Overall: It was wonderful. It is just in the most wonderful location, and the staff if very helpful. Enjoyed Most: As I stated above, the location is perfect. We could walk to all the major sites, the super markets, and the train and bus stations. Enjoyed Least: The bathtub with a handheld shower was difficult to get in and out of. Surrounding Area: The beautiful church across the street and all the museums and the Duomo so close. Nearby Events or Locales: Fiesole, which isn't within walking distance. Tips or Restaurants: They have changed the plugs so make sure you have the correct converter. We found so many good restaurants in the area. Directions: We flew into Florence and got a cab so there wasn't a problem. Check In Out: No. Everyone was so helpful.

Overall: Simply outstanding! Lucca is a wonderful city and Operetta was a wonderful and charming place to stay. Enjoyed Most: Great location and roomy/comfortable apartment. Enjoyed Least: Nothing. Loved everything. Surrounding Area: Lucca is a charming city that immerses the visitor immediately into Italian life. Nearby Events or Locales: Operetta is in the town of Lucca which is wonderful and very walkable. Tips or Restaurants: Grocery store was around the corner and other food supplies easily obtained. Directions: No comment as we took a cab. Check In Out: The staff were incredible and helped us tremendously when British Airways took three days to deliver our baggage.

Overall: Very good. Enjoyed Most: It was in excellent condition and in a very quiet location. Enjoyed Least: There are no opportunities to walk in the countryside. Surrounding Area: It is close to the historical town of Lucca, and within reasonable driving distance of Pisa and Florence. Nearby Events or Locales: The nearest small town is 1 kilometre away but the road is busy and there is no sidewalk. Tips or Restaurants: We traveled from the villa each day and ate out wherever we were located at the time. Directions: Use a GPS; we tried finding the villa according to the instructions given to us and got hopelessly lost. Check In Out: It would have been helpful if the key holder had a knowledge of English. We got by OK but had no idea what he was trying to communicate to us when we arrived.

Overall: We had a wonderful week there. The welcome basket was nice and fun, the rooms were spotless and charming, and the little town was pleasant. The town pub had great food and atmosphere, and Ebrington was located close to many other places we wished to visit. Enjoyed Most: The overall quality of the cottage. It was perfect for two people. Enjoyed Least: The cottage lacked WiFi, which made it inconvenient to contact relatives and to keep up with things. We had to go to the pub to get access. Surrounding Area: One of the most peaceful and beautiful areas we have ever visited, and we travel a lot! Nearby Events or Locales: Beyond Ebrington, in which we were centrally located, Chipping Camden was a couple of minutes drive away. We could do some basic shopping there. Ebrington has no stores. Directions: We asked around town and eventually stumbled across the property. GPS got us into town. Folks at the pub had no clue, so we had to go exploring to find the cottage.

Il Pozzo in Monteriggione was a favorite. Directions: I had been there before, but the map app on my iPad helped.

Overall: Outstanding magnificent experience. Each member was very pleased with the chateau. It was styled after Versailles Palace and in it's own grandeur it stood as we approached it from the country road. Everyone in our group agreed that we would come back again to this chateau. Enjoyed Most: The grandeur of the chateau and the surrounding property. Should also say that the interior furnishings are magnificent antiques. The kitchen is modern, well equipped and large enough for all who wish to take part in preparing the dinner or just drink the French wines and chat. The bathrooms are all very modern and spacious. Surrounding Area: The chateau is located on 350 acres. Great for walking, hiking, running, etcBikes are available, and some outdoor games are provided in the activities room of the chateau.Small charming nearby towns to visit. Nearby Events or Locales: The very near town of Courtomer, (one could walk to town) was small but had a well-stocked grocery store, (Carrfour grocery chain) two bakeries, a butcher and one restaurant. The store owners are very pleasant. The owner of the restaurant closed his small restaurant so that on Sunday evening he could cook dinner for our group in a private dining room. Tips or Restaurants: Nothing to bring, very well-equipped We wanted to go to the beaches at Normandy and that is a two hour drive. Well worth the drive but set out early because it is a whole day trip to see all the beaches and monuments. Quite touching and not to be missed. We loved the chateau so much that it was a wonderful place to come home to after being out all day sightseeing. The Loire Valley is an hour and a half away but again worth the time if you like to sample the wines of the Loire Valley. Directions: When traveling we all used a GPS system. They are great and will take you straight to the center of town, Courtomer, or directly to the entrance of the chateau. The written directions from the center of town were easy to understand and they also took you straight to the chateau. Very, very dark so we suggest you arrive in the day light Check In Out: Check in and check out are wonderful--no problems. Just enjoy and relax because you will be overwhelmed by the size and grandeur of the chateau. Check in with Francine the caretaker was smooth and pleasant. She does not speak a word of English but because of her warm smile and friendly, helpful personality we understood everything. I loved her because she is "part of the chateau experience". When we left she came out to say goodbye, "Bonne route". So nice.

