“Unfortunately, Reitmans has really changed over the past few years, and not for the better. As someone who used to be a dedicated customer, I now find myself walking through the store and leaving empty-handed.
The quality of the clothing has plummeted. You're paying extremely inflated prices for garments that feel like Shein quality. The brand has lost its classic, polished feel and instead seems to be chasing fast-fashion trends with cheaper looking fabrics and construction.
I understand the desire to attract a younger audience, but I don't think that demographic is shopping at Reitmans in the first place. Instead, the brand has alienated many of its loyal, long time customers, who are now looking elsewhere for the quality and timeless style they used to be able to count on.
It's disappointing to see a brand I genuinely enjoyed shopping at lose the identity that made it stand out.”
“I have been a long time customer of Reitman's but have issues with the last several collections. Generally there is too much plastic and artificial materials in the clothes. I have had dress pants pill on me after a couple of wearings and gentle washes. Too many shirts with 3/4 sleeves that I bought only to discover I hate the style because it looks like Reitman's is skimping on materials to save money. There are too many baggy dresses that look like maternity wear and too many dresses that look like they crawled out of the 70's boho style. The Hyba sports line is all sweats and resembles Joe Fresh more than anything. Mom jeans ...ugh...! They are trying to do lacy shirts and they all look like they fell out of Ms. Haversham's closet. I spend a lot longer on the site now, not to buy more but trying to just find something. I just placed an order and am keeping my fingers crossed I won't be returning half of it.”
“I purchased a beautiful pair of slacks in white from @reitmans and am astonished with how comfortable they are. Im going back to purchase other colours.”
“Reitmans used to be my go to store for over 20 years! I had no idea there was a major re-branding had taken place. I had been visiting the website from time to time to shop for new pieces over the last year, and every time was confused at the selection. Nothing was appealing at all. Even this morning I had a look... the clothes are shapeless and frumpy. Crop tops, weird fitting bottoms, bland, neutral coloured shapeless styles. Some looked masculine. I would not wear any of these new styles. Then it dawned on me to google what happened. They no longer style for middle aged women looking for great fitting and flattering clothing. They are catering to millennial and Gen Z... who apparently like wear shapeless, sack- like crop tops and odd bottoms designed for teens.
At 53, I guess I don't know what nice clothing is anymore if that's what is trending. Such a shame. It was my go to store for great fitting, well made clothing. The end of an era. I think they made a mistake, honestly. I heard they were bankrupt so they had to make a change? But theyvare forgetting - Gen-X is the one with the disposable income... as well as boomers. So they could have kept on for 30 more years creating for our generations. Oh well. I guess we'll see if their new business model works out. Goodbye Reitmans ... it was really nice while it lasted.”
“I went into Reitmans in South Point in South Surrey hoping they had black dresses as i needed one for a funeral. I was met by Elli, with a warm greeting and she helped me right away. They gave me a dressing room and helped me with my black dress but also a white sweater...I cant say enough about Reitmans. I have bought so many clothes there and have enjoyed wearing them. The quality has been amazing!!!! Some have lasted 3 summers and still going strong. Thankyou Elli for doing a great job!!!”
“Francine helped my friend and I today. She must have spent a good hour with us, helping us pick out various sizes and Color’s. Her opinions were valid and welcome. I have never experienced someone like her. I get I had a personal shopper. (Did I mention she was also helping others?)
Store #1058 at south pointe mall in south surrey/white rock, bc on may 8,2026.
Your cashier 453126 was astounding im compiling all our different discounts.”
“Please bring in more colour. It is spring and summer time. I want to see warm bright clear colours. Everything is often muted and in shades of grey black and maroon. I’d buy more if your colour selection was better not everybody wants to wear black all the time.”
“Standing in line waiting to pay for my item 15 minutes and counting 2 people at cash helping a large return but no one to check me out. The item is very nice, service at cash not so much”
“I stopped shopping at Reitmans. Use to be my go to place as a Mature female and also had Plus size. Now it caters to the younger generation who have never and still don't shop at Reitmans. You have lost all your customers. I have been in a few times this year and there is absolutely nothing that appeals to me anymore. I don't shop here at all anymore”
“Reitmans has gone downhill and no longer caters to the mature women. The tops are all belly tops much too short for the average woman, plus the material is so tight with no give. Won’t shop there anymore as it’s so disappointing. Oshawa stores are terrible”
“Reitmans at WEM is the worst store in Edmonton, a lady who works at the cash register I so rude, I've never had this bad experience with this store before. I contacted customer service and they said they're going to do something about it. I will see !”
“Mixed feelings about Reitmans. Some of the clothes fit nicely and are well made, but others felt cheaper than expected. Customer service was polite, though the return process was a little tedious. Not bad, but not great either.”
“Reitmans was okay. Found some pieces I liked, but the fit wasn’t perfect. Fabric quality is decent, though not as good as I expected. Returns process was ok, but took longer than I hoped.”
“On 5th Oct, 2025 I visited the Reitmans place in South of Edmonton.
The manager Nel did a great job. She was multitasking so well I.e ensuring that the staff go on lunch break plus helping not less than 4 clients who walked in.
Great job”
“I had a $30 coupon from my previous purchases and made a special visit to Reitmans at Fairview Mall to buy a certain dress that caught my attention and use the coupon if applicable. Regardless of the coupon I wanted to buy the dress. I was not impressed with the staff at the store, they were impatient (the store wasn’t busy) and not helpful almost to the point of being rude. I have ordered clothes online from Reitmans before and knew the process but was put off by their behaviour that I left without making the purchase. It was disappointing as I had went out of my way to make a trip to that store today. Hopefully that was a one off day for them and a one time experience for me as I do love their clothes and expect to continue shopping but will try a different location.”
“Great plus and petite size selections, prices and selections. In-store experience is excellent, with attentive and professional service. Mamal in Mississauga was exceptional sales representative who took time to help each customer in their changerooms, was extremely patient with customer requests, and made excellent suggestions for outfits.”
“Since 1987 and my very first job as a young woman through adulthood, motherhood and those very busy years raising teens, and now as an aging adult, Reitman’s, you have never steered me wrong. Quality clothing both classic and stylish, I feel I have loved every piece I have purchased from you over the last 38 years. Never a regret, your standards have always remained high. I appreciated being able to order online, your sizing has always been consistent however your chosen shipper is unreliable, inefficient and has rescheduled my last three online orders, each one twice. This poor communication, having me wait around all day to be notified, ‘nope, sorry, we expect to deliver it tomorrow’ only to have the same message conveyed at the end of the day the following day. This is very frustrating and makes me regret my online order. I feel your reputation is being damaged by your chosen shipper. Somehow Purolator becomes a reflection of your service, which of course is untrue. Find another shipper please that underpromises and overdelivers as Purolator does not hold itself to promises it makes - and consistently under-delivers.”
“I returned a pair of pants to the store to exchange sizes med to a small. The small was to be shipped to my house. The sales rep messed the exchange up very badly and a supervisor corrected it supposedly. I was given a receipt with an order number. That was on April 23. I received no email from Reitman. I called customer service and the representative said it will be shipped it was their error and I should receive a confirmation email. Again no email. It is now May 11 and 3 further phone calls and a email to customer service and I still have not received any confirmation. No response from customer service. I am absolutely disgusted and disappointed with Reitman.”
