“THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM. PLEASE AVOID! I found Phones 2 Pounds on a price comparison website and they promised me the best deal. They were prompt to send me the packaging to post my device back to them but then I didn't hear from them for weeks (despite being promised payment on the day that they received my device).
After multiple emails I finally received a 'revised quote' of more than half of what they had initially offered me. They claimed that my phone had damages including a 'deep scratch to the screen' and 'multiple scratches' and 'poor battery health'. My phone was in PERFECT condition without a single scratch. These were all fabricated damages to try and take money from me.
I plead my case and told them that I had given them a like-new condition phone, to which they upped the sale prise very minimally. I wanted to ask for my phone back, but after reading reviews of the company returning devices that were then scratched and damaged, or not returning the device at all, I decided to cut my losses and accept the ridiculously low offer they had quoted me.
I was silly enough to choose this company without first reading the reviews. PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, THEY WILL LIE IN ORDER TO SCAM YOU OUT OF MONEY. In future I'll be taking a lower offer from a more reputable and trustworthy company to avoid this happening again.”
“Everything was fine at the beginning, sent my phone off with no trouble, received an email saying it had arrived and a further email saying it had been tested and a payment had been made of the original offer, however this was more that a week ago and I still haven’t heard anything back despite emailing and phoning.”
“Reduced my offer by nearly a1/2 saying this is worn that is worn (rubbish). Then had to wait 9 days and email them to get my money. Would not recommend.”
“Do not use this company, got my offer highest out of all the companies, sent my phone via special delivery (RM). Then I get a email with reduce price by half. As screen is cracked in corner. THE SCREEN WAS IN MINT CONDITION as it has been in a leather case all its life! Requested for phone back finally got it back and it looks like it’s been kicked around the floor. With far more Scratches on the case which would only occur if out of a case. Do not use them!”
“Do not trust this company!
Phones2Pounds advertise that they will pay for the postage. However, the label provided does not cover the cost of a special delivery (which is the only truly safe way to send a high value item at £200 which my phone was worth) and so you will need to pay £8.00 for this.
Furthermore, my phone was in great condition minus one small surface scratch. Other phone trading companies told me they would have accepted this for a used phone as it was so minor. Phones2Pounds deducted £60 from their initial offer and deemed it as extreme scratching and damage (which was not the case at all).
Phones2Pounds try to lure you in with a good price but then make unacceptable deductions when you have already sent your phone and paid for postage. You would be much better trying another company.
I feel like I have been totally ripped off and will not be using this service again.”
“Ridiculously bad in my experience, gave me an estimate of £84 on the internet, then after 'evaluation' £40, turned into £60 after 're-evaluation', then £65 and £70.
Declined any offer out of principal, used another company which also paid for postage, received payment with no damage after evaluation within a few days!”
“Sent 2 phones off over a week ago, got an email saying they had received ONE of the phones 3 days ago, have not heard anything since, also have no funds in my account like they promised.. AVOID AVOID!”
“Not got my money but they have got my phone.
Sent in my IPhone 6s & accepted the offer & had an email saying the funds will be in my account by 5pm but no money has appeared in my account. No response to emails & no answer from phone calls. This was 2 days ago and I’m still waiting for my money, I’m guessing I’ll never get my money this is an absolute disgrace & scammers”
“Dreadful, don’t use
I was offered £34 for a non working iPhone
Two weeks later, despite the company telling me its linked to my iCloud account. Now they say not working and offered £3
I’ve asked for the return of my phone”
“Claims to process handset and pay out same day if arrives before 1PM, handset delivered at 9am but no payment or email of processed for 96 hours now.
Support number is a scam and diverts to a full voicemail and despite the email address info@ being listed as their contact address this is ignored and even states in an email from it not to reply to that address as it is not monitored.
Contacting trading standards for these scam artists”
“AVOID - ABSOLUTE SCAM!!! I've been quoted £73 for a black Samsung Galaxy S7 in pristine condition with a brand new heavy duty rubber case. Once they got my phone the offer has been drastically reduced to £20 due to "screen burn and handset not in working order" which is absolute rubbish. I declined the offer and requested my phone back which took quite a while - eventually they returned a phone but it was not the one I sent in and no case whatsoever! Instead I got a silver version with a few scuffs, unbelievable!!! And this phone had a sticker on it too, stating it has "screen burn and handset not in working order" - they obviously try this trick systematically! And guess what, that phone was absolutely fine when I tried it. Be aware, even if you take pics of your phone before you send it off - how can you prove you have actually done it? Anyway the story took a good turn since I offered the silver phone to CeX and they were happy to pay £93 for it! Avoid Phones2Pounds under any circumstances!”
“If it was possible to rate this firm with minus 5 stars that would have been my selected rating.
On 21/06/2020 I sent my mint condition iPhone XR 64b to this firm based on its online offer of £350.10 subject to it being received in a good working and unlocked condition.
On 26/06/2020, I received an email containing a revised offer of £262.58 based on them maintaining that the phone had scuffs and impact damage on its bezel. I replied rejecting the offer and refuting that it had any damage to it and insisted that they send me clear photos of the alleged damage.
I then received a further email (no photos of the alleged damage) indicating a revised offer of £290 as a goodwill gesture which I again rejected.
After at least another 3 emails to them from me (if you phone them irrespective of which given option you select, you get a recorded message telling you that their phone mailbox is full and the call is terminated).
they eventually emailed me with another goodwill gesture revised offer of £310. I rejected this offer and requested that the phone be returned to me.
I’ve since checked online and it’s quite clear that this firm has a policy of substantially reducing its offer price on receipt of a phone in an ‘as new‘ condition because of alleged damage.
The fact that they continually sent me revised prices as a goodwill gesture only confirms that my phone was as new and as described so was an insult to my intelligence and a further waste of my time.
I will be making a formal complaint to the comparison site that pointed me in the direction of this firm and I would ask anyone considering sending a phone to this firm to heed the lessons of my experience of them as outlined above.
DO NOT USE THIS FIRM AS MY AND OTHERS' EXPERIENCE SHOWS THAT IT WILL CHEAT YOU”
“I’m another customer promised one price then once they gave your phone offered another. I rejected both offers and asked for my phone back. That was a week ago. I rang and rang and rang but no answer. I haven’t even been paid there very low ”good will gesture”. So god knows where my £120 phone is. Avoid this company at all costs.”
“They promised one price on their website, but once they received the handset, they refused to pay the full price, because the phone ‘had scuff marks and scratches’. This for a phone that has never been out of a Spigen case and with screen protector all the time. After rejectijng their ridiculously low offer, they have offered incrjease by £10 as a ‘good will gesture’ - pure joke, for a phone rated at £155, they were offering £110.”
