The book was lovely but I made a mistake and noticed it straight away so I emailed them as it was about 10.30 in the evening. I got a message at 9.30 the next morning saying that it was too late to change it as they print over night. I think they should therefore have a 24hr telephone line so any mistake could be dealt with at the time.

Not a great experience and probably wouldn't use them again. I purchase as a gift for my parents 45th wedding anniversary and although I paid what I thought was more than reasonable for post and packaging, the item did not arrive in time (took over two weeks to arrive) and the company did not send via recorded or tracked mail. My parents went on holiday without their gift from us and had to have it when they returned, which sort of spoiled the day in my opinion. When I contacted customer services, I was told by the member of staff I could have a refund and if it turned up to return the item, then I was told her manager said I was entitled to one and I had to wait up to another two weeks in case it arrived. The item was nice and genuine when it finally arrived (although £50 for newspaper in a box that arrived late is high in my opinion), but would not buy from them again due to delivery and service. Of course they said they can't be held responsible for delivery, but if they are charging a delivery fee, as the seller they should be accountable to ensure the product is delivered (on-time) by tracked/recorded delivery. I would not recommend.

Payed extra for a special delivery service in order to receive my item quicker but received it 9 days later! Not happy

Disappointed. Accept that there would not be many papers for 1930 so went for THE GUARDIAN - only when it arrived it was MANCHESTER GUARDIAN. Paid for the special box and hugely disappointed that it was so large - you could have packed 20 Papers into it. I have to take it to France so, although not heavy, it is bulky. I did try to contact Historic Newspapers but received no reply. Interesting that they can get through to my email when they want a review. Well, here it is.

I was very disappointed as ordered a birthday book for my dads 86th birthday & was excitedly looking forward to it arriving. After approx 2-3 weeks I had an email to say that he was born on a Sunday & they did not print a Sunday Telegraph then.

Sadly quite disappointed by the quality for £40.

Very disappointed that the first page was extremely dark printing. Everything else was lovely. I felt embarrassed giving it as a gift but didn't have time to complain. I won't be purchasing again .

I ordered a 40th birthday presentation pack commemorating every headline paper, nicely bound and personalised. That wasnt the problem, but paying for it was a nightmare! Every time I got to the payment screen, it gave me the neverending circle and then blanked the screen. This happened 3 times, I contacted their helpdesk who suggested i use another PC ! I gave up after that. Three weeks later i decided to have another go, again the same thing happened - so youre also not knowing whether your monies have been taken or not. Again i contacted the helpdesk who was a bit more helpful this time around .Finally I recieved an e mail saying that they had recieved the order! There was NOTHING at the point of sale to say all was ok.

I realise that it is a newspaper from the date requested but on receipt found it folded in a piece of tissue paper in a box that was too big for the item, which instead of making it look special had the complete opposite effect. Cannot see how the price is justified as it shouldn't take a person long to extract the correct paper, if as suspected the papers are correctly organised, and then the wrapping should only take half an hour at most. The price even with the 25% discount seems ridiculously overpriced.

I ordered the Guardian newspaper for October 17th 1958. That was confirmed in an email. I received the Times from October 17th 1968. Wrong paper, wrong decade. I was asked to take pictures of paper to prove I had wrong one. I now have the correct one. I will now have to visit a post office to send the original wrongly delivered paper.

Packaging wasn’t good. Book arrived damaged with bent corners. Disappointing, as was a gift!

This review is based upon customer service, the books themselves are beautiful and very well presented. I ordered a Middlesbrough football book for my husband’s 60th birthday and unbeknown to me my sister had ordered the same book for him inscribed with his name. My sister also ordered two other books so in total we spent approx £250. The website clearly states that personalised books cannot be returned and this was obviously not the fault of the company, but under the circumstances I hoped they would offer a goodwill discount on another book. I emailed suggesting this and was told they could only offer 10%, which was available to all customers. I was disappointed with this, especially when I received a generic email later that day offering 20% to all customers. I emailed again, to the customer services manager, a week ago but have had no reply. This is a lovely gift but the customer service is very disappointing.

3 days after ordering I was told the newspaper I ordered was damaged beyond repair so it couldn’t be sold. No other similar ones available.

I was very disappointed with the quality of the product. The finish was way below what I expected for the price paid. I bought it for my daughters 40th birthday but felt so let down when it arrived I decided I wont be giving her it. Didnt request a refund as I left it too late.

I think Historic Newspapers use other companies to send the papers for them. Mine was sent from Scotland, but HN has an English address. I paid for standard international delivery, but they sent it UK 24 postage so it took ages to get to France, and they pocketed the difference. Not really impressed with their service to be honest.

I upgraded my purchase to add the wine and a lovely presentation box. 1st fault was they didn’t have the Sunday Post as that was the newspaper I had chose. Next the wine they gave as part of the presentation box was only a £9.50 bottle I could buy from Tesco. So disappointing!

I was very disappointed with the 60’s book and thought it was very overpriced. I had wanted it to be available in a personalised presentation binding but it wasn’t. I also thought the delivery cost was too much.

Book is nice quality. But bought for a 75th birthday and was disappointed at quality of print up until the 1970s. Also font is very tiny so not very readable. I did query and raise this with customer service but was told that is just how it is. Should be a warning that it is only readable with a magnifying glass. The earlier pages have lots of blotches and white patches. Disappointed overall. Might be nice if you wanted from 70s onwards...

Enclosed an entirely inappropriate free additional newspaper (queens funeral) with a 99 year old’s birthday gift. Mistakes happen, and I think every one is an opportunity to improve. Unfortunately when I pointed out the inappropriateness of the gift to the support team, their response was of complete disinterest.

This was a surprise gift and when delivered the box was open - unsealed. Therefore the person who gift was for saw the gift ruining the surprise
