Didn't warn me the price didn't include London congestion charge, then gave me a £130 ticket.

I wish I had read all the negative reviews before booking a rental car with them. Booked online through Booking.com, a car with Sixt at London Victoria station. I had fully pre-paid for the rental and also taken a comprehensive insurance (to cover any extra costs). When arrived at the desk, first of all, there was no one for around 30 mins. Then, when the person arrived, he did a 'soft' credit worthiness check (as if I was "buying" a car on loan). Then he said the test had failed and hence, will not provide a car. I was totally shocked, and even offered to show my credit card as well as bank statements which had enough availabilty, balance, etc. However, the person was adamant. I was also told that this was a new policy for British customers (with UK driving license) - very discriminatory. I even asked him to show the terms and conditions about such a rule but nothing was shown. Overall, I did not get the car, and this resulted in a total waste of the day, which was planned for doing good things. I would very very strongly suggest avoiding this company at all costs.

This firm are a bunch of criminals! I returned the car more than a whole day early, when handing the keys back to a SIXT employee I asked if they would check over the car and was told NO. Two days later I received an email from that stating “there is a scratch to the bonnet 10cm long and that I should fill out a ‘Go to webform’ to help you ‘quickly resolve matters and improve our service’ “ at 08.20am. I did this at 10.23am and within 6 hours I got billed £850.03. They completely dismissed my response and all it done was to help them “quickly” is to bill me! The repair bill came from a company 220 miles from where the car is located in Southampton. They report that they will be taking the money out of my bank account within 7 days to cover the cost of a scratch that was NOT on the car when I returned it! The photos they sent of the car showed the car parked in a different location to where I had parked it, so clearly they have used the car during the 48 hour period between drop-off to the point of their accusation! I have responded to SIXT accusations with the above facts but they are simply not interested in the client or their view. They claim they have you banged to rights, they point you in the direction of the small print! The money they are claiming is more than I get for my pension in a whole month. I am an elderly gentleman and clearly being taken advantage of, this is disgraceful! At 71 years old I could really do without this truly stressful experience. I will not be using SIXT again and recommend anyone that if they are able to use someone else then please do so.

Sixt, Geneva Airport – NEVER AGAIN! Hired a "lucky dip" car. Everything went smoothly at first, the car they gave us was good, we returned it, no issues, and then the invoice came. The price they charged us was more than twice the amount that we have already paid when booking the car from their website! The person at the Sixt counter sneekely added in extra insurance cover, charged for winter tyres and added some local taxes, etc. without any warning. The contract was done in French so when I signed I did not really know what I was signing. Blind trust in a "reputable" company did not work out well. When I tried to complain the answer was: you consented to everything because you signed the contract. Basically we were done like in some third world country. No, that's not fair - we have never been done like this in any of the third world countries that we visited.

SIXT SCAM - BEWARE - DO NOT USE We realised the car was in a shoddy state half way into our journey when the warning light came on to tell us there was too much engine oil and it needed to be reduced, plus found out when it started raining that the drivers windscreen wiper rubber was half hanging off and didnt clear the screen so pretty dangerous and should not have been rented out in that state - we later noticed that this was listed on the damages when we picked the car up so they obviously dont fix anything even for safety of the next driver. Didnt really use the car much while we were there as we was worried it may blow up and no chance of getting much help over the Christmas holidays so kept driving it to a minumum. We returned the car to Salzburg airport before the agreed 12pm drop off time, put the key in the drop box and went up to the Sixt counter to tell them we have dropped it off and to mention the wiper and the oil warning light, the man gave us a slimy smile and said 'you will get your deposit back in a few days'. No apology for the renting us a non-safe car. 3 days later we get an email saying we have incurred an extra days rental as it was dropped off at 1.34pm and also an invoice for over 500 for a 3cm dent in the rear driver door with paint damage. The picture they sent with this was one of the dashboard where it stated it was 1.34pm (the time they checked over it - not when we dropped it off) and also a picture of a tiny black mark which they say is paint damage and would cost over £500 euros to repair, this so called dent is clearly not a dent and is a black mark roughly 0.5cm that would wipe off with a bit of soap and water and was not paint damage as the car was white so no way would Volkswagen use black primer under white paint. The previous damages also mentioned that there was a 3cm dent on the rear driver door but no sign of that one in the picture they sent and theres no way that they can say it was fixed as they didnt bother replacing a simple wiper rubber plus repairs would all be done after the car lease is up so where are all the (over 40) listed damages from that list because we never noticed any of them, the car looked brand new. The car was still dirty in their photo and there was no sign on the picture that they had even tried wiping the black mark off. Complete scam - I have seen thousands of reviews where people are being scammed in exactly the same way. Whatever you do DO NOT USE SIXT - EVER!! They need to be shut down and their staff need to learn some manners and be taught the difference between a dent and a bit of dirt. The emails from them are rude and arrogant, invoices are all in German. DO NOT USE!!!

