You are scored negatively for using your mobile phone. This would be fine if it was the sole purpose however as a parent who allows their child use of the phone makes it completely unfair. Low score and nothing to do with any part of driving. Other insurance companies assess driving scores fairly without penalties if the phone is used legitimately. Please explain the justification.

Appallingly, at my age 55, I have used a fair few insurance companies. This without a doubt is the worst! Don't waste your time, the quotes maybe low but they cancel the policy willy nilly. Our telematics didn't get delivered for 10 days so they cancelled. We called they reinstated. We received the box but couldn't pair it. Went on holiday, came back and they've cancelled it again!!! Never ever have I had an insurance company whonoperate like this. I dread to think of how they operate if you've had an accident!! Apparently their telematics score differently on your app to what they see! Waste of my time and effort. Do not buy a policy from these cowboys.

Awful and impossible to remain within their 'parameters'. I never used my phone and stuck to the speed limits but apparently I 'braked' too much/hard and 'accelerated' too much/hard - really very difficult to understand what it is exactly that you're supposed to do - crash into people that pull out in front of you? Also, it says that only affectes your fuel so no idea why they're even scoring you on that!? Ridiculous. I drove so slowly, carefully and tried not to brake (!?) and still couldn't get my score above 19 - 30 is their minimum. Again, ridiculous. My insurance is now being cancelled and the only positive I can say about this insurance is that there's no charge for the cancellation. Customer Service actually was also good, so won't mark them down for that.

Cancellation after 1 trip, went from a score of 100 to 9 in 1 trip, should’ve checked the reviews first then I’d never have gone with these!… Never again..

Worst insurance I have ever been with. I had the black box delivered late and received an email to advise they were cancelling my insurance.( I hadn’t even had the black box delivered yet). 2 weeks in I received another email to advise my score had dipped below 30 and they would be cancelling my insurance, I looked at the app and it was above 30? I rang to complain and they advised the app can be faulty but will still be cancelling my insurance and they tried to charge me a cancellation fee.Will never go with these again definitely worth paying a bit extra and going with a proper insurance company. Awful system. Seems as though any chance they get to cancel they will, I cancelled before they could and refused to pay any fee’s, joke of a company.

Didn’t sort my tab issue out after I rang 8TIMES!!! Poor customer service help lines, had to explain my issue to 3 different people, all said the same thing and didn’t fix anything. Said I’m lying about not deleting and reinstalling the app, why would I lie about an issue I brought up first?! Decided to cancel my policy and only sent a warning email once! Been mistreated as a young driver, if you don’t want to be accused of not doing your part to fix THEIR issue AVOID!!!!!!

Terrible. Currently a learner and had my first drive with the black box. Drove pretty smoothly only braked ‘sharply’ once and got a score of 23 which was absolutely ridiculous. then they started sending me emails saying i need to tell them when i’m not driving and not to use low power mode on my phone? got fed up with being stressed over being tracked luckily i managed to cancel the black box as i only had 11/14 days coverage. rather pay a extra 200 on my insurance than deal with the stress on constant threats over inaccurate driving

Shocking - will be contacting OMBUDSMAN-can’t get away with such appalling service cancelling policy’s with NO warnings! Our daughter traumatised having policy cancelled because of using her Sat Nat!! BUYORS BE AWARE !!

They lowered my score because, in their opinion, I was going 10 miles over the limit. They ask me to prove it that the system is faulty. How am I supposed to prove that!! Avoid this nonsense.

Same as so many reviews, Hastings your software obviously does not work correctly! Scored down for phone use, when it was always in a holder and only ever used for Sat nav- you are setting everyone up for a fall, policy cancelled within a month, and yet 2 years with Tesco black box with no issues.

I wouldn’t even hashing drive 1 star, my daughter got the box which tracks your driving, kept saying she was using her phone when it was in a holder for sat nav , scored her really low and then said they are going to cancel her policy. Stay clear

They cancelled my sons insurance for one blip in 2 years. Now they will no longer have him, myself, my wife or any of our family/friends as customers again!

Terrible. My son had a black box policy with Tesco for two years, scoring 95-100 every month and earning loads of extra miles. Within two weeks of his Hastings policy he was scoring 0 on breaking for every trip. He tried all sorts to boost the score but it would not budge. They threatened to cancel the policy, so he cancelled it first.

This company charged me hidden fees that I didn't see in any of the policies given or the information provided on the website. I tried to cancel before the policy started because of all the extra details they required of me AND wanted to charge me admin fees for processing these additional requirements. I had to spend the entire working afternoon trying to cancel the policy and deal with the less than helpful customer service (because you can't cancel online, and kept being transferred from one 'team' to another). How do I charge them an admin fee for my time and effort?!

Don’t understand all these bad reviews. I assume they’re just people blaming the app for their own poor driving. If you drive well and courteously over time you’ll have a good score.. those who have a bad score will blame the app. It’s never their fault! I’m constantly striving to get a better score and it makes me a better driver and therefore safer for everyone. Recommend his highly.Anyone reading this..take no notice of the bad reviews given by people who don’t like their poor driving being called out!

Had a fault with drive equipment and never returned any driver reports, had a email out of blue to say because of this my insurance was cancelled. Called to try to sort out. Was told not intrested. And would not reinstate my insurance. Tryed to speak to manager. Was put on hold, and returned to say that elizabeth haskell the manager refused to speak to me. Worst insurance. Next stop ombudsman.

Wow, this is shocking. Honestly, the worst insurance I have ever purchased. Cancelled after 1 month, harsh breaking and phone use (my phone has only ever been used for maps and not while driving) No way of communicating, no way of fixing the problem. Complete waste of time.
