Brighthouse is not a good investment nor insurance company to do business with my Son Killando passed away in 2021 and ever since then I have been fighting with Brighthouse for his remaining Annuity. This shouldn't be and MetLife was wrong for selling his annuity to Brighthouse. I would not advise anyone to invest in Brighthouse. when you call you never get to talk to an American person, its always a foreigner that you can hardly understand what they are saying. Brighthouse financial full of crooked people. If you have any dealing with this company . you might want to change to another company, but they will tell you all kinds of lies to keep your what belongs to you. Signed Millicent C. Smith ( mother of deceased insured client)

They simply lie about everything. They raised their premiums far in excess of annual inflation rates during the accumulation period. Then after finally getting a claim approved in which they dragged their feet for 6 weeks, they don't pay on time and require 20 BUSINESS days after receipt of Assisted living bill AND receipt of facility completed assignment form in order to start to think about paying. I guess they're no different than all insurance companies which are sold to help you but in the end, are the lying devil in a suit. I would never do business with Brighthouse. Ever.

I had an annuity account that matured and wanted closed. It took 3 phone calls, 2 packets of paperwork to send. The reps i spoke with Alexandria, Brian and Janet were especially unhelpful and obutse. I don't understand why I couldn't have an email to contact the company if there was an issue with my account closure, which there was and delayed the account being closed. Horrible customer " service " . Do not recommend.

I moved funds from my fixed account into mutual funds. The funds did not reflect any increase when the market was high just showed losses. Brighthouse could not figure it out other then saying we are investigating. It appear to be a computer error, but was never corrected so I had to withdraw from the funds and take a loss.

My sister and I manage an elderly in-home care/nursing home policy for our mother. On paper, it's a good policy. It was originally written 25 years ago by MetLife, and this type of policy is no longer offered today. We pay the nursing home, and Brighthouse reimburses us. Currently, problems occur nearly every month due to Brighthouse not reimbursing us in a timely manner. They have a 20-business-day reimbursement window once they receive invoices from the nursing home. The nursing home CCs us when they send the invoices to Brighthouse, so we know when the 20-business-day window begins. If Brighthouse doesn't acknowledge, record, or worse, claim they don't have the invoices, the 20-business-day window can spill over into the following month. This creates a cash flow problem where we end up financing a large corporation. Not good. So, we call and ask what's going on, when we should expect reimbursement, etc. The third-party person on the phone, while nice enough, has no authority to rectify any problems. They repeat corporate policy and tell you they'll make a note of your complaint or suggestion. So, if you're researching insurance companies, I would suggest finding out any reimbursement time frames and whether you can actually speak directly to someone who works at the company, including their name and phone number. Good luck.

Horrific company. Worst customer service possible. Be prepared to be transferred and spend hours on the phone. Their AI phone system is terrible. Just paying the premium is almost impossible. You can't pay for term life online. Only accept postal mail. Ridiculous. Any human you may get to speak with is off shore. Run away! Get your life insurance anywhere else.

They use an offshore call center. No one there seems to know anything and can't resolve anything. You can never speak to the same person twice. Thet ask for a call back number and you are frequently cut off, but they don't call back.

Off to poor start. Brighthouse is claiming the certified death certificate submitted with the claim forms is a copy. First time I called I was put on hold for 25 minutes and then disconnected. 2nd time I called was told the certificate was a copy but would submit for further review and to callback in 2 days. No offer to provide service and have them call me. Let's see how this plays out.

This company is a scam. I have been trying for months to close out my account. And there is always a problem the paperwork. I fix that then they find something else. They have all of my paperwork every bit of it. At every phone call they would say please stay online for a review. I didn't want to do a negative review. But now I'm done. Pryor to writing this review I read the reviews on line. This is a terrible company.. would not recommend this company to anyone. Horrible Horrible Horrible company. Linda Smiley.

I've had my policy with BrightHouse since 2015. All of a sudden a payment "supposedly," wasn't received. Brenda told me to send a copy of the receipt. Dhe pretended to cate and really wanted to help me. Now she's saying that I have to pay double because they can't find the money order. I asked her why did she have me send the receipt if it didn't help. Her answer; so they, whoever they are can investigate. Then she tried to say February and June's payment hasn't been paid. I told her I mailed June's payment the first week if June and my payment isn't due until the 12th. Already they're saying I didn't pay June or February. I sent HER, BRENDA, a copy of my payment for February and March. I paid February the first week of February and March the 28th of February which was fue in the 12th. Why is all these money orders suddenly coming up missing? I've been paying this policy faithfully for 9 years to just have them cancel my policy because they "supposedly" didn't receive the money order which I have receipts for. She want me to pay double payments but I sent her the receipt. I'm not going to sit here and not try to recover money I've paid. She totally changed from Friday when I talked to her. They are looking more and more like scammers and if people don't pull together and make these things known to the right people then they'll get away with taking 1,000's of dollars from innocent people. Me for one is going to do everything I can to expose them for who they are. I'm 65 years old and thought I had a valid policy only to get swindled out of it.

It is a down right sin how this company treats elderly people that have diligently paid premiums for decades. They constantly harass them with saying they need to be "re assesed" in order to keep their claims in a constant state of review to avoid paying premiums for weeks at a time. They are never caught up on payments and use phoney excuses and keep them in a state of fear all the time. They take advantage of people who are weak and sick and force them to spend hours and hours trying to get their entitled claims even after several Dr's and care facilities have approved them over and over again to need advanced care. If you are reading this do NOT under any circumstances subject yourself or your family members to this deplorable company.

they do not pay you in 21 business days Long term care . Been waiting 2 months to be paid for caregivers after sending corrections for one number they claim couldn't read . Many weeks gone by and still not paid. Spend more time on communicating with Brighthouse and resending info than any other business I have ever dealt with in past. Need to be with my husband and dementia 24/7 and they eat up my time.

I Needed 1 million dollars of term. I went with Brighthouse and was done with the process in under 40 total minutes. I only had to do a phone case and received instant approval. Was a surprisingly simple process. Would highly recommend!

Brighthouse is one of the worse Companies I have worked with. It's sad to think they are handling customers money when they cannot do simple things as change an address. I have contacted them at least 5 times and the address is still not changed. Very poor customer service!

The "customer service" people seem deliberately obtuse. No one understands anything; everyone wants to transfer your call to another know-nothing employee. In terms of customer service, Brighthouse gets my vote as the worst financial company on the planet. No other firm comes close.

You can't see what policy you get till you sign up. Even if you don't give them all their necessary paperwork, nor any consent to autopay, they will still bill you autopay. Also look at your policy once you do finally get it. It's not a lump sum payment like they said. Ours gave over half our life insurance payout as "medical expenses"... If you already have medical insurance this is useless and you're wasting money. I've never heard of any sort of insurance company doing this, but apparently they do. Don't sign up. They suck.

I needed to update my beneficiaries for term life insurance and was able to find the form right on the company's website. I received a letter the next week with the confirmation. Never had to pick up the phone.

I submitted my beneficiary claim in early March. To date, I have not received anything. I call every week only to be told my paperwork is in good order but there is a technical problem and can't pay me. I've filed a complaint with the dept of ins.
