Here’s a strong review you could post: Absolutely shocking experience with Collingwood Insurance. They cancelled my insurance over one very minor detail that could have easily been corrected if they genuinely wanted to help. Instead of trying to resolve it professionally, they seemed more interested in cancelling the policy after I had already paid for the full year. Even worse, they refused to give a proper refund. Customer service was completely unhelpful and showed no understanding whatsoever. Mistakes happen, and any decent insurance company would at least try to sort it out fairly before jumping straight to cancellation. Feels like they were just looking for an excuse to keep the money and avoid providing the service I paid for. Would never recommend them to anyone. Be very careful before taking insurance with this company. I wish if i can give zero star.

Be careful, considering this is meant to be a temporary insurance while your child learns and passes as quickly as possible, we were shocked to find after my daughter passed her test within the first year, they took a £40 'Cancellation charge" to congratulate her on passing! Nice touch there Collingwood! Grabbing money any which way they can!

This insurance provider is great UNTIL the policyholder passes their driving test - and they then hit you with a ridiculous cancellation fee. If you’re expecting to pass your driving test within the term of the policy, THEN LOOK ELSEWHERE. DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE. (CIS - don’t bother yourselves to reply to this with some feeble justification regarding terms and conditions. The existence of a legally binding contract is no justification for unreasonable commercial behaviour)

***Warning do not use*** ***Warning do not use*** Please do not use this company for new learner insurance. They are all friendly when you take out the policy, but totally different when you cancel or need a claim. Also be aware you pay £40 cancellation charge when you pass your test as policy then becomes void. Wish we used another company our friends used. Thought we had a good deal at the start. Please think twice before using Collingwood

I bought an annual learner driver policy from Collingwood Insurance for my son for £256. The policy clearly stated that once he passed his driving test, the cover would no longer be valid, which I understood. My son ended up passing with only a few weeks left on the policy, so I was happy to simply let it run to expiry with no refund due. However, I was very surprised to receive an email saying I now owed a £40 “cancellation fee” because he had passed his test. The policy had already been paid in full and, once he passed, it could no longer be used anyway. Charging £40 just to allow the policy to end feels unreasonable. I can see from other reviews that many customers have experienced the same issue. Something to be aware of before buying.

Avoid!! Just been ‘fined’ the best part of £120 for cancelling the policy because my son passed his test, which you HAVE to do because the policy doesn’t cover them any more after they pass. It’s scandalous that this company operates like this. You can’t predict when you’ll be given a test date so you’re at their absolute mercy. A disgrace.

Collingwood Young Drivers Insurance is completely misleading. This policy is advertised as temporary, meant to cover learners until they pass their driving test. The moment my son passed, we cancelled — and were hit with a £125 cancellation fee. £125 just to cancel a policy that had already served its purpose. That is outrageous. A “temporary” policy that punishes you for cancelling after the test is nothing but a money trap. Totally unacceptable. Avoid at all costs.

AVOID AVOID. Paid the full policy upfront for 12 months. Just cancelled as my son passed his test. Now charging a cancellation fee. No mention of a refund for the remaining months we paid for but don’t need!!!!

Read the small print! Knowing you will cancel when you pass your test they then charge you the remainder of the balance even though they cancel your policy! Charged £120 for the pleasure! Avoid! Robbers!

Shocking. My daughter passed and had 6 months left on the provisional insurance so was expecting a refund of about £100, instead was told that I owe them £40 for cancelling!! How is this allowed on a product that is basically sold with the assumption that it will be cancelled within the year?

Hit by stealthy cancellation fee, leaves a bad taste - try and find a better company who won't charge so much when the insured pass their test, pitiful

AVOID THIS COMPANY. Up front they offer, what appears to be, very cheap learner driver insurance. However, the moment you pass your test they will cancel your policy and demand a fee for doing so. My son passed his test within two months. We had paid for his insurance monthly but they then told me we owed over £100. I specifically refused permission for them to take this payment but they did so anyway. This is clearly their business model. Absolute sharp practice, preying on young people and ruining what should be a moment of joy. They should be ashamed of themselves.

One star. Avoid. I took out a learner driver policy with Collingwood Insurance and cancelled it after passing my test. They congratulated me—then took 40% of my premium, plus a £75 cancellation fee and a £40 admin fee. Total rip-off. There was no clear warning that cancelling after doing exactly what the policy is meant for (passing your test!) would cost this much. Feels like they're just taking advantage of new drivers. Would not recommend. Hidden fees, bad service

void this company or at the very least, read the fine print carefully. As others have mentioned, canceling the policy comes with a significant additional charge. In my case, I was hit with a £70.00 non-refundable intermediary fee—an absolute rip-off for a service! Despite giving a month's notice and being up to date on all payments, I still have to pay £97.56. I will never use this company again.

Just told I won’t be refunded the insurance that has been cancelled. Felt so confused n until I read the comments here. Please don’t use this company, it’s a scam and they will lie to you and take your money saying it’s their policy. Absolute rubbish.