Overall: Fabulous. Enjoyed Most: The view, the grounds, proximity to small towns and Florence and Siena, peace and quiet. It was great! Enjoyed Least: Directions. Surrounding Area: Picturesque and places to eat. Nearby Events or Locales: Mercatale...yes, and we drove. Tips or Restaurants: Restaurant Il Gallo Galleo in San Casciano.Shop and create your breakfasts and lunches in the villa.Use the grounds for walking. Directions: We used a GPS, finally. The printed directions were confusing. Check In Out: It all worked.

Overall: Wonderful! Enjoyed Most: Everything...the hosts were great, and the facility top of the line for its style. Surrounding Area: Beautful views and villages. Lots of good restaurants. Nearby Events or Locales: Bargino; about 3 kilometers downhill--not within walking distance. Tips or Restaurants: Excellent restaurants in Bargino and San Casciano. Bring a bathing suit. Directions: Directions were excellent, and GPS worked well. Check In Out: Smooth and friendly...the concierge people speak excellent English.

Overall: We loved the house - perfect for 2 people. Would be cozy for 4. Cleaner comes in twice weekly. Very comfortably furnished with character antiques. Light and bright, very clean. Great place to use as a base for the surrounding area as well as to rest, relax and cook in. Pool is really just a plunge pool, rather than a swimming pool, but perfect for that. Very friendly owners. Enjoyed Most: The comfort, attention to detail, the light, the surrounding greenery, location. Enjoyed Least: It took us a while to get comfortable with the closeness of the owners' house. This place is literally a stone's throw away - but they did everything to maximize our privacy.Mosquitos are bad between 6-9pm and in order to sit/eat outdoors you definitely need coils and citronella candles. Surrounding Area: Wonderful sleepy and friendly town of Monte Marcello. Tellaro is a fabulous local fishing village. Sarzana is a wonderful thriving little town. Nicola is a lovely hill town to visit. Bocca Di Magra Ameglia, too. The area has exquisite views of the Ligurian coastline, surrounding hills and awe inspiring Carrara marble mountains.Cinque Terre, Lucca, Pisa and Florence within easy driving distance for those who want more action and bustle. Nearby Events or Locales: The house is on the edge of Monte Marcello. Terrible restaurants, great cafes, wonderful, very strenuous walk down and up to a black sand beach, otherwise only accessible by boat.Picturesque Bocca di Magra 5 mins by car - yacht millionaires paradise with restaurants overlooking the river.Nearest supermarket is Ameglia - 10 mins by car. You can get basics at the tiny grocery store in Monte Marcello. Tips or Restaurants: I Capetelli in Sarzana - best dining experience so far. Ottone Primo also good. Lucerno di Ferro on Bocca di Magra. La Lanterna in Riomaggiore.Bring a pocket-sized flashlight to light the pathway home at night. Directions: GPS essential. Check In Out: The owners were very accommodating and friendly.

Overall: We were extremely pleased with the property. Enjoyed Most: Right in the heart of the village. Enjoyed Least: After the first day we could not access the Internet, although we talked to the owners about it. Surrounding Area: Ease of getting to Lucca, Pisa, Florence and other areas. Nearby Events or Locales: Santa Maria del Giudice. We were right in heart of village. I could visit the church on my way to morning cafe and only walk about 2 minutes Tips or Restaurants: Everything was pretty informal. Bring a bathing suit, great pool. Great pastries and restaurants in village Directions: We rented a GPS; that got us nearby. Check In Out: You just hand the owner the voucher, she shows you the apartment, looks at passports, does not collect any additional money for fees, shows you where to park and then leaves you to enjoy yourself.

