Easy to take out car insurance but not very clear at end of process whether free Excess Insurance was activated by Go Compare at time of sale. I chose a higher excess than I would normally because of Excess cover. No notification to affirm this for 5 to 8 weeks. Last year it came through immediately after purchase of car insurance.

Hi, Thanks for leaving us your feedback. Recently the activation process for our excess protection cover changed. Whereas previously you would have to manually activate the cover, now we will do it for you automatically so please do not worry. We’re activating your free excess cover, so for the time being, you can sit back and relax! Your excess cover runs alongside the car insurance policy you bought with us, so you’ll be covered from the date your car insurance starts.   We’ll email your excess cover policy documents soon. Your policy documents should arrive between five and eight weeks after you bought your car insurance with us. If its been more than nine weeks and you haven’t received them please let us know. If you require any further assistance, please let us know by email at customerservices@gocompare.com or by phone at 01633 654 019. We’re open Monday to Friday between 09:00 and 17:30. Regards, Tom.

The following has been sent to the RAC survey. I have taken my policy with them purely on price but I was NOT impressed with their website for ease or non-ease of use.: I was transferred to your site from GO-COMPARE their advert at the moment says policy excess will be returned after any claim is settled. Yet there is no mention on this either online or on phone with your rep. Your policy document completion on -line broke into error mode at least twice and I had to put my information in again and after the first attempt I forgot about the excess application so I'm NOT happy as I don't know if my now policy includes this or not. Proof of NCD was first that I didn't need to provide this but at the end I was told that I had to. At the start of the online process it states that more policy extras are included than when you reach the end of form. The online form doesn't allow for entering just factory immobiliser without alarm.

I don't know what happened, but having logged into your site. I then get given the RAC for the cheapest insurance. It was very odd, I had just been checking the insurance out with the RAC. The lowest insurance they could offer me, was over £400. Then an RAC offer came up £200 less. So I obviously I bought that. I didn't understand what the £250 was for? If at all possible, I would like an explanation of what happened. Andrew Jackson. PS: I can't recommend you, or not recommend you. I didn't use your agency.

Anyone looking for insurance needs to know every tiny detail to be able to compare policies. You gave only basic cover without ability to look at all the extras you may expect.

After getting a price for my van insurance, I was disappointed to find that when I went to the broker, the price increased quite significantly, they just said that they couldn't do it for that price.

LV would not offer a quote because of my driving licence - it didn't say what was wrong or different about the licence number , so I suppose I'll have to try another company on your list.

The process was easy but I was shocked that you had forwarded me to Bewiser. They didn’t know my details and then they forwarded me to another company who once more knew nothing. Talk about none communication!!

I am 86 with a 60 year no accident record. My best quote on renewal is almost £1,000. I cannot find any reason for this. My annual mileage is only 6,000. Why can’t this apparently penal figure not be explained to me by the insurance industry ?

All good until I tried to follow through with the first two cheapest car insurance quotes. Several attempts to buy were unsuccessful as the insurers’ website kept crashing....may not be GoCompare’s fault but Hastings Insurance website?
