I am very pleased with my new garden and I have received many pleasing comments about it from friends and neighbours. The garden immediately looked very mature although it had only just been planted. It is successfully fulfilling the brief I gave to Helen which was to provide all year around colour; as soon as one plant finishes flowering another one bursts into bloom. I am grateful to Paul and Helen for all their suggestions for the planting, lighting, the water feature and unobtrusive storage which have all combined to ensure that all of the garden is used (formerly a large shed cut off the back of the garden) and that garden looks great in the evening. I am no longer ashamed of my garden and now enjoy showing it off.

Floral and Hardy helped us out of our state of inertia over the garden, in a residential area - semi-detached they transformed 100 foot of confusion into 100 foot of harmony! It wasn't exactly a 'mess' but it was a little tired and in need of lots of renovation and we didn't know what to do first. Paul and Helen opened our eyes to what could be achieved and worked with us to generate a plan which suited our needs. The chaps who come to do the work are all hard workers and responsive to the clients needs and very happy to help in many ways. The garden is now splendid and is like being on holiday , the design is interesting and a joy to explore and walk around. Many thanks!

Floral & Hardy completely transformed my garden and have created an oasis of beauty & calm for myself and nature. The team where a pleasure to have on site and worked towards the beautiful design created by Helen who is an expert in her field. Paul and Helen are a great team and I would highly recommend them to anyone considering changing their present garden into something truly amazing. Stoneleigh Surrey M. Sheahan

F&H came up with a beautiful design for our small london garden which allows us to use the outdoors area all year round. The designer understood exactly what I wanted and it was certainly delivered with some excellent ideas. The plants are exactly what I was looking for and the Mediterranean tropical feel of the garden brings a smile to my face every day. The workers on the ground were polite, pleasant, and hardworking. The only downside was the lack of communication at times (hence the 4 star review rather than 5) and the requests for money before the last stage of the job was complete. The money requested was not a major issue but was certainly a bit awkward as there were some errors. On the communication front, it would go quiet from time to time and we would almost have to act as liaisons between the workmen, suppliers, deliveries on the ground and the designer. I also felt we could have been updated on progress now and again, especially since there were significant delays in the project due to supply issues, but it all worked out in the end. The supply issues meant on occasion workmen were sitting in our garden twiddling their thumbs and I sadly didn’t get to enjoy my garden for a good chunk of the summer. Due to some minor errors along the way, we had to make sure we were really on top of the snagging list (which is essential on any job), but they came back and covered everything on our list and sorted out any outstanding issues without any fuss. One other niggle is the built in bench with cushion storage we had installed - sadly it is not as practical as I had hoped. It’s too high to sit on comfortably and not a great space for cushion storage as they do get wet and dirty. Apart from that everything else in our garden has turned out much better than expected and I am enjoying my garden thanks to this September heatwave. Now let’s see if the bbq/outdoor kitchen withstands the winter and is as useable all year round as we had hoped. Overall, we are very pleased and I would recommend F&H.

Floral and Hardy garden project is now complete and we’re very excited by how it’s turned out. Some bumps along the way out of both our controls but this garden is worth the wait! The workers were very tidy and hard working. From the vision to the completion everything has been what we hoped for. Looking forward to spring so we can enjoy the garden and all the new flowers!

Writing this review from the comfort of our brand new garden which has now got everything we could have wished for. The guys on site worked incredibly hard day in day out, were very polite, always tidy, always cleaned up after themselves when heading home, very respectful of both our property and our neighbours too. The whole team were very flexible to accommodate changes and nothing was ever too much for them. Our designer, Kat, was incredibly laid back and again nothing was a stress or a bother for her, she was very accommodating for any design tweaks along the way and her advice and wisdom was fab. Waiting for a few finishing touches to be completed but absolutely confident they'll complete it to a high standard. The complete design and build aspect worked well for our busy working schedules. Can't wait to show it off to friends and family!

The team were careful to understand my requirements and particular likes / dislikes, to come up with a design that suited my requirements and the dynamics of the space available. I was given sound advice about the various materials available and the work was completed to a high standard, giving me a new “extra room” to enjoy through the seasons. Thank you!