Overall: Maybe the best vacation ever. Great location, near train station, markets and easy road access to many small Tuscan cities and town. Great history and very friendly people. We were there a month. Plenty of relaxed time, but lots to do as well. Can't say enough. Also the sister of the owner is the cook...which we would highly recommend. Enjoyed Most: Location, location, location. It was hot...great infinity pool looking over the Tuscan mountains and valleys. Plenty of room for 8 people, but you'll spend most of your time there outside. Enjoyed Least: It was a little "buggy". No air, but it cooled at night to the mid 60's. You would absolutely need a car. Surrounding Area: Many, many small Italian towns and villages. You got a feeling like you lived there. Nearby Events or Locales: Certaldo; it was not within walking distance. Tips or Restaurants: RentVillas had a great list of what to bring. The tram to Certaldo Alto is also a fun easy way to get there. Directions: Don't try to drive there at night the first time. We used an app the came with the iPhone...but there are a lot of areas where there is no service. Take travelers to Certaldo proper and go from there. Our directions seemed confusing...but we were tired and it was dark. The GPS would sometimes tell you to turn on a certain road by it's Italian name and you passed it or couldn't see it in the dark. Check In Out: We missed our connection in Frankfurt. The owner of the villa picked up our son at the train station, took him grocery shopping and to the villa. They are the nicest people we've ever met.

Overall: Very nice and very well located for day trips. Somewhat out of the way to get groceries etc, but overall very, very nice!! Enjoyed Most: The lay out of the villa very well arranged to accommodate 4 to 5 couples. Also, it did provide a quiet week, without the hustle and bustle of city life!! Enjoyed Least: As stated, it was a little far to restock food, etc. Surrounding Area: Taking day trips to the small cities and seeing many very old churches and castles; just driving through the countryside and seeing what Southern Farance looked like!!! Nearby Events or Locales: It was not within walking distance; I would say it was about 4-5 miles away!! Tips or Restaurants: Just bring lightweight cloths if in summer or late summer (do not know about winter). We did find a nice restaurant in the Hotel at Bolduian, close to villa. Very nice but very expensive!! Directions: We did use GPS and had no issues finding this location. Check In Out: It was OK, just hard to communicate (language problem).

Overall: The villa was everything we hoped for and then some. Enjoyed Most: The grounds were beautiful and the pool was clean and lovely. Enjoyed Least: The access road was a bit rough. Surrounding Area: The location was ideal for day trips to other Tuscan towns. Firenze was very close. The immediate area was clean and lovely. Very rural. Nearby Events or Locales: Montaione was the nearest town. It was not necessarily within walking distance but it was a very short, easy drive. Tips or Restaurants: Bring binoculars to view the distant mountains and towns. The little restaurant right across the street from the entrance to the villa's road was wonderful. Directions: I arrived a day late and so was picked up by others.

Overall: It was a peaceful and beautiful property and we had a great week there both using it as a launching pad for sightseeing and as a great place to hang out with the kids and relax. Enjoyed Most: We loved the grounds and the view. The villa itself was beautiful and spacious with the right number of bedrooms and good room size. The pool was terrific as was the furniture. We also appreciated the games/toys/books that were there. Enjoyed Least: Since the property is not air-conditioned the top floor became very hot at night even with the fan on. Because not all the windows were screened, we could not open them due to heavy mosquitos. Also, we liked Francesco and Liliana but it would have been helpful if someone had spoken some English. Surrounding Area: We enjoyed running/walking to the nearby villages--the nearby Co-op for shopping and proximity to Firenze and Pisa. Nearby Events or Locales: Palaia was not exactly walking distance. Genovese was within walking distance but there is not much happening there. Tips or Restaurants: Bring lots of good bug spray from the US. The Italian spray was fairly useless. Check In Out: It was smooth and painless.

Overall: We could not imagine it to better than it was. Enjoyed Most: The large outdoor shaded seating areas with the stunning views of the Aegean Sea and the village. Surrounding Area: The picturesque village with all its restaurants. Nearby Events or Locales: A fifteen minute stroll downhill. Going back to the villas took a little longer. Tips or Restaurants: We visited many restaurants and they were all excellent. Some things are hard to find on the island, like fresh meat for barbecuing. Directions: The host of the property met us and dropped us off at the ferry Check In Out: The host made us feel extremely welcome and did a great job.

Overall: We just had a marvelous time at the villa. It was a stunning building and the rooms were great. It was all very comfortable and the pool and cabana were especially fabulous. We had 4 days straight of 100 degree heat, so the air conditioning and pool were incredible. Enjoyed Most: The view. The pool. The cook. Enjoyed Least: The "farm" smell from the working farm. But, we just joked about it and knew that we were in a beautiful, but rural, area. Surrounding Area: The sunflower fields were such a surprise. We just missed the full-field blooms, but it was lovely. It was easy to get to many of the local towns and the views everywhere were just amazing. Nearby Events or Locales: Agello is a tiny local town about 1 mile away - all uphill! While my husband did walk up one day, it was really unsafe to do so on the tiny, narrow roadway. And, it really was all uphill, so you have to be in good shape to make the trek. Tips or Restaurants: Definitely bring mosquito repellent. We forgot ours and needed calamine lotion from the local pharmacy. If you are coming in the summer, you need lots of water. And, if you need ice, bring your own ice trays! The local restaurants recommended were fun, but having the cook was brilliant! Directions: Directions were really challenging, since there are few signs. We did rent an international GPS, but it often totally conflicted with the directions. We did find our way and then got the hang of it. More landmarks and clearer directions when you get off the exit would have helped. Check In Out: Martina, our hostess, could not have been more wonderful. She was welcoming, charming, and so kind. She is a local, so she knew exactly the winery we should visit and arranged for a tour of an olive orchard with a local family that was wonderful.

