We had a video functional assessment, it was completely impersonal and very demeaning to the individual having the assessment. Not surprisingly, they said mom was not eligible. We started a review of the claim, spoke with many people, sent reams of faxes and emails. The last 3 weeks of moms life she was immobile. She was under hospice care for 3 days and then passed away. The service was terrible and by delaying so long they did not have to pay a claim. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY

Like so many others who have posted before me, I have had to contact BrightHouse regarding an annuity (originally purchased from Met Life). It's next to impossible to get an answer on the most simple questions. I can't comprehend how a financial institution can operate with such poor regard for their customers. Horrible!

First of all be aware that the listed customer service number is located in the Philippines. I called to confirm a fax to request a withdrawal and was given an incorrect one . One thing after another and after 2 weeks still no check. Not a rich person but what money I do have I want.

My IRA Annuity was invested by my Bank to Brighthouse Financial, Inc., 11225 North Community House Road, Charlotte, NC. 28277. On December 19, 2022 (Monday) I completed paperwork to withdraw then rollover the remaining amount into a new IRA Investment Annuity. The withdrawal form that I completed, specifically stated that the withdrawal was to be Direct Deposited into my Bank Checking Account. Today is December 28, 2022 (Friday) as of today I do not have my funds.. On 12.23.22 I made a decision to directly contact Brighthouse Financial, Inc. Directly. Called 1.888.243.1932 I was informed by Robin H. of the Escalation Team that a Check was Mailed out on December 22, 2022 from their Nashville, Tennessee office. Robin then informed me that my Bank Information has to be on file for 30 Days before withdrawal request. Absolutely nowhere on the 6 Year Annuity Withdrawal Form, did it state such extremely important information. Then, on 12.27.22 called them back again & talked to someone named Carol, she informed me again than the check was mailed on December 22, 2022 from their Nashville, Tennessee office. I then asked for the check number. She then informed me that my bank information needed to be on file for several weeks, which is why a check was sent. Feel that something unethical is going on, two different stories from 2 different Brighthouse employees. I personally feel that Brighthouse Financial, Inc. is guilty of Gross Negligence in regard to this issue. Additionally, I feel that their actions deserve serious business consequences, as I firmly believe that their actions are extremely dishonest. My advice, beware of Brighthouse, invest somewhere with ethics, where clients are treated ethically.

I had to bend over backwards- frontwards and then back again to get my money and close my account. Their information is not kept up to date. And when I finally faxed all my requested forms, I had to call them again to find out, they were still holding the funds because they needed an updated signature. If I had to do it all over again, I would stay far way!

Brighthouse is running a scam. Cashed in my contract. They were short a month interest and charged me an early withdrawal fee, after telling me for several months what the maturity date was. (It was actually 3 years in the future) Correspondence from them is no more than a one liner not related to my questions. This is a purposeful act to allow Brighthouse to collect unjustified early withdrawal fees. Phone calls are useless, after waiting and transferring to several people with an IQ of less than 13, I received no help. STAY AWAY FROM BRIGHTHOUSE.

I was very displeased at the service that I received while trying to close an estate that I am/was the executrix. They made it very difficult to communicate with someone that could assist in this delicate matter. The person that I spoke with told me that he "was the boss" and that he "had no supervisor". After many years of doing business with them, it was very unfortunate that they did not retain my family or my business.
