“The newspaper was on 6 pages which was disappointing and the size was not mentioned on the discription on line. Felt it would not make an impressive birthday present. I have returned it to Historic Newspapers.”

“The quality of newspaper pages were no better than photocopies, I feel let down when I give this as a present to my wife.”

The Daily Mirror only started full-colour printing in 2008, so earlier editions, like yours, were archived from black-and-white microfilms. These can vary in quality due to the original technology used. We do our best to enhance the scans, but the reprint you received was created from the original newspaper for your chosen date. “I’ve been trying to receive my order with no joy, order no HN 543325 I have asked for updates etc but any emails I send are undelivered I have paid balance due but still no response this has been going on from the 24th of July”

“Frame was in pieces and unusable. Paid extra for the inscription, it was on the back of the frame and not visible. Basically paid 1000 dollars for the paper, that was the only usable item.”

“The expedited shipping and quality of the packaging was spot on. I didn’t realize the pages were inclusive of every other surrounding article my chosen team was featured in. The book is newspaper size and must of it is not legible. Although the concept was appreciated - the gift overall was a flop.”

“I ordered the paper so it would arrive in time for the significant birthday and not knowing how it would be labelled I didn’t want it arriving too far in advance, the confirmation stated it would arrive between set days which covered the date I needed it by. It didn’t arrive until 3 days later by which time the birthday had passed. Most disappointing. The box and paper were of good quality.”

“Disappointing is the headline. I ordered the Birthday Newspaper Book for my friend of over 40 years on the assumption it was a selection of newspapers, it wasn't, it was only the Daily Mirror. In terms of ordering, the tool used for adding a message is a grid of five lines, each capable of taking 30 characters... it's an appalling way of doing things because proper spacing is virtually impossible. In conclusion, it was a poor choice, it was expensive and I'd say not worth it for such an important present.”

“Ordered 2 Birthday Edition Newspapers books. I was provided with a date at checkout and was happy with this because it meant they would arrive in time for my trip to my children. However, 2 days before I was due to receive them I received an email stating they would be delays to the following week. Given this was the main present and I panicked. Historic Newspapers clearly do not understand the urgency of a date even though they advertise their products for date related celebrations. As is happened, the delivery arrived the next day but no thanks to Historic Newspapers. I have a stressful day and had to research other appropriate presents which I could receive on time. They really need to understand at how their email is going to be received and act appropriately. Accurate information is essential and if they can't guarantee a delivery time they should automatically provide a refund, if there is a financial impact, perhaps they will make a little more effort. I have learned my lesson and would not use them or recommend them. The Newspaper Book was nice but, worth the money, I am not so sure.”

“We thought that we had ordered a book of the events on a particular day during the last 50 years of Private Eye. Instead we received a single copy of Private Eye for our specified date. When we queried this we were told that Private Eye was not one of the publications which were available, only 2 National newspapers we available. This was not made clear on the order form.”

“Ordered for a birthday present with confirmation that we would receive no later than the day before the birthday and the fact the book was relevant to the date we expected to receive it in time. What actually happened is we was informed of it’s despatch the day before the birthday and was sent by standard delivery resulting in us receiving the order two days after the big day. Can’t say if the product is worth the cost as we have had no feedback from the recipient but if you are considering making a purchase I would recommend allowing more than the 11 days we did.”

“This is the second book I've ordered. Such unique presents for the men in my life. The leather bound book was beautifully presented and you have the choice of having the name and birth date embossed on the front of the covers. Very pleased with my husband's book in November 2021and my brother 's book for February 2022. Highly Recommended.”
