Smarty is slower than slow. It speeds up a few days before renewal time, but then reverts, almost immediately, to slower than slow. The one five star review here has obviously been provided my a Smarty employee. Whenever I complain about the lack of connectivity, I am told by Smarty that I should have read the small print in my contract. High speeds were never guaranteed. Quite right, they weren't, but they should have been honest about their inability to provide a decent level of service. I don't use the internet much, so I can cope with the slow speeds, but thank God it only costs me a tenner a month. Any more and I'd move to another provider immediately.

As good as no signal at all at my home address .Dreadful communications when things go wrong . Wasted an inordinate amount of time . Incredibly frustrating . Avoid like the plague . I really regret not staying with lebara or giff gaff. Adrian Staunton

Poor service , only used it 1 week a month for my iPad while away from home . Paused my account then when I asked for a refund told me I'd used some data even though my iPad had been off since it was paused . There's a reason there cheap . I suppose you get what you pay for ... or not from smarty

I contacted Smarty to se if my data only sim in my motorhome router would work in Europe. No problem they said, but you would need to buy an EU Roaming data from them for £7.00. This lasts for 3-days. After buying 4 of these £7.00 EU roaming datas, I had no internet signal for 20-days, and so could not get any internet and couldn't work. I contacted Smarty on more than 10 occasions informing of my problem, only to have a BOT keep asking for my personal details and telling me to turn off my Aeroplane tab. I kept replying that i don't have a phone, I have a router with a Smarty Sim. No-one contacted me, apart from these BOTS, so it was a hugely frustrating time for me and I have since cancelled my contract and will try to go with a provider that can at least answer a phone call to help with difficult situations. Terrible, terrible service; great if it works, but not when it doesn't. Bye Smarty

Awful awful awful, switched from 02 to these. They sent me the wrong SIM card to switch too, after me contacting them they confirmed this - problem is I am going on holiday tomorrow so am unable to wait for another one. They said there was 2 SIM cards sent to me, my one and another bonus one and they said I put the bonus one in. No phone number to get hold of and you get put on a stupid chat online. Pay peanuts get a bad service I guess…..now without a phone until a few more days because of these which is so frustrating!!!! Useless

Made the mistake of not reading reviews before moving my SIM deal from EE to Smarty for what seemed like a good deal. There was no mention in the transfer process that it would take 5 days for my old number to move from EE to Smarty. This new information came to light yesterday when I activated my new SIM. Lesson learned, a good deal is not always what it seems.

Terrible customer service. No coordination of information, no follow up, no reference number given. You literally spend days or weeks repeating yourself like a parrot and they close the chat without resolution. No phone contact number to reach them

Well deserved low rating on here. I was charged for the whole month and refused a refund after switching to another operator. They can clearly see that I switched it on and then off a second later. Instead of checking the duration of usage they look at the amount of data usage which automatically happens on any smart phone.

The connection has been terrrible, HORRIBLE, for the last weeks; asking for solutions as getting trouble at work, not even able to answer emails or finding the locations for my meetings as no signal coverage at all. Do not EVER think about starting with this company.

For me, Smarty is consistently great. I do have to laugh at the negative reviews, probably from clueless people, who don’t even have the capacity to check that Three (Smarty’s parent company) offer good coverage where they live, work, socialise, etc ! You see it on the smarty community forum all the time, “I bought a smarty SIM card and I don’t have coverage ! Smarty is rubbish waaaaaa !” “Did you check the coverage where you live, work, etc ?” “No, I bought it cos it’s cheap !” Then we see the people who complain that their smarty SIM card won’t work in the caravan or motor home in rural Europe, not only because coverage is poor, but because they are driving around in a large faraday cage. People try to be cheap and use Smarty as a permanent replacement for fixed line broadband, then complain that it won’t connect to their 8 devices, and little Shaniqua-Destiny needs WiFi on her iPad ! Still my favourite is the guy who couldn’t get a smarty SIM card working in his Tesla. Transpired you had to buy a connectivity service Tesla. As a Smarty customer for a couple of years, for me it’s great. The caveat remains that, like with any network, you have a responsibility to yourself to ensure Three offers good coverage where you need it most. Smarty could be free, but if it doesn’t offer coverage where you need it, it’s as much use as two tin cans and a piece of string.

**Do not sign up with SMARTY.** I opened a main account and three sub-accounts for my kids (10% discount). The service was not good, poor signal etc so I closed the account after three months. I was told by their customer service this meant no more charges. WRONG. They continued to bill and when I contacted them, they refused to "validate" the account so they could look into why they were still billing, because the main account was closed. Their validation process is ridiculous. They could see that the three SIMS were not being used. But they carried on billing. This went on for multiple months and finally I got them blocked by my credit card company. This is a predatory business practice and I strongly recommend no-one sign up with this awful company.

SIM arrived a week late, SIM won't activate, non existent customer service. 9 days after ordering my SIM I still don't have a functioning SIM card. -Despite offering next day delivery for sim cards ordered before 4, my sim card ordered at 3PM on a Monday the 8th April didn't arrive and I was made to wait 5 days until I was allowed to request a new SIM card. -I received the SIM card in a week, well after the promised next day delivery. -This sim will not activate and the team don't have the technical experience to assist me any further. -A staff member ignored me for days on end when trying to get assistance, so I couldn't open up a new chat with another member of staff to get help. My messages showed as "seen" and they were ignored. This left me totally stuck without a functioning phone. I can't make or receive calls or texts and I have no data. They ignored me on Sunday and Monday and finally replied late on Tuesday afternoon when I was busy and for obvious reasons without data to reply. -Finally, after about 5 requests over separate days, the staff member closed the conversation and I can now get help today from someone else, but even the manager Sanidhya cannot help me at all. She insists I must have received two sim cards and the other one works, but I was only sent one (I checked and double checked the envelope) which is not my fault, and that begs the following questions: why doesn't the spare sim card work; why don't the staff have the technical capabilities to set up the number and sim they provided to me like all other phone operators do? The cherry on top is that after almost ten days of waiting on a functioning sim card with SMARTY to no avail, all that the manager can offer me is to wait 3-5 working days on a THIRD sim card. Truly abysmal service. Avoid this company, saving a few quid truly isn't worth the hassle. You'll see through review percentages that about 1 in 7 people have a disastrous experience with SMARTY. There is nothing smart about it, as that word is not synonymous with non-functional.
