“As with many of these reviews, mine is mixed. Yesterday was the first and last time I’ll buy a power tool there. Was defective from the start. When I returned it the next day they tried to play the restocking fee card. I wasn’t having any of it. They eventually gave a full refund. The restocking fee should be considered as a warning. They don’t even have enough faith in there products to stand behind them so try to compensate with a restocking fee.”
“I've never had an issue with Harbor Freight until today. Less than a week ago I purchased a chainsaw. I didn't need it as my reciprocating saw did the job. I never even opened the box so it was exactly as it was when I left the store down to the zip tie on the saw blade plastic cover. It had an opening on the box to carry it with and the cashier implied something was missing from that opening. Like what???? My hand??? Maybe it was just that employee or location but it appears they're not overly happy when you return something. Lost me as a customer @ that store.”
“I have been buying at harbor freight for many years. Usually I am happy with what I get. Recently I purchased a 20 gallon air compressor. It works great if the temperature is over 80, otherwise it will not start. It powers my air tools just fine. My problem is when I need it most is when it's cooler. Do not buy the McGraw compressor. Go for the Hercules.”
“The prices are good BUT, they have a tendency to change suppliers and not be able to get parts, then you're stuck with a set of power yard tools that you can't get a battery for, warning, warning, warning!!!”
“BUYER BEWARE!!! I will say the staff was great, helpful and nice. However I am not happy with the cashier charging me a membership fee of $29.95 without even asking us if we wanted to be a member or explaining anything to us about it. She just charged us the fee. Looking at the receipt on our way home we noticed this charge. I called to ask what it was for and they explained it to me. We never approved this! I asked for a refund but they wouldn’t refund me over the phone so I had to go back to the store 30 minutes there and 30 minutes home to get my refund. Not a happy customer! She was sneaky!”
“I like them but recently they wouldn’t honor a coupon that members got for 45%off. Said it was an error. Should have been 15% off. I think they should have honored since it was their mistake.”
“My Load Master utility tool box was bought three weeks ago in Clifton Park NY. In outfitting my trailer I have purchased hitch locks and more, I need three keys. With the exception of Harbor Freight it was easy to order a third key. Not so with Harbor Freight. The store manager was sympathetic, he told me to call corporate service department replacement parts. They do not handle spare keys. You could go to HD or LO. Nada. Leaving me with two options. Go to a small key shop $$ or order a better lock. The harbor freight lock is flimsy so replacement may be the best route.
Sorry Harbor Freight, your customer service sucks.”
“I've just got a question? If a product is on clearance and the display is the only one left. Now why is it they don't want to sell the display? And maybe I'm always looking from a common sense point of view. I had a manger tell me he couldn't sell the display because more might come in. And I'm thinking " then when more comes in take one out of the box and put on display...! Is it that hard to do something so simple? Went to buy a gun 3 weeks ago in Morganton at Rural King. Drove 30minutes one way and they refused to sell me a pistol. Because on my NC license it has (St) for street! On my gun permit it had (Street) spelled out! There's a scientific reason why they do that. It's called space! No not up in the sky or between your ears. There's very little space on the license to print everything... And the manager said it was wrong and would not sell me a gun. No common sense inexcusable idiot! There every where and they are Losing Business! Mine... What ever become of *Customer Satisfaction Guaranteed? And I was starting to like shopping HF!”