5 months after I initially made contact with Floral & Hardy, I now have a roof terrace that is no longer a barren embarrassment! Complete with living walls, a water feature, a pergola and fruit trees, it's a delight - especially when lit up at night. My private magical sanctuary. Generally all interactions with the firm have been entirely positive, the only downsides were supplier shortages/delays which meant that my "ideal" selections weren't always available, and the process from start to finish seemed to take an inordinate length of time. But we got there in the end and I very much appreciated Paul's "can do" attitude and rapid response to emails, also Sam's commitment to late night WhatsApp-ing when decisions needed to be made. A big "thank you" to all involved, here's hoping I can maintain the look ... !

We have recently completed a completely new, child friendly garden through Floral & Hardy. We only have a small garden in Kingston Upon Thames and two very active children (2&8 years old). Sam, the designer, carefully considered our requirements and came up with a clever design to make the garden fun for the kids but also a great space for adults to relax - he really made the most of the small space. We now have a sunken trampoline that can be covered up (the kids haven't stopped playing on this), detachable swings and climbing holds on the garden wall. The garden can now be superbly lit, has flowers that softens the appearance, smart seating and fencing and fresh herbs for cooking. The quality of the work overall was excellent and evitable snags have been resolved. The work took longer than expected due external supplier issues and the comms could have been better but overall we're chuffed with our new garden!

Our Floral and Hardy garden is fantastic! Sam, our F+H garden designer, did a wonderful job of helping us to pinpoint and refine what we wanted in our new garden, sharing his knowledge and expertise. The end result is more gorgeous than I think we’d dreamed of- this really is testament to Sam’s design and the quality of work delivered by the whole F+H team. I also want you to share that the pricing was incredibly competitive, and great value for the end result delivered. The only negative, and the reason we gave a rating of 4/5 was, regrettably there were a few delays to the project timeline due to materials shortages.

The end product of the garden is wonderful. (Before and after pics below) built to the design, of which the design process with Sam was great and the design drawn was as envisaged by myself. However, the project itself and time taken to complete was a lot longer than expected and not enjoyable. The general project management was rarely there, I had to chase on multiple times where the builders where and what the next steps would be, random deliveries turning up with no one there to accept them etc etc. Overall 4 star as the 12 weeks to complete were stressful, however the end result is great and a garden I hope to enjoy for a number of years to come!

At short notice Floral and Hardy put together a garden design for my elderly aunt who was suffering with dementia. The process of preparing the garden under her watchful eye, gave her immense pleasure, and she was really pleased with the end result. The garden had been planned for easy wheelchair access too and it was great that she could get out to enjoy it again. Paul and his team worked hard to get the project finished as quickly as possible due to my aunts deteriorating health, whilst battling the English weather! Thank you for a job well done, and for giving her the garden back.

Paul, Daisy - please respond to the phone calls, emails, twitter messages to organise the follow up (Patio clean & decking refurb) as per our agreement in September "once we are in receipt title to all goods supplied pass to you and our guarantee comes into effect". Cheers Paul

They have taken our money , have not done any of the work and after chasing them for months have now put themselves into voluntary liquidation. Absolute crooks, now understand they have done the same on many occasions. Paul and Helen Ellison are not to be trusted at all.

The business went into liquidation mid-way through our garden redesign project leaving us with a destroyed garden and circa £25,000 out of pocket. Paul Ellison was uncommunicative and unapologetic throughout, providing zero project management. He finally sent an impersonal email without any apology whatsoever to announce the firm’s liquidation. I wish I had read more reviews of F&H before contracting with them. The original design was ok but pretty uninspiring (mainly just playing back to us what we had described). The firm were happy to take money off us not long before their voluntary liquidation for materials that they then never ordered when they were supposed to. Subsequently we realised that the owners appear to have a track record of liquidating companies and then reappearing with another company trading under a very similar name. I have been involved in many building and renovation projects over the years. Floral & Hardy were far and away the worst company I have ever engaged with. Avoid

I would strongly avoid this company. I never leave negative reviews but I have been pushed to breaking point. I would say that Paul is at best disingenuous- in his own words " a great salesman but the rest of the business is struggling to keep up". The project started late, missed every deadline , with poor communication through out other than when invoices where due - which we at times overstated. Through their poor quality building work they have destroyed the patio area of our garden which will cost thousands to repair. The seats they designed where unusable.and have had to be amended at significant cost. An existing awning has been left usable due to a design error. Plants have needed replacing and their lightening had to be repaired. I have been promised a partial refund (no where near the cost of putting these things right) - which I have now, nearly a month later, been told is delayed due to their accountant being on paternity leave. So different to the pitch. I leave this reviewing hoping to spare others from the same experience - truly dreadful.

