Faults noticed on pick-up. Repairs promised. But, here we are 2 months down the line. No further on. The branch is trying to wriggle out of responsibility. Leaving us to sort the problem. These problems should be rectified before a car goes on the forecourt. Now, I know your thinking that's extra expense. But, generally speaking, you will have to do it. The longer it is left the more it will cost to rectify. If you are buying from this company. Make sure any repairs/problems are corrected before accepting the car. If they are not done to your satisfaction DON'T TAKE THE CAR!! Because after that you are right royally up the creek.

Very poor communication from the sales department once we had signed for the vehicle. I had to contact them several times to finally confirm a delivery date. I also had to ask for a registration number which turned out to be the wrong one which resulted in my insurance being for the wrong registration. So I had to call them while I was at the garage collecting my car to chage my policy.

Poor customer service once car was sold and signed for after finding various quality faults. Poor and vague communication with regards to important pieces of information. I felt that as soon as the car was sold they were quick to get rid of me as if they didn't want me to find any issues that would complicate their normal working duties. Selling cars quickly matters first, customer service and quality not so important.

Bought a car that had a small area of rust under the back windscreen, I was told this was covered under the warranty and it would be sorted in a few days, then that the body-shop was busy and it would be a couple of weeks, then I had to take it is for a photo to be taken (even though they could have took one before I drove it away). I was then informed it was very quiet in the body-shop, I'm still waiting! 7-8 weeks now, not good enough.

Initially I was quite pleased with the experience of buying my used car at Petch Darlington. Even though they did not return calls from day one! However, when I arrived home and checked the paperwork and other details, I found three important errors. 1. Between ordering and paying for the car and the delivery day, there was an addition of nearly two thousand miles on the clock!. 2. On the warranty it described the car as manual, when it is in fact automatic. Making the warranty nul and void. 3. No users manual was with the car on delivery. The salesman was very sympathetic and agreed that these matters are unacceptable, and needed attention. He promised to obtain a handbook, I am still waiting!, no answer to the extra mileage. And no return phone call yet! It just shows that the old adage re car salemen is true. You can't trust them! Once they have your money they couldn't care less.

My wife and I bought a Sportage last month and our experience was below average. Firstly the positives: 1) The car is a good make (so far), 2) the garage is clean, tidy and friendly. 3) I received replies to my emails. But, there was a string of errors from various departments. Our view is that the buck stops with the person you’re dealing with. i.e. The Salesman. 1. At the point of placing the deposit, we clearly informed the salesman several times to make sure the paperwork is done in my wife’s name, it wasn’t. 2. At the point of purchasing, we were told we had to wait minimum 24 hrs to pick-up, it’s their policy. (Over two decades, I have bought numerous cars from main dealers, never come across this before). Let’s say for a moment, this is my fault - but if the policy is so important, involving £1,000s why do they not send a quick 24 hr reminder? Email, text, phone, anything? They knew which day we were picking up. Apparently, we were informed when placing the deposit, but we were being rushed out of the building for closing time. On the other hand, it suits them to make a quick sale before shutting up. 3. At the point of pick-up, the valet on the outside was absolutely fine, no problems. But inside, it was like they decided to spray all the cleaning chemicals, and leave it at that. I could see the spray everywhere. Later, they did rectify this by re-valeting from scratch. 4. At home, the log book arrived, you guessed it – in the wrong name. Although I showed it to the salesman, (and he told me how to correct it), he said it was the admin team’s fault. At this point I took it upon myself to sort out with the DVLA directly, as I lost all trust with them when it comes to paperwork. 5. When I discussed I was being rushed, I was told in a rude manner that we had already spent 3 hours there! Which business says they don’t want their customer’s attention? After-all, I’m not buying Fruit & Veg here, it’s a big-ticket item, need time to make the right choice. And we still went ahead to buy the car. Overall, our view is that the car is right for us and it’s a nice purchase. The garage over-looks the small detail, which then snowballs into bigger problems. So buy, but double, even treble check everything.

Didn't feel I was treated like a person. The priority was always getting the paperwork done! New car handover was almost non existent. I was kept waiting far too often and for far too long! Never did get the 'deal' I wanted..........but the car is spot on!

I found your salesma Jonathan very polite and help ful but cannot say the same of your manager or admin. Arranging a bank transfer required a visit to my bank ,I have purchased more expensive cars using my debit card. After doing so I still had to wait some considerable amount of time even after the bank informed you the money had been transferred.your admin were totally inflexible and your manager who was keen to tell me how helpful you were did not even come and apologise or explain. Bad customer care and not what I would have expected.

My car was great as was the help from Joseph in Richmond. But we were trying to buy two cars and the rudeness of the branch manager at Richmond and the staff within the Peugeot side of Darlington left a lot to be desired and lost the second sale due to messing us about and seemingly disinterest. Obviously sales targets for individuals getting in the way of overall company sales and customer satisfaction. Shame as second time I've bought from SG Petch due to brilliant service previously. But won't again at the minute.

Part ex. and Purchase went smoothly however its over 3 weeks since I requested a couple of accessories and still no word. This is not what I was expecting. It was also disappointing to find, after taking delivery, an alert appeared for low window washer fluid and the nearside front tyre pressure was at 24 psi instead of 33 psi. These are not major issues but if the pre-delivery service dept. missed these quite obvious items, I'm concerned about the items which are more difficult to check.

Purchased new car 21/03/16 still haven't got it as it broke down within half an hour of driving off the forecourt, has taken a week to fix it. The Salesman (Joseph) is lovely, was a pleasure dealing with him but the customer care after was very poor. Very disappointed :(

Picked a 16 plate toucson up in march to find it had been bumped and scratched. This was tried to be covered up by the staff but the wife noticed it. They tried buffing it up but had to go back in 4 days later for re spray and new part. Staff were arogant about complaining. There attitude was disgusting. No way shoyld a brand new mitor

Paid cash for the new car. Didn't get any discount or complimentary extras ie Free servicing. I could have received a better deal if I had used another dealer but the car had already been ordered before I realised that I had been duped.

The sales rep seemed to be well informed, but front line staff came across unprofessional calling potential customers honey and love? When the order was placed and paperwork came through there were several errors which meant phonecalls and journeys back to the dealership. The actual dealership was bright and airey with a good feel to it, the vehicles were vids played well and optional extras and merchandise were available to view. The only downside was the sales rep must have been a smoker as he smelt strongly of cigarettes which was very unpleasant and did not match the high standards of the sales environment. The sales rep was hard to contact with subsequent questions an rarely returned calls.

Although the sale of the car went very smothly I was then disappointed with the following service once the car was purchased. We collected the car on 20/3/15.: 1. 26/3/15. 6 days after purchase i rang to advise that the steering wheel vibrated when approaching 70mph. The receptionist initially suggested I ring back the following day as the Salesman who sold me the car was not in. When pressed to see if there was another member of staff that could assist, I was told that there were 2 salesmen in and that they were currently with customers but it would be up to them if they wanted to help me or not. A salesman then returned my call 3 hours later to advise me that it was a safety feature!!! When he then rang me back 10 mins later, he said that it was the tracking. Advised a date of 10/4/15 to have it rectified. After futher discussion it was booked in the following day. 2. There was no manual with the car. I was told that they were going to order it. Still waiting to hear that it is available.

Hi Derek, Sorry to hear about your experience after purchase, we certainly made a bit of a mess of it! I have spoken with all involved to ensure this doesn’t happen again. I believe you now have a manual for the car. If you have any further issues please feel free to contact me direct. Kind Regards John Sedgwick General Manager.
