SAMi® is a video-based sleep activity monitor for parents, caregivers and individuals that need to watch carefully for unusual movements at night. SAMi can detect and alarm on all types of movement, with settings that can be easily customized to your individual needs. During sleep, the SAMi camera's proprietary technology monitors for unusual or abnormal movement in the field of view. When abnormal movement is detected, an alarm sounds on the Apple device running the SAMi iOS app (iPhone / iPod / iPad / Mac) and displays a live video / audio feed. “This camera hands down is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!! My daughter was diagnosed with epilepsy at 14 months old. My world was turned upside down and I was so afraid to not be in the same room when she napped because that's when her seizures we're happening. Then we found the SAMi. It is truly worth every penny! This camera alerts us when there is possible seizure activity or when there is a lot of motion. In fact one night around 11pm the camera alerted us that my daughter was having a seizure and we were able to help her and also later show the neurologist the recording. Unfortunately she has several different types of seizures but everytime she has a seizure she is looking to the right so we know the seizure is starting from the left side of her brain. The picture quality is phenomenal you are able to zoom in and out and all the settings are easy to adjust to what you feel is necessary as far volume, and sensitivity. This camera has given us greater piece of mind when my daughter is sleeping in the crib. We have also traveled with this camera on overnight trips. It is straight forward and simple to set up. And I seriously can't imagine what I would do without this camera! I HIGHLY recommend this camera!!!!!”

Thanks for your feedback. We want to clarify a few important points for anyone reading. Sami is not a baby monitor like Owlet and is not designed to be a direct comparison. It is a specialized system built specifically to monitor for seizure like movement such as repetitive shaking or trembling, which requires a different approach to both hardware and software. The system continues recording and monitoring even when the app is not open. To receive audible alerts, the Sami app does need to be open on your device. This is intentional. Rather than relying on a standard notification or text that could be missed overnight, the app is designed to sound a loud, continuous alarm when motion meets your configured thresholds. Because Sami is built for a very specific use case, it includes customizable motion sensitivity and duration settings to help reduce false alerts from normal sleep movement. That is not something general baby monitors are designed to handle. If your experience did not match what you expected, we would genuinely want to help ensure everything is set up and working as intended.

“We started using the SAMi about a week ago. I don’t know why we didn’t purchase it sooner. It has been an absolute game changer in my peace of mind while my daughter sleeps. I am so grateful this product exists and you can really tell it’s made by epilepsy parents for epilepsy parents. My heart goes out to all families needing the SAMi for one reason or another. “We use SAMi to keep an eye on our son with severe intractable epilepsy in our home. We were given a grant through the Danny Did Foundation. As caregivers, it gives us so much relief knowing we won't miss a seizure when we are out of the room. It allows for independence for our son as well. We were very happy with tech support. We wanted to use our own router and they send information and video help on how to do it. The whole process was amazing and quality of life-changing.”

“Our special needs (partial Trisomy 18) daughter developed FND and began having severe seizures a few months ago. Because she has a shunt, she was at risk of damage from a fall. We purchased the SAMi to help us monitor her and catch her seizure movements so we could keep her safe. But there has been a bonus; we are able to monitor her sleep and awake times and this helps us see that she needs to sleep in later on those days. I can actually go back through the recordings and see how many times she is fully awake in the night. I attached a video of her getting up at 12:30 a.m. as we go through the recordings we can see she is visibly awake every hour throughout the night.”

“We are just learning and navigating through the settings and what works for my daughter. But I absolutely love it so far. As soon as I get the settings to where they need to be, hopefully it will be a smooth transition back into her own space. Since her diagnosis and journey has began she has been in bed with us. “SAMi has been an absolute game changer for us! We are finally able to sleep restfully and return to some amount of independence and privacy, knowing that our son is being monitored by a seizure device while he sleeps that can alert us if any nighttime events occurs. The system is user friendly, loud when necessary, and reliable. We recently purchased the stand, travel mount, and have been using the router hub when we travel and can say with confidence that this system works impressivly (even with no internet) and provides that additional blanket of assurance that we can sleep and be alerted no matter where we are - hotels, cruises ships, and internet outages - amazingly SAMi still works!”

“I was on edge and not sleeping , my son’s seizures went from complex partials during the day to nocturnal GTCS!!! I was freaking out about SUDEP …. My friend saw the SAMi and recommended it…. “Absolutely loving having SAMi!! I’m still working out the settings but it’s caught movements I wasn’t even aware of. “The Sami Camera is awesome! We got one for our son who has seizures, and in the couple of weeks that we’ve had it, nighttime and nap times are so much less of a worry, giving us much more peace of mind to know we have something as good as the camera to help us watch for seizures! The settings on this camera can be set really precisely, so it’s better than a regular monitoring system. I would recommend it to anyone who has a loved one with seizures!”
