Despite the advice of a couple of other traffic-specific solicitor firms, that I should just take a conviction for not informing the police of the identity of a driver on the chin, caused by the incident occurring at the time I was moving house and some apparently mis-delivered post, Mr Trotter advised that he could probably have the conviction rescinded by negotiating with the CPS, which he successfully did in court, the magistrates agreeing to quash both the failure to disclose and the original speeding offence, which cancelled 6 points that had been added to my licence and a £1500 fine. The representation was not cheap, but I can definitely say that it was very good value. It is particularly important to note that this form of dialogue with the CPS is not open to private individuals, so Mr Trotter's experience and intervention was immensely valuable.

My experience with Hammond Trotter Solicitors was extremely distressing — so much so that it has taken me over a year to process what happened and finally write this review. I have never committed an offence before, nor was it ever my intention to do so. The incident that led to my case occurred during a period of extreme stress, and I reached out to the firm in a state of desperation, unfamiliar with the legal system and hoping for guidance. Initially, I was offered a warm and reassuring picture of how things might proceed. I paid £500 upfront for a written statement, which ultimately proved to be of no use and contained multiple spelling mistakes. In hindsight, I should have walked away at that point — but I was not in the right mental state to make that decision. My case was handled by a solicitor named Mark, whom I never met in person until the day of the hearing. Prior to that, our total communication amounted to less than 30 minutes over the phone. On the day of the hearing, Mark informed me — just ten minutes before entering court — that additional, more serious charges had been added and the case would be moved to Crown Court. When I asked why I hadn’t been told earlier, he admitted he had known since the previous week but chose not to inform me because he believed “it wouldn’t have made any difference.” I was advised on the spot to plead guilty to all charges. There was no discussion of my mental health at the time of the incident, nor did Mark seem to have any understanding of my background or circumstances. At one point, the judge asked whether I could understand what was being said in court — presumably because my name didn’t sound British. Rather than advocate for me, Mark simply looked at me for confirmation. I had lived in the UK for 15 years by then and held a management position. At the end of the brief hearing, Mark rushed off without giving me a chance to ask questions or discuss any possible defence. I was left standing alone, confused, and deeply disappointed. If you are not British, or if you are vulnerable in any way, I strongly urge you to look elsewhere for legal support. My experience was not only unprofessional — it was traumatising.

I really appreciated the directness of Martin from the very first interaction. He wasn’t “salesy” and told me that he would give me tue best professional advice even if it wasn’t what I wanted to hear. I found Phillip personable; he listened well and asked appropriate questions. Marc followed up on emails as he said he would. I was relieved and happy that all charges were dropped even before court. Thank you team. 🙏🏽

Andrew Goodison To all the people out there looking for a good solicitor avoid this firm like the plague I enlisted the services of this firm and was introduced to a mr trotter who filled me full off hope that I would keep my driving licence the day of the court hearing came he turned up full of cold and appeared not to want to be there we went in front of the bench and the performance of trotter was pathetic he didn’t question the verdict and I got a 6 month ban he told me at the start if the decision went against me he would appeal straight away nothing he just walked away with £1300 of my money for nothing I wouldn’t recommend this bunch of clowns if they were the last firm on earth think twice guys

Mr Trotter was very professional and thorough in dealing with my case. I was facing the possibility of not only losing my driving licence but also my job. I felt relaxed and confident going into court, due to his no nonsense approach. He presented my defence very accurately and did everything in his power to help me avoid a ban. I would definitely recommend his services to anyone who finds themselves in a similar situation to mine.

Philip Trotter represented me at 12 point hearing and successfully pleaded exceptional hardship, allowing me to keep licence. He was friendly and helpful throughout. His approach was very thorough and professional. He exuded calmness and confidence (not what I was feeling). I was very impressed by his well practiced presentation skills, as were the magistrates based on the successful outcome. I would strongly recommend Philip and the rest of the team that I liaised with at Hammond Trotter Solicitors. Great job - thanks!
