“Good deal on the buy one get one half price before September so thank you for that but unfortunately both pairs too narrow for my son so need to return. Your returns policy is outrageous. Correct me if I'm wrong but according to your website either you buy a return label for £1 when you buy your shoes, or schoolshoes.com will deduct £4 from my refund if I drive it myself through the Royal Mail? Also, I paid though PayPal who operate a "free returns if you buy through us" policy so I await your reply on how I can return these shoes for FREE please. Regards Robyn Belben”

Dear Robyn, Thank you for the review and I am sorry to hear the shoes did not fit as expected, at present, we do not offer free returns, this is something we continue to monitor and hope to implement in the future. To counteract this, we offer every customer the option to buy a prepaid returns label for £1 extra & we cover the rest of the returns postage. We also allow one free exchange per order, should you need a different size. “Having painstakingly gone through the ordering process (itself not easy, because of the segregation of shoe sizes), the website then refused to allow me to order anything: every delivery option was "unavailable" -- I was told to select another one, only for that to be "unavailable" too. I also find it highly suspicious that the company is collecting date of birth information: why on earth would it need that? No other online shop asks you to share that kind of personal info.”

Dear Customer, Thank you for the review and I am sorry to hear you had difficulty placing an order on the website. The date of birth request is a Klarna requirement, this is a service we offer whereby the customer can pay for the purchase at a later date if they choose to and one of the requirements for that is that Klarna requests you provide your date of birth. We do not receive this information and our systems do not store the date of birth for our respective customers. I am sorry for any inconvenience caused or if you found this request to be offensive in any manner, we did not mean to offend or make you feel uncomfortable. If you still want to place an order we are happy to do this over the phone and we do need for you to provide your date of birth, our telephone number is 0116 326 0886 and our office opening times are Mon-Fri between 10am and 4pm.
