Bad service, wish I read the reviews before joining up. Was the cheapest option but now cancelled and happy to pay extra for better service. Recieved the same text/email threatening me that they will cancel my policy because I had a red week. The ratings were very inaccurate, I'd do the same drive and one day have Red mark another day have Green mark, both drives would be similar time & drove exactly the same. Phoned up to cancel the first time & was on hold for 30 minutes, told them I wanted to cancel was put on hold for another 10 minutes, by this time I'd given up as I had other things to be getting on with. I thought I'd drop them an email just to let them know I'd be cancelling but still haven't recieved a response. Phoned the next day was on hold for 30 minutes again, when I said my reasoning for cancelling was due to the threatening emails recieved she said this is the first time someone has complained about this & she'll look into it... most if not all the bad reviews mention the threat of Carrot cancelling the policy, so this shows they aren't bothered about how their customers feel. Would recommend anyone to read up about Carrot before joining.

Customer Service was dreadful, drained me of my money. Wouldn't recommend for young drivers. Very unimpressed.

This insurance company needs to be on watch dog or maybe crime watch, they are offering cheap prices only to con you out of more money later on down the line, sending emails threatening to cancel your policy and not having enough staff to answer the phone, taking advantage of young drivers, don't bother wasting your money, it's worth paying more for a better company, you get what you pay for, in this case your getting a lot of hassle

They do not reply to emails (awaiting a reply to 5 emails over past 3 weeks) asking to explain inconsistencies in scoring or how they arrive at their scoring.

Have to leave the app running in the background of your phone ALL THE TIME. Drains battery. If you go on holiday you need to let them know because of the app not working- ridiculous. If your phone dies because the running app has drained your battery, or decide to put it on aeroplane mode to save battery, you could risk them cancelling your insurance policy because the app 'needs' the app on. I went with Carrot because they were £300 cheaper but now I really wish I'd have just spent the extra money to not deal with this hassle. They need to sort out the black box so it doesn't have to be connected to your phone. The customer service is good on Live Chat I just really don't like how the insurance policy works.

Difficult to get through to on the phone - on hold for 40 - 60 minutes. Their response times to emails can take up to 6 to 10 weeks. The Better Driver mobile app does not work well, which has led to cancellation threats on my insurance, not being my fault.

Yes this company is cheap for insurance but terrible. They say you get free weekly gifts. I was apparently receiving a amazon giftcard by email (Never got it). Besides that i had to cancel my policy 14 days in and apparently i owe them money after paying £250! Dont insure with this conartist insurance.

Doesn't answer emails, on hold for 45 minutes per time only to be left with questions unanswered and no justifiable help. Been lied to resulting in me paying £650 from a 3 year old insurance policy. Do not use. Useless company.

If you want to sit on hold for 1hr every time you need to get in touch with customer service then this is the insurance company for you! If not I highly recommend you look elsewhere.

Terrible insurance company to deal with. Complete bunch of charlatans. Expecting my son to continue paying for an insurance policy he no longer has. Blatant daylight robbery. You should be ashamed if yourselves. NEW CUSTOMERS BEWARE ******

Have been trying to get hold of them for a month now via email and had no replies! The box doesn't work and isn't recording much journeys making it pointless! The only reason I signed up was because when you drive good you get high street vouchers but it's still not picking up my journeys! Have been with them for 3 months and they haven't been bothered to reply!!!

Customer service is disgusting. Can’t believe that it’s literally their job to be quick and efficient and answer within a reasonable time. But they can’t even do that. It’s as if there’s only 5 people working at once. When you do eventually get through on LiveChat, their responses are short and non informative, and then you’re just sat staring at your screen for the next 5 minutes waiting for them to reply. Really wish I didn’t choose my policy with them.

Customer service is appalling. Rang this company 23 times over the space of 13 days, I was on hold for 45 mins each time. I emailed 6 times and even tried live chat on the website. The only way to get through to this company is to write a tweet to them. I cannot believe you charge £150 for admin fees, especially after being insured with Carrot for the past 2 years. I had members of staff ignoring my emails and not listening to when the best time was to ring me (work). I will not be insuring with this company for a third year.

Trying to contact them is a massive ball ache, you miss one of their calls and ring the number they’ve provided, just for you to have to sit and go through all the options (them asking for a call back not being one) and even if you do make it to the end, then you’re just on hold for 40 minutes. Same with their Live Chat feature, takes just as long if not longer to connect to an Operative, and when you do they seem under equipped to actually do anything from their end because of security reasons, thus suggesting to ring them instead; it’s just one bit vicious circle. After having a Red Week in which all my scores were negative, i was determined to make amends and better my score as 2 consecutive Red Weeks leads to termination of your policy. But then there’s the problem of getting out of the Red Week. You drive too long and Usage goes down, you drive a distance that they say you can walk instead and Usage goes down. Usage was the main problem for me as my speed and smoothness were both green and adequate. Would definitely not recommend but I can’t leave as I will he charged 48% of my policy amount, which equates to just £1000. Absolutely ridiculous.

I would not recommend this insurance; they add me auto renew on my policy and charge me £ 35 although I was with them for 2 years and never made any claim; when I try to talk to the costumer team I had to made several phone calls and I was on hold for more than an hour. staff is rude and not helpful so imagine if you make any claim what to expect from this company. never ever

Had a massive dispute over bad service made me pay for something that I shouldn’t have and then tried requesting more money off my self. After around 2weeks of back and forth it was actually them that owed me money in the end. I will never renew with this company again. Nothing but trouble
