I sent my family birthday recording in on a phillips tape to be digitized. I get back a tottaly useless digital format ****.CDA I can't copy this file and can not share with the grandkids. What a great frustration.

Ronald, you're right, and I'm sorry. A .CDA isn't really a file at all. It's just a pointer that Windows shows for tracks on an audio CD, so there's nothing there to copy or send to your grandkids. That should never have gone out as your deliverable. The good news is the audio itself is fine, and this is quick to fix. We can send you proper MP3 or WAV files you can email, copy, and keep. Please reach me at care@foreverstudios.com or 561.235.7808, reference order 243075, and I'll get it sorted personally. — Greg, General Manager

My first time to use a service for digitizing. I completed the online order for a combination of tapes, film and slides. I did not realize that everything I ordered could be accommodated on one USB Drive. So for every type of medium, I selected a USB Drive for the ordering process. I ended up paying for and receiving 4 USB drives that are duplicates. Going back to website at the bottom under "info" there is a category "how it works" -- this states no matter how large your order, it will fit on one USB drive. Would be helpful to have this more prominent. I also included years for each of the items I submitted and thought this would be added to the digitized product. I was wrong. The sticker I placed on each tape, film etc corresponded to the file name. I then had to go back and enter the year so I would know what was on the file. A lesson learned -- call and talk to a person to confirm everything. Overall, the results of digitizing were good.

This is useful criticism and I'd rather act on it than explain it away. If the ordering flow lets someone select a drive for each media type without making clear that one drive holds the whole order, that's a design problem on our end, and burying the answer under "how it works" doesn't fix it. Nobody should have to call to avoid being overcharged. The point about years is fair too. If you label your items with dates, that context should carry through to the file names instead of being lost. I'm glad the digitizing itself came out well. Please reach me at care@foreverstudios.com or 561.235.7808 about the extra drives and I'll take care of it. — Greg, General Manager

Joseph, that's a fair question and it deserves a real answer rather than reassurance. There are two possibilities. Either the enhancement wasn't applied to the file you received, which is our error and easy to correct, or it was applied and the difference on your particular footage was too small to notice, in which case we owed you that expectation up front. Both are on us, and I'd rather check your actual file than guess. Please reach me at care@foreverstudios.com or 561.235.7808 and I'll pull your order and compare the graded version against the raw scan myself. — Greg, General Manager

My VHS was done good but my betamax was not captured they couldn't do it

Abdulmalic, thank you for the honest note, and I'm sorry the Betamax didn't come through. Betamax decks are scarce now, and when a tape won't track cleanly on a working deck it's usually the binder or the shell rather than something we can force. What we owed you was a clear explanation at the time instead of leaving you to wonder. If you still have that tape, I'd like to take another look at it. Good work, professional and polite staff. Poor communications. Too much time between drop off and pick up. Once the money was paid, the feeling was 'now the money has been paid, the finished product will be completed whenever.' Poor communication

James, thank you for saying the work and the staff were good, and for being just as direct about what wasn't. Going quiet after someone has paid makes an already long wait feel twice as long, and there's no version of that I can defend. You should have been hearing from us at every stage instead of wondering. If anything is still unresolved, I'd like to hear it directly at care@foreverstudios.com or 561.235.7808. - Greg, General Manager

My re-do I know was a hard one. My dads was perfect. My mom's not so much hair was kinda to blonde and facial coloring not great alot of dark spots and her coat well a little to pink. But all in all I am ok with it. As I am the only one knowing the exact color. So I do give it a 3 star rating. And appreciate it.

Judy, I appreciate you being fair about a genuinely hard one. Color on a faded portrait is part restoration and part reconstruction, and when you're the only person alive who remembers your mother's exact shade, our best judgment is still a guess. We should have come back to you with the specifics before calling it finished. If you'd like another pass at hers, email care@foreverstudios.com and reference this review. - Greg, General Manager

I remember explaining when I placed the order that I was sending you an 8 mm film. When the 8 flash drives came they were audio only. Since I ordered video I wonder why I wasn’t told there was no video when you received it and before you processed it. Audio is not what was ordered. My mistake for not recognizing it was tape not film. Yet I think you should have seen my mistake and asked.

Ray, you're right that we should have caught it. When an order says 8mm film and an audio tape arrives instead, that is exactly the moment to stop and call the customer, not to process it and let eight flash drives deliver the news. Zachary reached out to you directly at the time and offered to transfer the actual film reels at no charge if you still had them. That offer stands. care@foreverstudios.com or 561.235.7808. - Greg, General Manager

The photo is beautiful however that is where my kudos ends. When I sent the photo in and paid $55 dollars I thought I was getting a retouched photo back, nope. You get your photo restored and then pay more money for prints. Okay fine, then I try to order prints and maybe I’m just old but their website is not user friendly at all. I could only figure out how to order 1 print at a time and no one is available on the weekends to help, ugh. I am not sure where all the 5 stars come from?? Next time I will just take my photo to a photo shop to avoid dealing with this.

Kristi, I'm glad the photo itself turned out beautiful, and I'm sorry everything after that was a fight. Restoration and printing are priced separately, but that needs to be obvious before you pay, not discovered afterward. Ordering one print at a time is a fair criticism too. If you'd still like prints from that restoration, email care@foreverstudios.com and I'll place the order for you myself. - Greg, General Manager

My first order of my mother came back with a black and white background but the original picture had a creamy brown background

Cynthia, that's a real miss and I'm sorry. A creamy brown background isn't a judgment call, it's what the original looked like, and matching the original is the whole job. Your first order should not have come back that way. If the corrected version never reached you, email care@foreverstudios.com or call 561.235.7808 and I'll get it fixed. - Greg, General Manager
