Surprise final invoice had ridiculous damage waiver insurance $137 that I did not ask for I had insurance from Expedia,my credit card, and my own personal insurance. It is absolutely nonsense that I asked for a 4th insurance but this is garbage SIXT pulls on its customers. I am going to perhaps have my daughter file a class action I have already found several folks who had surprise final bills from this company. Insurance problems and phony scratch claims seems to be there business model. I am including the bill from Expedia that clearly shows I already had extra insurance. I will never rent from them again and I strongly suggest you go elsewhere.

I arrived super tired from a flight from Orlando to Kansas City and still had to drive 2 hours to Emporia. I rented a car and hit the road. It wasn't very clean inside with some dirt under the seat. As I was very tired and needed to get to the city, I decided not to complain and continued the trip. After a while, I noticed that the dashboard showed that one of the tires was very low. The car started making a strange noise, and I decided to stop. As I was on a highway, I was very scared and pulled into the nearest Walmart to call the company. After a long wait, I spoke with one person who transferred me to another, who transferred me to another. Finally, an employee said they would send help. I said "great, because I need to continue my journey." After an hour and forty minutes, that's right, almost two hours calling the company non-stop, asking them to help me, I did not receive ANY response. Since I couldn't wait because I had to continue my journey to work the next day, I drove very slowly on a dangerous highway back to the airport to exchange the car. I did so. The employees there (Lydia and the dark-haired guy who receives the cars) saw my state: desperate, sleepy, nervous because I hadn't received a call from the company, and crying. I got another car and continued my journey. Soon after, I noticed a charge on my bank account. They had charged me for 1 day of rental, even though I just exchanged the car and still had the rental for the next 5 days. When I called the company to complain about a series of things (service, car maintenance/check, etc.), Mrs. ALICIA DIXON answered the phone and very rudely said the following: It's your fault because you didn't pay for full insurance. If you had, you would have gotten help. I replied that the car probably wasn't properly checked because besides being dirty, the tire was low (or even flat), as I noticed this a while after starting to drive it. She continued saying that I probably drove over something that punctured the tire. My God, the company offers cars with problems and dirty, and still has a manager who blames the customer for the car's issues? When I told her I would record the call because I couldn't believe what I was hearing, ALICIA DIXON HUNG UP ON ME. That's right. A manager who HANGS UP on the customer. That's when I understood that the whole company has problems, and no consumer should go through this. I gave up talking to anyone and returned the car as soon as I could go back from Emporia to Kansas City. Today I received a threat by mail from the company saying that I still had the car (the one that was returned the same day because it had a low tire) and that if I didn't return it, they would report the car as STOLEN. Folks, if you want to have problems, be called a liar, have the phone hung up on you, and still receive a threat from a company (that has serious problems, besides communication and organization issues), this is the perfect company for you. Now, if you want to be treated with a minimum of respect and have a car you can trust for safety, maintenance, and inspection, NEVER USE SIXT. Because if you still have a problem and ask to speak with a manager, like ALICIA DIXON, she will call you a liar and hang up on you. A TOTAL disgrace!!

FRAUDULENT CHARGES. Overcharged by over 200$ including charged for gas even though we made sure to have a full tank of gas due to previous reviews stating they would charge for gas. We also took a picture of the full gas tank before dropping off the vehicle, and we were still charged for gas. Other extra fees included double charging the VAT tax. This company obviously has gotten away with some shady practices which I am sure are not legal. DO NOT RENT HERE.

Do not use Sixt. Whilst their check in procedure was fine on returning the car they discovered minor damage to a wheel rim that they claimed was not there when the car was collected After much correspondence to no avail they charged my credit card for the supposed damage and an administration fee As it happens I had a photo of the rim on pickup that showed minor damage already there . The photo was taken to show an existing large scratch above the wheel arch and consequently the rim which was included in the photo was a little fuzzy but still legible Not accepted by Sixt and all further requests including asking for a copy of repair invoice ignored Reported to ECRCS and my insurance company So use at your risk

I was lied to and was a victim of deceptive behaviour in order to upgrade my selected vehicle. The response from management when I submitted the details ? " You signed the agreement " Its no wonder this company has so many negative reviews.