Greatly regret using these guys and would not recommend. We contacted F&H to do a complete redesign of our garden and we had problems from the start. Design - the design process was ok, we stated our goals and budget. The design we got back looked good but was 50% over our stated budget. In hindsight the fact you have to pay thousands for the design is clearly leveraged at this point. I didn’t want to walk away from that investment, they rely on that fact, so regrettably we went ahead and agreed a budget 25% higher so we could move forward. Plan - once we agreed to move forward I noticed the plan didn’t align to our garden. The measurements were incorrect materially. I advised F&H of this but they said not to worry. Again another warning sign of their lack of attention to detail / quality Initial layout - once the site was cleared they laid out the design. Given the issues with their plan measurements the design was a mess. We had to highlight this. No proactive management on their behalf and no contrition. If we hadn’t of mentioned the issues I feel they would have proceeded with the incorrect layout. The designer seemed oblivious to their error nor seemed to care. Build - we agreed a build time of 3 months clearly stating we had a deadline to meet. They over ran by 3 months! It was clear within weeks they were behind but the communication process during the build was non existent. They had a an approach of ignoring the issues and hoping we would be happy with that. We had to proactively manage the build and point out issues / errors continually. Again no contrition or acceptance that they were overrunning or there were issues along the way. An apology would have been nice but was not forthcoming. Definitely felt towards the end things were rushed to get the job done. Reality of the design / delivery - now we have lived with the garden for over a year we can see multiple issues. We had 3 clear goals for the garden - the ability to entertain 8 people undercover easily so the kitchen / eating area was useable in all weathers. Whilst we absolutely signed off the plan we naively believed the designer knew what they were doing. The implementation does not give us this ability and layout is compromised. Our mistake was to trust the designer to meet our stated goals and should have been much more involved at the initial stage to ensure the design actually delivered what we needed - the ability to have inbuilt storage (for cushions etc) We have lots of storage BUT it leaks, has inches of water constantly in it making it unusable AND access is massively compromised - none of the cushions actually fit through the access points. As an aside this storage is part of a built in seating / fire pit area. This is virtually unusable as anyone under 6ft3 can’t reach the floor and sit comfortably. - a low maintenance garden with minimal weeding - not delivered (apparently this is our fault as the mood board showed what we’d be getting and from this we should have understood the paths would had weeds growing through…). Quality - from a distance the garden does look good but upon closer inspection we have steps break apart and paths drop so no longer level. The path issue is apparently due to the hot weather last year and not their fault. They promised to come fix the steps last year but have yet to actually return. Numerous plants have died (although to be fair after the 1 year ‘guarantee’.). Minor points - we had to supply extension cables for power as they didn’t have their own. These were then taken by the team at the end of the project and never returned. We had a lighting system installed (as it happens poorly with the majority of the cables visible) with two remote controls - one taken and never returned despite numerous emails requesting the fob be returned. We were offered cash to leave a positive review, we politely declined, at no point did they ask why we weren’t happy to leave a good review!! Think this shows their attitude towards customer service / satisfaction. I’m summary if you very closely manage the design / designer to ensure you actually get a garden design that meets your needs and very closely manage the build process and are happy with minimal customer service then these guys maybe right for you.

My wife and I deeply regret contracting Floral & Hardy for our garden landscaping. Our small garden project remains unfinished 1 year since work commenced. Aspects of the hard landscaping have been built to a low or unserviceable quality and areas of the soft landscaping were subsequently destroyed by the works team after planting. We have also not received various of the items specified in the contract of works nor communication about when these are to be expected. Communications with the business generally during the project have been patchy with many requests going and remaining unaddressed. This has further exacerbated problems with the on-site works team often appearing to operate unsupervised and without any quality control.

Disappointed overall. First with the aftercare service - nonexistent. Promised dead plants replaced if within the year. Some were dead within a month. I won’t hold my breath for the promised annual visit to check on the job one year on. Second - some things were not done as I’d requested and on the job when this was pointed out the design person dIsmissed this as an issue. Eg having lavender as a focus point was in memory of my mum. Instead it was a few planted in with other varieties and the impact lost. Also a climbing structure for the kids was made as a platform with a roof on it and a pretty useless steep ramp instead of an slide. I can’t answer some following questions as they’ve not returned calls or service
