I still do not find the coffee that hot….I also feel the material is too plasticky. Doesn’t feel high end.

I don’t think it’s actually an 8 cup pot because when I fill up my ratio, the pot overflows unlike the all glass version that the system came with it never overflowed so it’s kind of disappointing

We like it. Having issues with overflow - even with a course grind but will continue to troubleshoot.

Love our ratio coffee maker! Beautiful inside and out. Never tasted coffee so smooth and delicious.

I've been looking for a plastic free coffee maker for a long time. Note this is only plastic free if you get the glass pour over carafe. I wish they didn't use plastic for the coffee brewer piece. None of the available machines have the functionality I need which would be an auto on timer and automatic size selection of the brew. I don't have much time in the morning to mess around with coffee brewing. With that said, this seemed like one of better options. I kept this because the coffee tastes delicious. I used a ninja drip machine and was blown away at the difference in flavor.

I love everything about this beautiful coffee maker- the look, the sound it makes when it brews, how easy it is to clean, and of course the coffee! There’s just 2 things I wish was different. First, I wish the button was not touch sensitive. A press button to turn it on/off would work better for me because the coffee maker sits on my counter next to where we get our drinks and is accidentally turned on often, also when I move or turn it a little to make coffee. The only other thing is I need to buy the other coffee pot now that keeps my coffee hot because I am reheating constantly. I love the look of the glass pot so wish it could stay hot & didn’t want to spend anymore money. Other than that, it’s amazing!!!

Keeps coffee at a nice temp for a good stretch but requires preheating the interior with hot water before brewing. The carafe has a nice weight to it, but it feels imbalanced, almost excessively heavy. Pouring is a bit awkward, especially when getting the last of the coffee out. This flaw when pouring appears to be related to the spout design and the trade-offs made to accommodate the base of the dripper, heating area of the Ratio Eight itself, and volume of the carafe. Also the standard Chemex filters that fit the Ratio Eight glass carafe are an inch or so too tall for the dripper and this thermal carafe. Overall, I am happy with how hot coffee now stays hot for much longer, and can overlook the minor downsides of the carafe and dripper. Whether or not this will be worth the extra cost is dependent on individual preference and budget.

This is a replacement carafe and the lid doesn’t have a tight fit like the original did. Disappointed in that change.

Hi Stacey! Thanks for the review; if you'd like we can send you a brand new series 1 thermal carafe at no charge to you. Just let us know with an email to hello@ratiocoffee.com and cc mark@ratiocoffee.com Even though series 2 doesn't seal 100% it holds the coffee temp very high for over 2 hours (and reviews from 3rd party sources confirm this) so we decided to proceed with that design for its simplicity. Thanks very much!

Fast service and really good packaging

Consistent coffee, high quality components. Basket to grounds seel / shroud could be better.

Overall, I'm happy with the quality of the coffee produced. Having said so, there are two significant and frustrating design flaws. First, there is no on/off switch. The manual literally tells you to unplug the machine when not in use, because somehow the product team decided that this is how people like to use kitchen appliances. The second problem is that the button to start the machine – which activates at a light touch – is exactly where you want to place your thumb to help pull out the coffee basket / grounds. Because there isn't an on/off button, and there's apparently no way to stop the cycle once it starts, this means that you have to unplug the coffee maker just to get it to stop. I also haven't been able to use the carafe, since the coffee gets cold when it goes into the glass container. The carafe's rubberized bottom is nice, but it makes it impossible to have a hot plate under the carafe to keep things hot (or to microwave the coffee in the carafe). All of these have workarounds, but they're annoying own-goals on what's a moderately expensive coffee maker.

Thanks for the feedback! A few things: 1. The Start button doubles as an off/on switch, and if you accidentally turn it on, holding for 2 seconds will turn it back off! 2. For safety certification reasons the manual says to leave it unplugged when not in use. None of us do that with our own units, so you can read this as an *highly* risk-avoidant suggestion. If there is no water in the tank, the machine will not brew, and it is fully "off" when not brewing. 3. We've optimized the temperature for best possible extraction and taste of the coffee. Here’s a quick tip: If you add an extra inch of water to the tank beyond what you want to brew, turn on machine and let it deliver water until it hits your desired fill line, then turn off and dump the water, you’ll increase the brewed coffee by 6 degrees or so. It’s pretty fast, and you can be prepping the ground coffee while it’s doing this. Just press Start button for 2 seconds to turn it off, add coffee, and turn back on. Heating element, supply lines, shower head, and carafe will all get heated up. You can do 2 inches if you want even more heat. 4. The carafe is absolutely microwave safe! Let us know any questions or ways we can assist, and thanks again for the feedback.

The coffee is good though no where near as consistent as my Balmuda.inconsistency seems to be the weak spot with many coffee makers. I roast my own beans, weigh them out, grind immediately before brewing and measure out the water. Was hoping to find a maker that could make multiple cups and have the quality and consistency of the Balmuda.

The material is excellent and they perform well. They would be easier to use if there were more pleats, which likely would translate to smaller pleats. This smaller pleated shape would probably keep the filters up against the wall of the basket more consistently than filters with larger pleats.

I have had the 6 for less than a week, still tinkering with it. It looks fantastic. Extremely quick brew. Dislikes include the spritz of coffee from the gasket upon pulling the carafe after the brew is complete, also finding coffee still in the basket after the brew is supposedly complete (maybe my fav Starbucks preground is too fine?) The water filler cap should have some exterior marking on it to alleviate turning it upside down to fit it in correctly. The carafe really needs to be inverted quite a lot to finish out the last of the coffee. Positives: The coffee we have been drinking for years has taken on a totally different wonderful flavor. Overall I like it, but may have to make some adjustments to accommodate the 6

We love the mission to have to no plastic at all.

Overall it's great, but it's I hate the fact that you can't seal off the carafe now. I tend to make a pot and drink it throughout the day alone. Cutting another groove in the lid would have been simple to give it a third locked shut position. The simplicity with which that would have been accomplished through no real additional extra manufacturing costs and the fact y'all choose not to because "we didn't see any added benefit" kind of ruins any good about the new design, even though other than no shut position its pretty perfect.

Thanks for the note! We actually produced multiple prototypes of a 3-position design, but after months of testing, we decided the 2-position was better. Appreciate your input!

4 out of 5. It's beautiful,it maintains heat but needs some sort of handle. It's hot to pick up and easy to drop. This is our second.

Immediately after attempting to clean my Ratio 8 with Halefresh, the coffee maker stopped working. I have sent it to Portland to get fixed.

After a few months with 6/7 days/week of use, the coffee is consistently outstanding. I have but one critique, the lid of the carafe. For maintaining temperature, it’s great. It sucks for pouring. I’ve read the “how to” instructions. It also leaks when pouring is finished. Coffee and water get into the lid itself as well. The inside rim design of the carafe probably contributes to the pouring issues too. Perhaps a cutout or beveled inside rim of the carafe where it meets the spout could be explored. Respectfully, with the top notch materials and machine design contributing to the cost, a better lid/ pouring system needs to be addressed. Thanks for your attention, Dan
