“I am a bit disappointed because even though I bought the acoustical level, I still hear sounds from the outside coming through the window. I think that the inserts are helping with temperature control but are not the best sound barrier. Sounds I hear are cars one block away as well as people's voices. The windows are completely sealed with not gaps. We'll see how well they do during the hot summer months.”

“Two of the three inserts were easy to install and prevented frost from forming on the outside glass. The third one was difficult to install because it is was cut too large by about 1/8". It took extra hard pushing and smushing the rubber cushions to the max. As a result, leaks allowed frost to build up on the exterior glass window. So, I tucked in rope window caulk around its perimeter. It helped a bit, but the Indow is bowed due to being oversized.”

“My application is a “skylight”. I have no frame support other than a hole insert. I asked and order specifications call for 2 “D” rings on ends so that I can manage the inset from either side. I have just 1 “D” ring poorly placed and not able to set the Indow insert straight in the skylight hole. I have the window shoved up in the hole, but not sure it is a correct fit. The Indow arrived without hardware - that was quickly corrected and pins shipped shortly after. I am waiting for someone to FaceTime me so that they can look at my skylight fit. I have it jammed in the hole for now. —- Initial customer service was fantastic. They even helped me with measurements over the phone. Just not sure my Indow is fitting as it should. — shipping and packaging was very good”

“I installed Indow acoustic inserts in my bedroom inside of windows that were relatively new (less than a year) but were poor quality, meet-minimum code requirements, "builder class" Anderson Windows. My main desire was for noise reduction, but I welcomed the added thermal efficiency. Basically, the Indows delivered on the thermal efficiency improvement, but fell short on the noise reduction. The noise I have to deal with is primarily low frequency, aircraft overflight as well as idling diesel engines. If you approach Indow about noise reduction, make sure you discuss with them the type of noise you need to reduce. I do not think that Indow tried to mislead me, but I would suggest to them that they really talk to people about noises they want to reduce. Given the cost, I am neutral on if I would buy them again. It probably depends upon how they do through time.”

“I am still considering if I will get the additional windows. Really heavy and hard to put in, can barely do it. Hard to take out too. Not so easy as shown on the video.”

“I really like the look of them, you barely see that they are in-front of your windows. The measurement process was hard. Installation was pretty easy. I bought them for noise reduction but i think they weren’t as big of a help as i hoped for. The road noise like cars zooming by and motorcycles etc is maybe 10-20% reduced but i still clearly can hear them. Especially the noise of cars with loud engines ( or bad exhausts) is clearly hearable. My whole bedroom is facing the road so the noise might be also coming through the walls- I can never know for sure. At the end overall it might help a little with the noise reduction but was not a permanent solution for me to try for other rooms in my house.”

“I was expecting a little bit more quiet but I guess there’s not much you can do if your neighbors are right on top of you. The inserts do muffle the noise out some.”

Hi, Cynthia. Thanks for your honest feedback. We can only reduce the noise coming through the window, which can in some cases limit how much noise is reduced overall. “Bought two noise insulating ones for $500 because we live on busy street. Unfortunately, they didn't provide any significant noise reduction, mostly because we already installed triple pane windows with Krypton gas. I probably should have spent that money on spray foam insulation in the dormer walls to maximize sound insulation, but that's not the fault of the Indow windows...”

Christoph, thank you for taking some time to chat with us about your issues. We're sorry to hear that your test against your existing soundproof windows did not improve the comfort of the room. We always recommend talking with one of our Fit Specialists before ordering our product so they have an opportunity to review specifics to determine whether our product is right for you. That way we would've been able to set the expectation that with the small size of your windows and that they are triple pane means that the sound is likely coming in through other parts of your wall.

“Sound reduction is present but really not as expected. Acceptable improvement. Customer service is excellent though and very responsive to needs and requests with prompt emails or follow up calls. Great information provided on installation and measurements.”

“They look and fit great; however, I wouldn't say they reduce the noise from outside traffic 50%. I would say more like 15%. And it's a shame we can't open the windows easier. Maybe you can work on an insert that fits just like these, but slides open when wanted. The customer service was impeccable, though, and it was very easy to order and ask questions. Thank you!”

“For the price of the windows they didn’t quiet the outside noise down as much as I expected which is why I bought them, but they do help, and seem to help on the heating/cooling bill as well.”
