Honestly, I am so bummed out about this thing. It took so long to get and I finally get it and I did not realize and had no idea that it does not have a hot plate. My husband is more or less furious with me that I would buy an $800 coffee pot that can’t keep it hot longer than 15 minutes. I really want to return it, but I’m unsure of the return policy.

We chose not to include a hot plate because keeping coffee on continuous heat can quickly affect its flavor, and our goal is to preserve the taste and quality from the first cup to the last. You have 30 days from delivery to decide if you’d like to keep your Ratio. If you’d like to start a return, you can fill out our quick online return form. Didn’t get the Ratio Six. I was sent the fancy, fancy Ratio 8 by your shipping department. Even though the error was not mine, I was told I had to re-pack the coffee maker and run the risk of a 20% restocking fee if there was any damage. I had decided I did not want the Ratio Six either, but you would not issue me a charge credit until I returned the machine you sent me in error safely. The only way to avoid this unpleasantness was to pay you an additional $260.00. You extorted me. Such an awful experience!! My coffee maker will be in a charity white elephant sale at a large church in my city, with a hilarious note about this farce. And on top of everything, after changing filter brand, type, coffee grind, water to coffee ratio, I have never gotten a decent cup of coffee!! You couldn’t make up a more ridiculous product/service story than this. I think the Ratio Six will be a hit at the white elephant sale—should be good for something.

Takes forever to clean as grounds stick even dry. Looks stained after just two uses even cleaned in hot water. Expensive- Sucks

Hi Ralph, thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that cleaning the Able Basket has been frustrating. The basket is made of stainless steel and is dishwasher safe, which should make cleanup much easier. Just place it on the top rack after rinsing out the grounds.

Hi, I love the Ratio 8 Series 2, but the thermal carafe is honestly really poor. The coffee gets cold quickly, and therefore is a useless purchase.

Removed from the shipping box and immediately replaced it as the plastic base made it top heavy, overall much lighter than the original and cheap looking to boot. Highly disappointed. No longer a premium appliance. Returning it immediately. P. S. The original has a nice heavy power cord... Series 2 power cord skinny and again cheap looking Elictrically adequate I'm sure... But seriously?

Broke my Ratio, which now requires a hardware update. Really wish there was some kind of warning on this product.

The coffee tastes horrible. I have tried every combination of grind, etc. I have used pour over makers before as well as French press. This one is the worst. Coffee is weak and under-flavored. No amount of changing the grind or adding extra coffee works. Not worth the $$ at all. Especially after waiting months to receive it.

Also would love to know how much coffee you're using and what kind of grinder. Ratio Eight leaks all over the place when I brew full amount. Perhaps I have a defective unit but unfortunately disappointed given the product promise.

Coffee is never hot, luke warm at best even though I put boiling water in the thermal carafe before making coffee. I do not like luke warm coffee . Ratio 8 works poorly and is expensive. Does not work as well as machines at 1/3 the price

Well it's cute that you are asking for a review on the thermal set, when I have yet to receive the thermal carafe and it has now been delayed by 4.5 months.... So you should rethink when to send out this survey given that customers are very frustrated with the delay. My husband brews coffee and has to pour it into a large thermos that he keeps on the counter now which defeats the purpose of having a pretty design of getting the ratio.

The replacement carafe lid is no better than the original. I'm finding this entire system frustrating, the joints on the carafe also appear to leak or hold water after washing. For an over $300 coffee machine it sure seems cheap. Makes a good cup but not sure how long it will last.

The cups have been terrific but the Ratio-6 I ordered along with the cups has been a complete disappointment due to carafe lid which makes a mess and splashes out when anything less than a 100% full carafe is poured. I would like to send the unit back but customer service (Sally) has not followed up with me post my initial email. Chris Semenuk
