I am very pleased with the Bank. The claim was dealt with promptly. My only worry is losing my no claim bonus and what the premium will be next year. if it is too high I shall have to look elsewhere.

After many years with Sainburys Bank I decided to switch banking to the much better interest offered by TSBBank. The switch is supposed to be easy but Sainsburys have made the whole thing awkward. TSBBank rang today to say Sainsburys have refused to make the switch. Several phone calls later I now have to write a letter to Sainsburys asking them to supply a code to allow me to switch. I have to include passport and driving licence photocopies. Warning - in my experience Sainsburys do not want to let you close your account. Perhaps they are losing too much business to other better banks. The contact phone number on the back of my Sainburys ATM card actually connected me to Halifax banking!!!!!!!

I initially tried to order some Travel Money online having been told in branch I would get a better rate but could not find the currency required so phoned on the 0845 number.I explained the situation to the Rep and he checked and assured me that he could get the required currency. The order was completed and £1000.00 taken from my account and it was arranged that I would collect the money at my local branch. Two days later a message was left on my home line, this was after giving them a prefered number to call me on other than my home line, the message was to inform me that they could not fill my order and would give me a refund in three to five working days.Being on a disabled pension the £1000.00 pounds was all the money I had so had no way of getting the foreign currency elsewhere.Once again the 0845 number was called and after speaking to their rep I was put on hold while a supervisor was found, all at my cost without a mention of we will call you back, after a long wait the supervisor came on to explain how sorry they were but they could not get the currency anywhere and there was nothing else to be done other than transfering the money back into my account.I explained my financial situation and asked if they could not get the currency how was i supposed too especially as they had my money and by the time the funds were back in my account i should have been on holiday.Sainsburys offer a courier service when buying foreign currency so suggested that they used this to deliver my money back to me only to be told they do not hold Sterling!!!!!!!!After further arguing my case they offered a faster transfer,Two working days, and £20.00 as a good will gesture and as an after thought changed that to compensation.I doubt the £20.00 will cover the phone bill. Quite simply the worst customer service anywhere.DO NOT USE SAINSBURY'S BANK

The worst service ever! I made an over-payment on my loan, following their instructions by calling them in advance of the payment to notify them that I will be making over-payments regularly. When after 4 weeks I received no letter confirming my over-payment I called, turns out they "misunderstood me" and no note was made to indicate my intentions to make over-payments, which means that the amount was reduced by the interest was not recalculated! Seriously, why would anyone make over-payments with no view of reducing interest?! So that was sorted. Next month I made another over-payment, 4 weeks later still no letter. I called them, they claimed to have been clearing backlog but my payment has been recorded. I asked if it would be backdated to the date they actually received it on and not recalculated as of the date they actually get to it to do so. They said it would be backdated, but after the experience can I trust them? Especially considering they do not show any of their calculations they just tell you how much you have saved. So not exactly transparent.

In 2008 I was made redundant and unable to make full repayments on my loan/credit card. Sainsburys agreed an arranged payment plan which I religiously paid. I have since paid these off. When obtaining my credit report recently I was horrified to see that Sainsburys have recorded a default notice against me each month for 5 years which has prevented me from getting credit over the years. I also had to take a high interest mortgage because of this. They have not recorded any of the payments I made to them. They have also recorded conflicting information on both credit agencies!! They have also recorded different outstanding amounts on the credit reports. I have made enquiries and if a payment plan had been agreed they are not allowed to register a default notice against you. What have Sainsburys done to rectify this... Nothing so will now refer to FOS for guidance.

One of the worst services I have ever dealt with. I took a home loan out a few years ago, made a number of overpayments and they did not seem to be able to give me a settlement figure. I had to call back 6 times and each time they apologised saying that it was due to their systems not being able to calculate the amount. They then sent me a letter saying I had missed a payment two weeks before the payment was due - the letter was dated end of March and the direct debit payment was due mid April. They call themselves a bank and are unable to even calculate interest payments correctly. Honestly, I'd avoid them at all costs!

I am very happy with Sainsbury's car insurance. I was involved in an accident and the car was written off. Sainbsury's staff were helpful and quick to sort out my claim.

I found Sainsbury's very good value and very competitive and even when changing vehicle midway through the year to an upgrade the additional premium asked was very reasonable. I have every intention of staying with them and would not hesitate to recommend them.