Sixt conducts fraud against it's business customers, using account and card details without authorization, claiming I picked up 2 cars in LA same time I was returning a car in AZ. To be fair, maybe they think I'm a superhero and can be 3 places at once and make a 10h drive in 4h... what a superpower

When I turned in the vehicle the employee stated I scratched the bumper. There were hair thin scratches on the front right bumper which could only be seen if a light was shined on it. I did not see those scratches when I did my walk around because I did'n’t shine a light across the surface. Now they are asking me to pay $722 to repair something no one would repair on their own personal car. I never drove into anything. It would appear a bush brushed against the bumper, which I never did. The employee even stated the scratches could have come from road debris. I will never rent from this company again.

Beware.. Also BBB has a C rating.. Nice cars. The problem Is I returned a car with no damage. A few weeks later I received a bill for 900 and a picture of damage to the car. However, When I showed up no damage was mentioned. I reported them to BBB and they are trying to mediate the situation. My only request was that they view their videos to confirm that when I rented the car, the condition was acceptable, and when I returned it, that it had damage. However, they will not review the video to validate if I actually was responsible for the damage. This seems like an abuse of power since upon the return I was not notified and two+ plus weeks damage is reported. Seems like a scam. Good cars, not ethical.

I wish I had read all the negative reviews before booking a rental car with them. Booked online through Booking.com, a car with Sixt at London Victoria station. I had fully pre-paid for the rental and also taken a comprehensive insurance (to cover any extra costs). When arrived at the desk, first of all, there was no one for around 30 mins. Then, when the person arrived, he did a 'soft' credit worthiness check (as if I was "buying" a car on loan). Then he said the test had failed and hence, will not provide a car. I was totally shocked, and even offered to show my credit card as well as bank statements which had enough availabilty, balance, etc. However, the person was adamant. I was also told that this was a new policy for British customers (with UK driving license) - very discriminatory. I even asked him to show the terms and conditions about such a rule but nothing was shown. Overall, I did not get the car, and this resulted in a total waste of the day, which was planned for doing good things. I would very very strongly suggest avoiding this company at all costs.

This firm are a bunch of criminals! I returned the car more than a whole day early, when handing the keys back to a SIXT employee I asked if they would check over the car and was told NO. Two days later I received an email from that stating “there is a scratch to the bonnet 10cm long and that I should fill out a ‘Go to webform’ to help you ‘quickly resolve matters and improve our service’ “ at 08.20am. I did this at 10.23am and within 6 hours I got billed £850.03. They completely dismissed my response and all it done was to help them “quickly” is to bill me! The repair bill came from a company 220 miles from where the car is located in Southampton. They report that they will be taking the money out of my bank account within 7 days to cover the cost of a scratch that was NOT on the car when I returned it! The photos they sent of the car showed the car parked in a different location to where I had parked it, so clearly they have used the car during the 48 hour period between drop-off to the point of their accusation! I have responded to SIXT accusations with the above facts but they are simply not interested in the client or their view. They claim they have you banged to rights, they point you in the direction of the small print! The money they are claiming is more than I get for my pension in a whole month. I am an elderly gentleman and clearly being taken advantage of, this is disgraceful! At 71 years old I could really do without this truly stressful experience. I will not be using SIXT again and recommend anyone that if they are able to use someone else then please do so.

Sixt, Geneva Airport – NEVER AGAIN! Hired a "lucky dip" car. Everything went smoothly at first, the car they gave us was good, we returned it, no issues, and then the invoice came. The price they charged us was more than twice the amount that we have already paid when booking the car from their website! The person at the Sixt counter sneekely added in extra insurance cover, charged for winter tyres and added some local taxes, etc. without any warning. The contract was done in French so when I signed I did not really know what I was signing. Blind trust in a "reputable" company did not work out well. When I tried to complain the answer was: you consented to everything because you signed the contract. Basically we were done like in some third world country. No, that's not fair - we have never been done like this in any of the third world countries that we visited.

