we bought a sofa from dfs and upgraded the cushions from fibre to foam for an additional fee of around £180, upon arrival the foam cushions seemed very week and were in no way easy maintenance as described in the add, the seat was also 10cm lower than the add said. after contacting dfs and having 2 separate people round to inspect the sofa, both of witch said it wasn't upto standard and they wouldn't be happy with it themselves then went and wrote a review and said none of this to the store managers. after many very long winded and stressful conversations with the store manager grant of the preston branch, we decided to pay an additional £490 to get a better sofa that was recommended to us only to have it turn up at our house faulty, the delivery drivers spent well over half an hour trying to connect the sofa together to no avail telling us themselves it was faulty and they couldn't do the job they were hear to do. We decided to reject the sofa on this basis due to the ongoing problems we are having with them and today received a call of another preston manager gemma telling us that they are only willing to refund us £390 of the £490 we payed and that in no way do they consider a sofa that will not link together faulty. Myself and my wife are now in the process of talking to citizens advice and potentially taking dfs to court to get our money back Please i cant stress enough how hard this has been on our whole family and how many sleepless nights we have had and would strongly advise people read the reviews before buying a sofa from dfs. We will never be doing it again and i hope you don't!!!!! I have attached pictures of the poor quality of the sofa and also a conversation had with an online expert about weather or not changing the cushions would affect the height of the seat and as you can see for yourselves i was told it would not change. after this conversation i was told that if i asked someone they would of told me the seat height would change and that it was my fault for upgrading the cushion!!!!

Poor quality sofa, absolutely disgraceful looks 10 years old and like a child has made it. Someone has been to inspect today and is trying to pass off as acceptable. Marks and defects in the fabric. Looks dirty. Apparently it is up to the manager at he the Bolton store to decide it’s fate. Going to trading standards. This sofa was £1300 😡 I have included the website picture of what it is supposed to look like. Absolute false advertising

Same problems, with sagging seats, would it not be possible for everyone to get together and rake out joint legal action as a group against dfs

I purchased a sofa from dfs it was delivered on Monday 26th April the delivery men called me for directions I was told due to COVID I had to wait in the other room while they installed it which I did they came in threw all the pieces on the floor & basically threw it together then just said there you go mate & left. I went into the lounge to see sofa in the middle of the room I struggled to move it as I have terminal lung disease I then tested it but it didn’t work I immediately called delivery men but they didn’t answer I looked outside the lorry was still there so I struggled to walk out there I can’t breath & it’s very hard to walk any distance I got to the back of the lorry I saw them look at me in wing mirrors & they drove off. I went back in & called dfs sat on hold only to be put through to someone miles away who couldn’t do anything I said I want to reject it but they said I wasn’t allowed & had to have a engineer come to fix it I said I wasn’t happy with this could I speak to someone higher they said they’d get a store manager to call me in the mean time they booked in a engineer for 3 weeks time I said I was unhappy with this but didn’t seem to care just that’s how it is. Days past no call back numerous calls later Caleb Johnson ( manager of slough dfs ) even though I bought from reading he said same I could not reject the sofa & by law I had to let them try to fix it I said I wasn’t happy & 3 weeks was awful to make a disabled person to wait no interest again so the day of the appointment came just before the engineer was due I got a text saying he wasn’t coming no rearrangement so I had to call yet again over a hour on hold I get though to someone in Scotland who couldn’t do anything but rearrange the appointment I said no I wanted it returned but no I then spent the next 6 weeks calling & emailing with no conclusions they agreed to replace it but wouldn’t give a time frame I knew it was just a ploy to wait the 3 weeks for engineer to turn up which he did was here 5mins & said it’s not repairable & that dfs furniture is just cheap rubbish good coming from their representative. I’ve spent well over 10hrs on hold making numerous calls always getting through to someone different from all over the country the trouble is I call reading if they don’t answer in a few rings it’s diverted to whoever is available so you get anyone from anywhere & when you ask to speak to the person your dealing with they can’t & none of them can do anything apart from get call back which rarely happens I eventually spoke to Julia from reading who agreed to swap like for like with a different sofa I asked her to send me a email confirming that but she didn’t I emailed her several times with no acknowledgement it seems they don’t like putting anything in writing I have email Tim Stacey CEO 3-4 times with no reply or acknowledgment he’s received it. I’ve had several calls confirming the new sofa was ordered but would be another 11 weeks I said I was fuming but at least it’s getting sorted last night they called 2 weeks after saying it was ordered to say I had to pay another £300 so they could order it I said absolutely not we agreed like for like but they said no so I said to come collect it I’ve now emailed saying I give them 7 days to collect it & give me a fully refund but I don’t hold my breath to it happening I’m not sure of my legal rights & when they take it I will have nothing to sit on which is a huge issue due to my poor health I don’t have room to store it. Yours mr Adam howlett

When you buy in the store they cannot be more helpful but when you have a problem they don't want to know - had our suite for 4 weeks already worn - someone came round and they had no intention of changing it - they are the worst company I have dealt with they are artificial liars - they have no care at all - do not buy from them you will regret it - be warned.

