I’m very disappointed. I filled out a termination of an annuity 6 days ago and still have not heard back from them. It’s stuck in review, and I was told that I would get a letter if it needed to be corrected. Not email, but snail mail. Meanwhile the market has moved 1,000 points during this period and it seems the only one with a sense of urgency is me. I had great difficulty getting by the Asian front, to talk to an American who spoke good English. I’ve presented another request and will start the fight again on Monday to see when I will get my money.

I have been struggling since February to liquidate my assets with Brighthouse and roll the funds over to my IRA. My financial advisor has filled out all paperwork and my spouse had to get their signature notarized. Now they are requesting a plan administrator’s signature and date for a company that is now dissolved. It is impossible to get Section 10 of their incredibly archaic form signed. It's my money. This should not be so difficult. Each time I (or my financial advisor) call for assistance, we get new stories about how to handle the situation. Just wrote a letter, recommended by customer service. This better work this time. HORRIBLE! They use a lot of stall tactics!

As a beneficiary, THIS WAS THE WORST EXPERIENCE A PERSON COULD GO THROUGH POST LOSING THEIR LOVED ONE! Brighthouse messed-up all of our (4) beneficiaries' 1099-R, not once, but twice! We each had to ask for tax extensions due to their blatant mess-ups...and each of us had to call individually to have Brighthouse fix THEIR MISTAKES that were brought to their attention with the first phone call by one of the four beneficiaries. Brighthouse should have wanted their tax records corrected as well and should have fixed all 4 with one call!!! Oh, and try to reach someone to resolve!!!! That's a whole other nightmare! Disconnects, excessively long hold times, misdirected calls, and language barriers!!!! HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!! Brighthouse....fix your customer service and educate your people on preparing 1099-Rs!!!!!! I will never recommend this group to anyone!!!! I wouldn't want them, or their survivors, to go through any similar nightmare!!! P.S. Be sure your 1099-rs are correct because Brighthoyse SIGNIFICANTLY, MASSIVELY over stated our taxable income in block 2a!!!!! Thank God our tax accountant found it...because none of us knew better!!!

It has taken me three months to get my auto payment transferred to another bank. They have lost two checks on me and it is still not done. I would never use this company again.

You cannot even access your policy online, only accessible by talking with someone via telephone. I asked if I could have a a copy of death claim form. In the event one passes away, you can have on on hand. You can't do that. I asked what was specific form number of form. Advised they could not share this info either. This company is not user friendly at all, and has horrible customer service. Would not recommend this company to anyone.

The customer service is TERRIBLE. They are unorganized and very, very rude. And everything happens by paper mail (!!) so if you have to resend a form, it takes them a week to send it to you, then another three weeks to process. Heaven forbid you leave the tiniest detail off the form - you will have to completely start the months-long process over from scratch. We are 16 years in to the 30 year life ins policy that we opened with Metlife, who then "passed" us (or sold?) the policies to this joke of a company. If you have to update anything or change y our address, expect to your policy to be in jeopardy, and for it to take months and months for any resolution.

As the executor of an estate and while grieving the death of my mother I have had the unfortunate pleasure of dealing with the unprofessional, rude and completely incompetent folks from Brighthouse. They have given me wrong forms, wrong addresses and lied to my face numerous times. I have been hung-up on, screamed at and treated like absolute garbage all while trying to settle the estate of someone who was a "customer" of their company. I cannot recommend them LESS

The process was smooth, and I finally felt a sense of closure after days of stress and uncertainty. This experience was a harsh wake-up call about the dangers of trusting online financial platforms. No matter how legitimate a company seems, it’s essential to conduct thorough research before making any investment. I now take extra precautions and encourage others to do the same. If something feels off, act quickly waiting too long can make all the difference in whether or not your funds are recoverable.”

I sought out their services, hoping for expert guidance and a solid investment strategy, but unfortunately, the reality didn’t match my expectations. In less than a month, I lost $21,500—a setback that was not only financially painful but also emotionally taxing. It’s easy to feel frustrated in situations like this, and in hindsight, I wish I’d spent more time researching and understanding the risks involved before jumping in. However, despite the setback, I’m thankful that I reached out to Mrs Olivia and her team. They offered immediate, professional assistance that helped me recover the funds I had lost. Their support was incredibly responsive and knowledgeable, and it gave me the confidence to move forward. OMG! I have never been so repeatedly frustrated by a company that puts up road blocks to accessing my benefits. Horrible and irrational reasons for not sending my money. I wish I could fire them!

My mother died the first week of February, my brother who is the executor of her estate started working with them on February 11th. We have now had to restart the process for a third time to get payment on her life insurance policy. This is so far, the worst company that we've worked with and the most difficult to reach anyone or talk to customer service about the problems that we are having. I recommend running the other way if you have someone trying to sell this to you. This is a terrible company and likely only solvent because they don't pay claims on a regular basis. Terrible, terrible, terrible. Do not do business with them!

I would strongly recommend anyone to avoid this company. It is the worst annuity company I have ever had to deal with. Over the last 20 years I have been a Trustee and Durable Power of Attorney for numerous people. Brighthouse Financial has been the most difficult and time consuming financial company I have experienced. Over 20 hours of my time has been spent trying to resolve simple issues such as account statement access, power of attorney, mailing addresses, and tax forms being correct. Brighthouse has repeatedly made the same errors and same unmet promises to correct their errors. The customer support agents are often difficult to understand. The systems to get help are cumbersome and deeply bureaucratic. Rather than give good and prompt feedback to help resolve issues the typical responses are "you will have to wait for the mail." Oftentimes the issues has been that I never received the mail or received the incorrect or wrong forms from their mailings. Their agents are resistant to provide a supervisor for assistance. They don't provide an opportunity to have email communication or follow-up on time sensitive matters. I have dealt with numerous financial companies and I readily admit most are straightforward when you have the proper forms and experience as a Trustee or POA. Unfortunately Brighthouse has been by far the worst company I have dealt with. Their errors and lack of good support has cost me and numerous people I represent unnecessary time and money.

Terrible service, I have sent in change of address notification 6 years in a row and they can’t seem to change it. I have been paying premium for 45 yrs and now they inform me the social security # doesn’t match. No online access, when will they jump into the 1990s????? Terrible Company

At one time I was able to access my life insurance account online... but when checking lately when I could not access, they simply said "YOU CAN'T". What??? How archaic a system do they have???? Wooden tablets?? Seems like they are trying to hide something.. and make access probably impossible for my family if and when I pass. If this continues, I'll report them to our State board....

Terrible company - sent me a letter with a big premium increase and stated “rest assured , your premium won’t go up again for another five years “ . One year later , received another premium increase of 12 percent (over $100 ). When I called to express concern and referenced the previous letter with the promise to not raise rates for five years - they said it was a typo ! They refused to let me talk to someone higher up . They make it very difficult to cancel the policy - highly bureaucratic!