SAVE YOURSELF DO NOT EVER RENT FROM SIXT EVER EVER. We rented in Italy, we had a major blow out with the tire. This was a brand new car with 600 miles. I understand things like this happen, but it was the aftermath that Sixt could care less. We were on the side of the road for over 3 hours and Sixt never helped us. Since we were in Italy and don't speak Italian, we could not communicate with roadside assistance. We ended up calling the person who rented the car to us and she just said to call the roadside number. Luckily we have relatives in Italy and my cousin called the roadside assistance 10 times and no one ever came. My cousin called a friend who saved us. What if you don't have relatives that speak the language. When we returned the car we were told we did not have to pay for the rental. That would have been very good customer service. Well, when we came back to the states, I was charged, I send many many emails and made phone calls for 5 months and they took some money off but were not good to their word. I had to email the CEO and they could care less. Do not do business with a company that does not have your best interest. They would have had to pay a lot more if we were killed. I will tell everyone to never rent from them. They will NOT save you on the side of the road if you are stuck, beware.

OUTRIGHT FRAUDULENT - ILLEGALLY DOUBLE CHARGED. I booked a rental car from Austria Innsbruck Airport Sixt for ONE DAY RENTAL. I picked up the car on 5 December at around 2pm. I dropped off the key at the drop off box on 6 December at around 11am, told the counter staff (stood a few meters away from the drop off box) that I had dropped off the key and asked him a separate question. Subsequently I received an invoice saying my drop off date was 7 December hence they charged me TWO DAYS RENTAL + LATE RETURN FEE. Emailed customer services to ask for refund of the overcharged amount, and provided evidence including my train ticket to another city on 6 December at 12:17pm, hotel stay in that other city on 6 December, as well as my conversation with the counter staff also on 6 December at around 11am. EVERYTHING IGNORED. I will be filing a dispute with credit card company and also looking to file official complaint with relevant UK/EU authorities. This is not even grey area - it is simply illegal to scam customers like this.

Terrible experience in Houston. They rented myself and another person a car at closing. Were rude to say the least. Then we both went to put luggage in cars and the lot attendant had left early and we had no way to get out of the garage. We were stuck! 90 minutes on hold with the pathetic customer service got us nothing but a waste of time. Had to rent from another company, Avis. Left car in lot dropped keys in drop box. Next day got bill for a 1 day rental! Absolute nightmare! Stay away from this place at all costs.

Do not expect the car type you have booked. And if your unhappy and want refund as this is not what you wanted. Good luck they will refuse all refund. They tucked on extra charges on the pick up. They were rude and unhelpful. Worst customers service I've ever gotten. Absolutely scammers. Never believe what the phone services says they will tell you lies to get you to book and once booked they say that they never said or agreed to anything

I have rented from SIXT in the past 15 years with delight, always available for the upsells/upgrades proposed by the staff at SIXT Portugal and my last was again a pleasure to deal with the local team and upgraded my rental when really didn’t need it! I was going to a meeting and did not had the time to check the all car with a magnified glass, trusted the SIXT employee and agreed to a small tyer cut in the paper work and agree to it because paid fully insurance for the rental as always do to avoid any issues. On my return of the car from a 3 day business the car exterior was dirty and a small dent of less than 2cm with no paint or scratch on the boot lid was the detected by the SIXT employee, the dent would not be so visible if the car was clean without the road dirty, what made everything very suspicious was the way the employee of SIXT went for it give me the impression that he knew what he was looking for to cash on I never seen in my 30 years of renting cars such a profoundly Inspection to a car and last week I have received a debit to my card of £450.90 for a damaged that was not 100% done by myself and would not be visible if the car was clean like the day it was given to me! I have disputed that with SIXT but they don’t care at all, so the question is why pay full inclusive insurance and still get charge for damages you haven’t cause, my recommendation to everyone is DON’T RENT with SIXT PORTUGAL, they are scammers and that’s how I truly feel from this experience and even if it was done during my rental how can they charge you £450 for 2 cm dent that is removed with suction tool for less than £100 from the main dealer according to expert. I found this fraudulent activity by SIXT Portugal and from other reviews this seems to be the modus operandi of this franchisee of SIXT. Funny part is that on the 11/10/2023 when I return my car more people encounter similar problems as it can been seen in the reviews.