I wish I had read these reviews before ordering! I placed my order for a DFS sofa on 20 April and was given a delivery date of first week in June. I have tracked the order online today and it seems the delivery date has been pushed back by 3 weeks - no reference to me the customer. At the time of ordering I was unable to see a fabric swatch, the salesman assured me however, that he would arrange for one to be sent to me - but he clearly didn't because 6/7 weeks on it has still not arrived! What little confidence I had, is diminishing and I am contemplating cancelling my order after speaking with my partner.

We bought a lazy boy sofa and after only 2 years it went to the dump, after reading all the problems people have been having with dfs sofers services I just couldn't be stressed out with all there nonsense. The worst part of all this is we are now paying for a sofa that is in the dump. These cheap sofas are built to a price and are not sale products at all, that's to say they build sofers to sell cheap, it's a nonsense that should be stopped, I have since bought a new sofa from Sofa Sofa and it's really good at reasonable price. Just don't take the risk of buying a sofa from Dfs, be worned!!

Bought our sofa approximately 8 months ago. Paid extra to upgrade cushion filling and even with turning them they are left with a dip as though a hippo had sat on it. We have bought from DFS for 30yrs bit will no longer after this Maybe they have changed suppliers for the filling to save money, if they have, it hasn't worked! Someone came out to look which was a waste of time as we got a phone message the next day saying basically they do soften with use as it states on the paperwork, but not to that extent & that quickly Every phone number we tried no one answers & it would have been nice to maybe have the money refunded which we paid out for the "superior" filling but i won't hold my breath!

I purchased my 3 seater and 2 seater set from DFS Eastbourne in Feb '18. To look at, they are lovely sofa's, they cost sooooo much money and I genuinely thought I was buying quality when I sat on them in the showroom. We paid extra for the upgraded seat filling, and after 16 months, the seat pads are absolutely flat, and the sofa is incredibly uncomfortable. The sofa has an easy life, only sat on for around 3 hrs a day. Kills my back to sit on it, so I sit on a bean bag most nights. I would most definitely never buy from DFS again. The quality is just NOT there for the price you pay

DFS lie to customers, sell furniture that is not fit for purpose and now fill Trustpilot with fake reviews (all praising a named staff member).

A scumbag, scamming operation. Impossible to get through to anyone, but I made some inroads that may help others. If you call 01229 828 568, you will (eventually, keep ringing) get through to the DFS supplier. Tell them you're calling from the DFS store you bought the sofa from (pretend you are an employee there chasing a customer's order). They will ask for you 'acknowledgement number' but just say it's not showing up and give them your Order Number. Then, they will be able to tell you exactly where your sofa is and when it will be loaded onto the shipment. No one else in DFS will give you this info. Hope that helps. DFS won't like that this info is out there, but then they should have behaved themselves. NB: DFS PR automatically responds with bull*** when anyone posts a negative review, so do ignore that. Just more of their soft soap rubbish. I ordered this sofa in mid August! FYI: If that doesn't work, Tim Stacey the CEO's contact details are: 01302 573200 tim.stacey AT dfs.co.uk And if you wanted to leave a message on his Linkedin: /tim-stacey-478643a3/

I wish I had read these reviews before I bought a leather recliner from DFS , long delivery time and then 4 weeks late, not responding to correspondence, vague answers. I’m calling them DFS , approximate, estimate as everything is designed to give them a get out for poor service. Delivery in unmarked van , they took protective packaging off before delivery in the house, could have easily been damaged carrying through doors and I paid £69 for that . Spent £ 1000 on the recliner chair could have thrown in the delivery I will buy from them and hope that the chair is of a much better quality than their customer service. I won’t mess about with them if it isn’t and will head to the courts if necessary to get my money back

