Poor service, both in store, and online! Went to pick up my monthly repeat order at the Kinnaird Park Edinburgh Pets At Home branch today, where normally the staff are great, helpful, and always have my 3 or 4 large bags of dog food ready on a trolley, which they kindly take to the car for me. Been doing this for a number of months now and there’s never been any issues but as I hadn’t received the usual email saying they were ready to collect, so I called them 4 days ago and spoke to a girl who said the order was a bag short but it should arrive in a couple of days, then gave me an excuse about road works at their distribution warehouse causing issues. Today I had the unfortunate luck to meet Duncan the manager, who appeared with my bags of Beta dog food in his hands at the checkout, then preceded to give me a load of bull regarding why my repeat order was one bag short. After questioning the situation he suggested I contact them using the online chat on the Pets At Home website (Which when I tried once at the car, just gave me a failed message!) I asked him if he could just provide a bag off the shelf in the store to make up the order, I was told no, that wasn’t possible, and that I’d be refunded for the missing one. The store car park was extremely busy this morning so I had to park at the rear of the store, which is a long way from the main entrance. When I asked Duncan why the bags weren’t already on a trolley as normal, he replied oh I can get you a trolley if you want? This guy possibly thinks he’s too high up the pecking order to provide the quality of service the staff under him do, or maybe he missed some training courses? Anyway, monthly repeat order now cancelled, and I’ll take my business to a competitor from now on and I won’t be back in the store again. My advice to anyone looking for pet supplies or services would be, avoid the grief, and do the same.

I found that it stocks virtually everything pets need albeit a little pricily. I did like customer attendants being a bit strict on conditions they would sell fish on, however I did think it hypocritical that they did not follow their own guidance themselves - they only sell you one goldfish per 60l tank yet keep probably 15 in a 40 l tank on sale!!

Chatbot options not relevant to my question about vet services. Filled in text box but chatbot could not understand. Pets have human owners so I want to speak to a human!

Pets at home chuck wet and dry food together in order, guaranteeing wet food arrives pierced, seeping, leaking and inedible. Zero customer service. Phone line directs to Facebook. Chatbots request emails with photographic evidence. Emails not answered. Total disgrace.

Bought kong toy for my dog. Within 20 minutes it started to come apart with dog chewing. Didn't last . Took it back for refund, refused by manager dog had chew it. Explain I bought kong to last longer. Inform I had to take it up with kong. I will no longer shop at pets at home in york and purchase over the Internet with a different company.

Bought my Jack Russell puppy a set of 3 tennis balls supposedly designed for puppies. Within minutes of her playing fetch with them, the fabric coating went very woolly to the point that they couldn't even be rolled along a tiled floor. Total waste. Got her some good Kong balls online that she can play with for hours. Pets at home sell so much rubbish that isn't fit for purpose.

Visited Pets at Home, Nuneaton, today with my grand-daughters aged 10 & 7 for a Petting Session. Simone, the member of staff supervising our visit was fabulous. She had a very warm, friendly & welcoming nature and allowed plenty of time for the girls to cuddle and feed their favourite animals the guinea pigs. Simone also allowed time for the girls 2 feed the lovely fish in their tanks. Many thanks to Simone, we will definitely make another visit 🤗

I visited your Bridlington branch today and I felt the need to leave a fab review. This store is always clean and tidy and the staff are always so helpful. Today we purchased a hamster for my daughter and was served by Stace she was super helpful explained everything we needed and couldn’t have helped enough. She served us quickly and answered all the questions we had. There was another girl on the tills with red hair I didn’t get her name unfortunately but again so lovely she asked how we was upon approaching the checkouts and was really friendly. The staff in this store deserve a bonus.

Just opened one of my boxes of Butchers tray dog food to find many of them squashed and 2 split open. Not the first time they've arrived damaged. Obviously more care needs to be taken with delivery.

pets at home is a very popular place for people to buy small pets and supplies, however it gives out all the wrong info and is hypocritical and the reason for many animals have a bad life. There hamster cages are extremely small a way under the minimum however a lot of them are labelled "large hamster enclosure" when there far from it, their rabbit/Guinea pig enclosures are the correct sizes for hamsters and the minimum depth witch shows they can build cages the correct sizes and just make the bars smaller but do not. I have seen multiple people buying pets from there being given all the wrong info, people put their trust into this business but end up with stressed out animals living a bad life. yes, some of the products are good for eg SOME of their pet food such as the selective brand are good whereas updated vet studies have showed food such as the "friends farm harry hamster" food are not nutritional, another eg is on multiply YouTube videos say how rabbits need 2meters x 3meters and 1 meter tall to properly run around and do zoomies and binkies but in stores they say that they only need to be able to take 3 hops forward in their enclosures, very hypocritical. I believe that pets at home has a lot of potential too help many people educate them selves and give their animals a good life it would be so easy for them to sell the rabbit cages with smaller bars as hamster cages and get rid of the abusive cages they currently sell for hamsters and sell proper sized pens such as xpens for rabbits and Guiana pigs.