SIXT SCAM - BEWARE - DO NOT USE We realised the car was in a shoddy state half way into our journey when the warning light came on to tell us there was too much engine oil and it needed to be reduced, plus found out when it started raining that the drivers windscreen wiper rubber was half hanging off and didnt clear the screen so pretty dangerous and should not have been rented out in that state - we later noticed that this was listed on the damages when we picked the car up so they obviously dont fix anything even for safety of the next driver. Didnt really use the car much while we were there as we was worried it may blow up and no chance of getting much help over the Christmas holidays so kept driving it to a minumum. We returned the car to Salzburg airport before the agreed 12pm drop off time, put the key in the drop box and went up to the Sixt counter to tell them we have dropped it off and to mention the wiper and the oil warning light, the man gave us a slimy smile and said 'you will get your deposit back in a few days'. No apology for the renting us a non-safe car. 3 days later we get an email saying we have incurred an extra days rental as it was dropped off at 1.34pm and also an invoice for over 500 for a 3cm dent in the rear driver door with paint damage. The picture they sent with this was one of the dashboard where it stated it was 1.34pm (the time they checked over it - not when we dropped it off) and also a picture of a tiny black mark which they say is paint damage and would cost over £500 euros to repair, this so called dent is clearly not a dent and is a black mark roughly 0.5cm that would wipe off with a bit of soap and water and was not paint damage as the car was white so no way would Volkswagen use black primer under white paint. The previous damages also mentioned that there was a 3cm dent on the rear driver door but no sign of that one in the picture they sent and theres no way that they can say it was fixed as they didnt bother replacing a simple wiper rubber plus repairs would all be done after the car lease is up so where are all the (over 40) listed damages from that list because we never noticed any of them, the car looked brand new. The car was still dirty in their photo and there was no sign on the picture that they had even tried wiping the black mark off. Complete scam - I have seen thousands of reviews where people are being scammed in exactly the same way. Whatever you do DO NOT USE SIXT - EVER!! They need to be shut down and their staff need to learn some manners and be taught the difference between a dent and a bit of dirt. The emails from them are rude and arrogant, invoices are all in German. DO NOT USE!!!

SAVE YOURSELF DO NOT EVER RENT FROM SIXT EVER EVER. We rented in Italy, we had a major blow out with the tire. This was a brand new car with 600 miles. I understand things like this happen, but it was the aftermath that Sixt could care less. We were on the side of the road for over 3 hours and Sixt never helped us. Since we were in Italy and don't speak Italian, we could not communicate with roadside assistance. We ended up calling the person who rented the car to us and she just said to call the roadside number. Luckily we have relatives in Italy and my cousin called the roadside assistance 10 times and no one ever came. My cousin called a friend who saved us. What if you don't have relatives that speak the language. When we returned the car we were told we did not have to pay for the rental. That would have been very good customer service. Well, when we came back to the states, I was charged, I send many many emails and made phone calls for 5 months and they took some money off but were not good to their word. I had to email the CEO and they could care less. Do not do business with a company that does not have your best interest. They would have had to pay a lot more if we were killed. I will tell everyone to never rent from them. They will NOT save you on the side of the road if you are stuck, beware.

OUTRIGHT FRAUDULENT - ILLEGALLY DOUBLE CHARGED. I booked a rental car from Austria Innsbruck Airport Sixt for ONE DAY RENTAL. I picked up the car on 5 December at around 2pm. I dropped off the key at the drop off box on 6 December at around 11am, told the counter staff (stood a few meters away from the drop off box) that I had dropped off the key and asked him a separate question. Subsequently I received an invoice saying my drop off date was 7 December hence they charged me TWO DAYS RENTAL + LATE RETURN FEE. Emailed customer services to ask for refund of the overcharged amount, and provided evidence including my train ticket to another city on 6 December at 12:17pm, hotel stay in that other city on 6 December, as well as my conversation with the counter staff also on 6 December at around 11am. EVERYTHING IGNORED. I will be filing a dispute with credit card company and also looking to file official complaint with relevant UK/EU authorities. This is not even grey area - it is simply illegal to scam customers like this.