Poor Service and Poor Quality. Later after the Story I will tell you how to deal with DFS' B.S. DFS state they have been making Sofas for 50 years. You think they would have learnt how to make them by now. Story Bought sofa over the phone in January 2018. I was informed it would take 8 weeks and we should check the online tracking tool. 8 weeks gone and tracking tool states we will be receiving our Sofa. Gone past delivery date. Phoned them to find out it will be another 4 weeks and the online tracking isn't accurate. Sofa turned up edges squashed and marks on the armrest. Told the marks will go away in 4-8 weeks. Guess what marks still there. Manager will come out checked it and said he will come back. Another couple of weeks go past he comes out with hair dryer and iron. Couldn't get rid of the marks. States he will replace the part. Few weeks later comes in with a second hand part which is worst then the one on the sofa. Had enough told him him to take it away and provide a refund. Rang head office and all you get is passed around to the manager in store to collection department. Manager is only available on 2 days of the week. Going back and forth and they state can reinstate a fancy word for exchange. In addition we don't use the sofa and it is already sagging and leather looking older than my old sofa. A full year approaching and I am now taking them to court because they are the most pathetic company I have ever dealt with. How to deal with DFS if you unfortunate enough to buy a sofa from them than follow these rules 1) upon deliver inspect the sofa. Any marks, scuffs sagging. Reject it immediately at the door. Do not let it in your house. Otherwise this is where the problem starts 2) Purchase using a Credit Card so if anything happens you can raise a dispute with your credit card company 3) If your sofa sags and sinks. Report it to them. Law states that products should last a reasonable amount of time. DFS are enough to give you Mental health problems.

Shocking avoid like the plaque unless like me you pay £2000 for a suite the arms go flat within 6 months and then you get someone out from Dfs to look at it to get told you haven’t looked afterwards it properly as you haven’t battered it into shape every night bearing in mind they are fixed arms, unless you have money to waste go elsewhere, I am now in the process of looking for a new sofa as this one looks about 10 years old and it is actually only 6 months old. DISGUSTING

Please stay away from this company . Was given a delivery date, but obviously no sofa delivered. After ringing to inquire I was told that they going to reschedule delivery. Now I have asked for my money back . Friends did warn me not to deal with DFS. I'll give my Money to a small business. Total disrespect.

DFS are hiding behind the terms and conditions. They say that, upto 20% will be charged for collecting furniture (L shaped sofa). This is hidden well and truly within the terms and conditions. The couch is, in my opinion, faulty, very soft cushions to sit on and the arms can be felt through the fibre on the couch ends. DFS say, we will get an engineer out to look at this to decide if it's faulty, but we all know that this is always one sided and would not go any further. So, you would end up having to pay the 20% anyway. Disgraceful company, with bad ways of doing business, getting money out of people by being obstinate, stubborn and helpful with returns. I would have bought a different couch with them, but no way would I not only recommend DFS, but would never give them my business.

What a scam ! Went in 3 weeks ago to buy 2 sofas. A Lockton at £679 and a Vinson at £1479. Asked for discount but refused and told to come back in 3 weeks when sale on. So back in there today. Lockton has doubled in price to £1400. The Vinson has £120 off. So now 2 sofas will now actually cost £600 more than if I had purchased 3 weeks ago ! Good sale that is.....NOT. DFS are basically crooks (in my humble opinion) if they think that is good sale ethics by doubling the price of a sofa that 3 weeks earlier WAS NOT IN A SALE, BUT NOW IS. Crazy

Spoke to head office and several managers who advised they would call me back again on the 19th april 2021 and again no one has bothered to prioritise this case and resolve it. Below is the summary of the poor customer service and shocking communication. I placed an order with DFS on the 14th Feb and was advised the items would be delivered in April. I ended up placing the order with DFS over their other competitors only because of the delivery timescales, DFS were the quickest at the time and suited me better. The order was done on finance and everything had been approved and accepted. I called several times in Feb, March and April to check the order status of the order and was advised everything was running on time and there were no delays as I booked a date to get rid of my old sofas. I called earlier on in the week weds 14th April, and requested for a manager to call me as I still had not heard from anyone regarding my delivery and the advisors who I were speaking to did not have much information on what was going on. 72 hours elapsed and a manager still did not call me, I called again and spoke to a Danny who then advised he knew what the issue was. He went onto explain the order had not gone into production as they did not receive full details from the finance company, this was shocking and angered me. Danny tried to push the blame on the finance company however I don't accept that my order is is with DFS and when I have called to check on the order several times this issue should have been picked up by the advisors. DFS have just wasted my time, affected my credit score and left me without any sofas. I will never recommend DFS to anyone and the customer service has been poor especially when a manager cannot call back within the 72 hour period specified by yourselves. I'm now waiting for someone to call me on the 19th april to discuss a way forward however I should never have ordered from DFS and should have placed my order with SCS. Danny advised he had spoken to a Rachel from head office however could not promise for her or a manager to call back over the weekend, it would most likely be Monday. Why this has not been made a priority baffles me clearly DFS do not care about the customers and do not care about losing custom. I have spoken to DFS head office and again have been waiting for a manager call back yet no one has called me.