Dishonest and anti-consumer behaviour We damaged the car on tight Italian roads and immediately reported what we'd done. To avoid the damage excess limit in our contract, Sixt falselsy said we'd had multiple accidents so they could bill us multiple times. They charged us more than 3,800 Euros. Avoid them at all costs.

If you want a car that works, don't rent here. First off there are times where they flat out just don't answer the phone in the evenings. I tried four about 4 hours one night, 5 Separate calls before I gave up. Hold times were said to be 10-15min each time. The whole time listening to their horrible hold music about how amazing they are. If you have trouble with you car (like I am now) good luck, be prepared to drive a long distance to get a new one. Im not sure if the car is even going to make the 78mi drive. Oh and on pick up the car had no wiper fluid, so they obviously don't check the car fluids before sending them out again. The staff at the locations are decent, but everything else customerservice wise is horrendous. If there is even a slight chance you might need to contact them, look somewhere else.

Allow me to start by saying I am very displeased with my experience from renting cars through IAH airport in Houston Texas. I have had numerous go arounds and bad experiences that have been nothing less than problematic. I recently rented a car from Sixt who i did not prefer to rent from, however suppliers choice assigned me the company. I was very hesitant to rent from Sixt at the suppliers suggestion, based on the poor reviews that I had previously researched. Sixt held a $200 deposit on my American Express credit card on 10/25. They released the deposit on 10/30 and on the same day they sent me a seperate email stating claims damage. Furthermore, during pick up the Sixt representative was constantly trying to shove toll passes down my throat even after I told him i would only be traveling on the I10 which does not require toll fees. I also had a reservation for a uhaul that I drove the majority of my stay in Houston. For the most part ,the car had been parked as I had to move large furniture that wouldnt fit in a smaller vehicle. In addition I've had a handicap plaque card for the past four years which allows more space when parking. Furthermore i have a clean driving record of over 35 years. Getting to the meat and potatoes. I arrived to IAH a little after 4pm to depart on my 5:30pm flight. Sixt did not email me until over 13 hours after I dropped off the rental car that there was damage to the rim. Damage should have been evident sooner than 12 hours later. When i called to speak to a claims representative, she adamantly stated "If I don't provide pictures I don't have a case". Luckily I took pictures of the vehicle at drop off since I had a similar experience at this same airport with Hertz car rental earlier this year when they attempted to charge me $300 claiming I did not return the fob and that was later reversed upon them discovering it was their own employees fault that the fob had been misplaced. Please do your research before you rent from these car companies at IAH airport. Be very weary at IAH. The rental car companies will try to scam you. They will finesse you if they think they can. If you don't want to take my word for it, read Sixt rental car reviews on any website just like i did. DO NOT FALL FOR THE HYPE. Take heed to everyones experience and save yourself the trouble. Even if the rate is cheaper, it's a set up. That is exactly how they got me. They lower the rate to lure you in and then they attempt to scam you in the end with false excessive charges. My American Express credit card company is already on board to help investigate these false allegations.I have also filed a complaint with the BBB and the state attorney generals office. I will continue to spread my Sixt nightmare experience via word of mouth and wherever possible on the web until I am satisfied that this matter has been resolved. Sixt rental car is demanding I pay $601 within one week to satisfy this false claim. I wish I knew of a class action law suit that I could participate in. In the meantime this may end up being a small claims/civil matter because i will not be bullied into paying for something that I did not do.

Rented a car in Southampton. Brought it back in perfect condition. They claim there was damage to the driver side bonnet in an area that is impossible to have scratched and supposedly down to primer. 5-10cm!!!! They provided no proof of these damages to me after multiple requests. They have no live person to speak to about damages. I know for a fact I didn't damage the vehicle. They are now telling me they will be charging my card for £971.06 and there is nothing I can do about it to dispute it. Nobody I can talk to. They have not provided any proof of damages they are claiming. This is a completely fraudulent company scamming honest people. Stay away. You have been warned.
