“I initially went to the new EOS fitness in Port St. Lucie Fla on a 7 day pass. During my first visit, the salesperson whom i dealt with was extremely aggresive and tried to force me to join that day. That should have been a clue for me to proceed with caution but i continued to go because everyone in town was talking about how great the gym is. After my 7 days expired. i continued to go and i did enjoy the facility so i decided to join. During the sign up session, i was told that it was not a contact, but rather a month to month agreement and i can cancel anytime. They were running a special so the first month i was only charged one dollar plus taxes. The following month, to my utter surprise, EOS debited 77 dollars from my account. I signed up for a 9.99/month gym membership. I quickly contacted Bryan the clubs manager to demand an explanation and he told me that i was charged the monthly fee plus a yearly membership fee. I said what yearly membership fee??? i have been with this club al little over a month plus its a month to month agreement and not a contract. He said to me: You agreed to that yearly membership fee and as such it will not be refunded I tried to reason with him to no avail. At that point i said to him i will cancel that membership because this is an illegal practice. He did not seem disturbed and coldly replied i will help you cancel. At that point, i hung up and contacted my bank to dispute that fee. A few days later, my bank closed out the dispute because EOS informed them that there is no right of reversal with my agreement. Thats when i filed my complaint with the BBB. EOS did not earn a yearly membership fee with me. I was with them with less than 2 months when they charged me that fee, plus they assured me that i can cancel my membership anytime which i effectively did after they charged me that fee. If the BBB cannot get me my money back, i will file a small claims action against EOS. I did lodge a formal complaint with the BBB and they will investigate EOS because this is an unethical and shady business practice. Anyone thinking of joining this gym should proceed with caution because there are better options outthere”
“The EOS on 83rd Ave and Camelback in Glendale, AZ is a nice gym. Always clean and the staff are friendly and helpful. I was leaving today and asked NANCI why didn’t she have a chair. I wondered if she had to stand her entire shift. She said they were not allowed to sit at the front, it would appear unprofessional. I disagree with that statement. If the staff are in front of a computer and have a phone present, it would be no different than a receptionist. Maybe someone could look into this? I feel if they had chairs at the front, the staff would still greet customers as they enter and leave. This is just a suggestion.”
“The gym is great, that being said their clothing policy sucks. There are no exchanges or refunds, they say it's on their website but if you are at the gym and purchase something over the counter there is no signage or anything posted telling you that. I find it very disappointing and unethical.”
“Not happy , walked in today first 3 paper towels dispenser empty , no tv working on station bikes for quite awhile , started with 2 machines due to 2 power plugs , when suggested to install a power strip as work around next day or 2 no power to any bikes . Staff claims don't know what is going on . I don't think staff has any fault except to plead ignorance . Management has the responsibility to keep gyms 100 percent operational. Back of gym for the most of time looks like dump site .”