Overall: Wonderful!!!! Enjoyed Most: Everything was clean, well-taken care of, and beautiful. We loved the steps going down to the beach (the 128 steps are not as bad as you'd think). Enjoyed Least: Nothing really, only small showers, but that wasn't even a big deal. Surrounding Area: The people were so nice and friendly! Nearby Events or Locales: Nerano was the nearest (Marina del Cantone). You can walk to restaurants, shops, church (up the big hill), etc. Tips or Restaurants: Where do I begin? Tons of suggestions!RESTAURANTS:When you exit the driveway/gate of the villa turn right go down the hill into town. There are tons of restaurants along the water. Our favorite was Ristorante Maria Grazia. Get tons of entrees and share, family style. There are other great restaurants there.MARKETExit the gate, turn right, and walk down the hill, there's a store on the left 100-200m from the villa to buy groceries, etc.SIGHTSEEING: Capri--rent a boat from Ciuffitiello...use Pepe!!! This guy is the best! There's a rental stand on your way to the restaurants (directions above). There's a gelato place where his wife and parents work (the nicest family ever!) right next to the stand. He took us swimming in the ocean, took photos for us...the guy knows where to go. You need to use this guy. Tell him the "gemelli" (means twin) brothers from NJ sent you!!!Amalfi/Positano: Use Pepe and see both in one day. Trust us on this one. On the way to/from, he took us swimming, went to another Blue Grotto in Amalfi that he says is better than the Capri one, and took us to different caves. Use this guy!Ravello: You will need to hire a driver. We went to a cooking class at Mamma Agata's. Look for it online. Yes, it's expensive, but a wonderful experience. Our driver took us through Ravello for major sights, etc.Sorrento: Take a 1.5 Euro bus ride! You can buy a bus ticket at the grocery store above. Bus takes only 40 min. Sorrento is beautiful.Listen, you will walk lots, but you need to burn off all of the good food you'll be eating.

Overall: Superb villa. Probably Top Ten in Tuscany and Top Five for large groups. Enjoyed Most: Beautiful setting. Excellent outside areas. Pergola, infinity pool, and cabana with refrigerator by the pool. Enjoyed Least: Bumpy dirt access road to property. Surrounding Area: Great access to Florence, Siena, and San Gimignano. Nearby Events or Locales: Barberino Val D'Elsa; not really within walking distance. Tips or Restaurants: Bring ice trays; ice is expensive. There is no clothes dryer. Directions: Directions are easy. Check In Out: The owner is very nice.

Overall: We really enjoyed this property on Santorini very much! Enjoyed Most: We loved how quiet and secluded we were with our own private pool. Enjoyed Least: The bathroom was a little dark, not much light available. Don't get me wrong I "loved" the bathroom, it was very unique but at times a little dark especially for a lady putting her make-up on. Surrounding Area: We loved that this property wasn't in the busy town of Fira. It was about 10 minutes, maybe, away. The little town we stayed in, Megalochori, was quiet and peaceful. Within walking distance were several choice restaurants. All just our speed. Nearby Events or Locales: We were actually in the heart of a very small town, Megalochori, Santorini. Yes, it was within walking distance. If you wanted to visit the more popular, scenic, incredibly busy Fira it was about a 10 minute drive with parking pretty close. You park but then walk the rest of the way into town. Tips or Restaurants: Everything was great! You don't need to reserve a car as they provide one with the rental of the villa. The best restaurant we enjoyed on this island was "RAKI." It was actually owned by the manager of the property. We ended up eating at his restaurant the first and fourth (final) evenings. Very delicious! Directions: We were met at the airport and driven to our rental property. We were given a map which was very helpful to get around the island and find towns, beaches etc. Again, we also had my cell phone GPS if needed. Check In Out: No, the manager was very thorough, pleasant, and answered all of our questions. Service was exceptional.
