I would definitely not use this company anymore. I had an accident and the person at fault admit to it but octagon charged me nearly double each month without my consent. Tried to call them they were so rude to me i started crying. I had no control about the situation although it was not my fault, they were still taking money out of my account. When my insurance was ready to renew I called them again feeling so anxious, they said they have a new quote for me. I told them that im not interested I just want my money refunded because they have been over charging me. They promised that they would contact me to update me on the process. I did not hear from them but saw a cheque came through my letterbox for nearly 500 pounds. I would never used them againnnnnnnnnnn.

I'm rating Octagon 3/5 as I have just cancelled my policy. I renewed on Compare the Meerkats and they raised my premium £49 for not having simply accepted their renewal offer. I wanted to keep my 2 for 1 movies! I have not had a great experience with Octagon's communication when making a claim and wanted to switch anyway but continued with them as best value quote. I did not receive any communbication about the increased premium, I called them to confirm they had received my NCD proof. First call on Tuesday this week, no problem they told me, all is in hand then today, now that my previous policy has expired, I need to pay extra! Now I have had to pay £20 to cancel and wait 7-10 days for my refund. Pick another company!

Currently calling Octagon for a quote and been on hold for 15 minutes without speaking to anyone, if this is how they treat potential new customers then I don't think I want to risk taking out insurance with them!

Never had an accident in 30+years of driving didn't get much help on claim side just wanted to get out of way quickly wrote my car off said would have cost £1100 I wanted car back as I loved my car I could repair for less than £200 would cost me £ 350 to get my own car back!!! When you insure your car it then belongs to them why?

It seems a shame if you are not able to drive for whatever reason for more than a period of two years Octagon claims that it is an industry policy that your No Claims bonuses cannot be used against a policy. As a relatively safe driver never making a claim against any insurance policy, I have lost my conscious effort to avoid causing an RTA. If you ever find yourself in such a position I would recommend to try your best to maintain an affordable policy for such needs. You may be required to travel or consider a mid term hospitalisation for a period longer than two years. It is a shame if it is an industry policy that the honest and safe drivers have contribute to the level of car insurance fraud and crime that is reported in the press. If you have consider insuring a vehicle after a couple years absence from driving. I would recommend to shop around until you find a company you are happy with. I found the Post Office good at the beginning but they wanted to stack the insurance premium if I was a young driver!

When I initially signed up to Octagon I was given a given a call from someone from the Octagon call centre to confirm my insurance details. What followed was a very aggressive sales pitch from the telephone operator to upsell me for a range of additional services which I politely declined. However the operator was extremely adamant and persistent that I required these additional services and she would not take 'no' for an answer. When I finally said 'no' enough times, you rushed through my policy T&C's with me to the point where I could not keep up with her! Other than the unpleasant confirmation call I received, I am very happy with my cheap and cheerful policy. aggressive sales pitch by the telephone operator

Electronic documents incomplete, and website next to useless. Communications poor. They appeared to be completely baffled by me changing insurers at the same time I was purchasing a new car, surely an everyday occurence for them! They made it excessively difficult to transition from one insurer and car to the other on the same day, saying I couldn`t have two sets of insurance with the same no-claims running concurrently, and I had to come up with additional proof this was not the case. I know you can't use your ncb on more than one policy, but most insurers ignore this anomaly for the few hours overlap. I could not recommend Octagon.

Thought i was being looked after with my 1998 2.5 V6 vectra until i tried to change to a 2002 mk4 1.6 astra and was told my policy would increase from 80 per month to 180 per month!!! Absolute joke! So i cancelled the policy and went elsewhere...and to my surprise i recieved a cancellation fee through the post for a rediculous amount again...which they are still waiting for i'd like to add!! I pay 48 a month with another onsurance provider...how you guys got 180 i will never know...i wouldnt reccomend you to anyone!!!

Once initial contact had been made in respect of my claim, there was no further correspondence as it is the passed to a Third Party company

Cancelled the policy because I found it cheaper elsewhere when I tried to cancel they were very difficult and even though I was in my 14 day period they still charged me cancellation fee and admin fee the usual they are not a very caring company nor where they willing to listen to me. I would never buy insurance from Octagon or recommend stay well away.

The professionalism exhibited by staff leaves a lot to be desired, I was involved in accident and subsequently made a claim for repairs arrangements were made with their named body repair shop namely DW Walton located in Trafford Park I have been in touch with them on numerous occasions without success with regards to the repairs they provided me with dates on which the repairs will be completed 19.02.15,26.02.15 & 11.03.15 to date I am still waiting not only have they not asked me whether I required a courtesy car they have virtually made false promises resulting in me losing income by taking time off work anticipating delivery of the vehicle as promised. I have incurred exhorbitant premium phone charges in trying to contact their subsidiary responsible for arranging repairs, it goes without saying their customer service is appalling for that reason I am compelled to institute civil litigation for loss of earnings.

Lousy customer service- Premium Rate Numbers- on hold for ages! Costs a small fortune to make even the smallest of changes to your policy. You know the Sketch- Cheap is far from cheerful.
