SAMi® is a video-based sleep activity monitor for parents, caregivers and individuals that need to watch carefully for unusual movements at night. SAMi can detect and alarm on all types of movement, with settings that can be easily customized to your individual needs. During sleep, the SAMi camera's proprietary technology monitors for unusual or abnormal movement in the field of view. When abnormal movement is detected, an alarm sounds on the Apple device running the SAMi iOS app (iPhone / iPod / iPad / Mac) and displays a live video / audio feed. Within seconds, the individual or caregiver can take any necessary action. “I’m still amazed at the technology that is allowing the SAMi monitor to do what it does. It captures crystal clear videos when she is moving and stops recording when she stops moving. I’m still trying to figure out the alarm because it’s going off when there’s no seizure activity. Everyone (tech support personnel and fellow users) is helpful so I’m confident we’ll get it worked out. Witnessing a nighttime seizure was scary. I hadn’t previously known she’d had any. The SAMi is allowing me the comfort of knowing about the next one.”

“We are very happy to be able to monitor my child's seizures during the night with the SAMI device. My husband had no trouble setting up the device, although he does have experience in computer technology. My only complaint is we would have referred the I-Pad Mini rather than the larger I-Pad which came with the device. The large format is not conducive to sitting on a small bedside table, which is where we need it. The I-Pad mini would be much better size for this, and still large enough to view the seizure activity.”

Hi Judy, From time to time, we have iPad mini's available for purchase but must have been out of stock when you purchased. You can always purchase an Apple iOS of your choosing and download the SAMi App to that device for monitoring. Best, Trevor

“This is the best seizure tracking monitor we've found. Our son specifically has nocturnal seizures, so having this system is invaluable to us. The only downsides we've found is that the app was only available for iPad (we cannot use it on our Android tablets); the settings aren't necessarily the most intuitive and look like they were designed by a programmer; on some rare occasions, the recording feature resets and we have to re-activate it.”

“Best clear picture both day and night. Recordings of seizures and alarm settings to meet your needs. This has been life changing for my family. Ability to have its own secure wifi and free app allows monitoring from different rooms by more than one person.”

“I love the Sami and have finally been able to sleep knowing that my son’s seizures will be captured. Unfortunately, the picture is not super clear as my son has a canopy bed. The camera wouldn’t work at all when mounted on the wall as the instructions indicated, so I had to try just laying the camera flat on the top canopy of the bed, looking down at him. It’s not stable and not ideal, but it does still capture plenty of movement.”

“Par rapport aux concurrents du marché dans la détection des crises d'épilepsie, c'est plutôt pas mal car cela détecte différents types de crises d'épilepsie et pas seulement les crises tonicocloniques, contrairement aux capteurs de mouvements à placer sous le matelas ou les capteurs de rythme cardiaque ou saturation en oxygène à porter, qui en plus sont plus invasifs. Mais il y a des points qui pourraient être améliorés : la qualité de l'image, l'intuitivité du paramétrage, la possibilité de dessiner une zone de détection personnalisée pour les personnes épileptiques qui partagent leur chambre avec d'autres, et proposer l'application en diverses langues.”

Hi Stacia! You can use the clock mode to hide the live view and then dim the screen so it's essentially black. It will still open to the live feed if you touch the screen or an alarm goes off! Just click on the clock button in the bottom left of the live view screen and then slide your finger across the screen to the left to dim the brightness! Hope this helps :)

“SAMi has given us peace of mind that we didn’t have before. To be able to watch our daughter from anywhere in the house without having to go in her room and risk waking her up has been a game changer for us. The alert system has helped us catch seizures that we wouldn’t have caught otherwise and allowed us to intervene and help our daughter. While no seizure monitor is perfect, this one comes very close. “Love my Sami camera, helps me monitor my child and when I’m not looking at the camera the alarm is loud and alerts me to check on the child. Night recording and day recording are clear and it has different settings that I can customize. Highly recommend it for children who have nocturnal seizures.”

“The camera quality is EXCELLENT, I can see my child breathing and blinking very clearly. I have more peace of mind knowing I have access to him at all times. The only downside is I have been unable to adjust the settings to not be so touchy, the alarm is going off almost constantly, when I turn down the sensitivity it didn’t catch his seizure. I’m sure this is a guessing game and will resolve though!”
